2025 Can Am Outlander 1000R XT P Test Review and 850 DPS. To show off their new 2025 big-bore models, Can-Am invited us to the Carl Kuster Mountain Park in Malakwa, BC, Canada for two days of testing on the Outlander 1000R XT P and 850 DPS.
When we first rode the new Gen-3 chassis on the Outlander 700, we imagined how good it could be powered by a bigger Rotax twin cylinder engine. Can-Am has made our dreams come true and the result is better than we had imagined.
In spite of gaining power, the new big-bore Outlanders are more rideable, thanks to the new clutches, improved suspension, and handling. They are heavier, but yet again, improved suspension, handling, and ergonomics help hide it.
The 850 is an ideal machine for the rider craving big-bore performance, but isn’t planning on pushing their limits a majority of the time. The 1000R XT-P, with its upgraded suspension, tires, and wheels is definitely aimed more at the rider interested in pushing their limits more often. Both machines are perfectly capable of working hard.
The Gen-2 Outlander 1000R XT-P set the standard in big-bore ATV performance in our 2020 1000cc ATV Shootout. Based on our first rides, the new Gen-3 Outlander 850 and 1000R set the new standard in big-bore ATV performance!

Can-Am has done an amazing job of making the top big-bore 4x4 ATV on the market even better! The NEW Outlander 1000R and 850 models are perhaps the biggest thing to happen in the ride-on ATV segment for 2025. SUBSCRUBE for more content coming on these models. Great coverage as usual. I think this new outlander is a huge improvement! I love the updated rear suspension. I don't think it needed more power but I'm never going to complain about it . Here is hoping the Renegade gets that 101hp and new chassis next!

@@ATVonDemand yeah that’s what I was wondering. Maybe he was saying to use Ducati’s L-twin because of its power figures? 950-SP has 114 HP, so maybe? It’s an expensive engine either way. Makes no sense to spend the R&D on it.

I turned my Sportsman XP1000 into a DEATH SPORT QUAD that's Insane after I saw can am coming out with 101 hp I had out do them to the Extreme. And after I saw that the lightest one was 942 lbs I laughed my ass off. My Sportsman XP1000 is just over 700 lbs now and close to 100 hp.
@crazyflyboy30
@crazyflyboy30 3 күн бұрын
942 lb (427 kg) That's what a DPS 850 1000 Weight is Dry. My Sportsman XP1000 is 801 lbs dry so it has a higher power to weight ratio than the Can Am. That's stock numbers and my Sportsman XP1000 has been highly modified now and with a custom Carbon Fiber body it just over 700 lbs wet. It looks something like a Raptor and with a RJWC it looks insane. I will have a video on it when I finish and I'm still finding things to cut off for weight reduction and I been testing it every time make more improvements and it all ready at the point it super insane to hit the throttle wide open.

What was the Heat dissipation like after running it for 30 minutes or so? Does it still burn your leg like the Gen 2's did. ECU Reflash takes care of that of course it is locked for now on the new models. Good coverage! Enjoyed it! Keep it up guys. I have a 2017 Renegade 1000R no power steering. I like it it has a few mods done to it too.

@ATVonDemand

@@justen98 We love viewers that pay attention! We like the square tire set up. We typically do that if we build a 4x4 project. We think it leads to more accurate steering and makes the back end a little easier to drift. Most 4x4 racers use a square tire setup.

We have a 2023 Outlander 1000R XT and a 2024 Outlander 500 . I knew soon as I rode it and combined with all the features this would be the path . The straight cut gear rear end whine drives me nuts and our 500 has much better fit and finish and such a quieter drivetrain . Much easier maintenance, rides better , way more storage , much better shifter and linkage , softer seat , built better . The only thing I like about the 1000 better is the power. So I’ll be looking to trade I think .

@@ATVonDemand Absolutely! Yw! Love yalls video layouts. I’ve owned each brands big bores now except CFMOTO. I can offer a wide range of POVs and perspectives at this point . These gen 3 offerings is as close to big bore “Japanese feeling” horsepower as you can currently get . The 500 reminds me a lot of my kingquad 750 and grizzly 700 I had . It does seem like the gen 3 1k isn’t as snappy as the gen 2. My guess is the race will be close til about 50 when the gen 3 will ease away . My gen 2 would hold one quad length on the DS 120 hp X3 I had til 70. They move out . Haven’t raced it against the XRC RR I now have kind of no point . Thanks for a great review….the quiet bevel cut gears to get rid of the obnoxious loud whine is enough to seal the deal for me lol
