When I was in Rome in July, I saw a lot of those strange EV/micro/ cars the Matchbox has. They are pretty good representations

The Fiat Topolino is basicly the same EV like the Citroen Ami, there's also an Opel Version available.

I've found that many of the Matchbox Basics respond VERY well to aftermarket wheel swaps. Especially good are the ones with front and rear details, MB does a nice job with those. 5~10mins of work, and they're a totally different model, visually.

The purple VW Gulf is actually the first vehicle I think I’ve ever found on the pegs with a wheel error. When I first saw the car it had 2 different wheels like a race car and I thought that’s weird until I saw the 1 behind it with matching wheels. I bought both.

That matchbox set with the Skylark is a convertible. All of the cars have no tops.

That black card set is probably a convertibles set. Notice, they are all convertibles.

The 2025 cardboard card looks thinner than the 24 model with the bridge in the background they keep stealing from us, but yet the price keeps being the same. The blisters will be super thin like plastic bags one day. One day we won’t even get interiors in the cars anymore.😂

I think Matchbox was going for a retro 60s and 70s Lesney feel with the blue windows on the Wagoner. I like it and I can't find one anywhere but ebay.

What I really admire about MATCHBOX more than HOT WHEELS is the intricate detail in both the front end & rear end of the vehicles, especially the taillights!! Don't get me wrong, I admire HW with equal respect, but MB really nails it when it comes to accurate details 🚙🚒🚛🚍🚔🚘🛻🚑🚓

Clean castings ARE key; who wants a popular model saddled with Masters Of the Universe plastered the hell all over it, in a tasteless 80s color.

I recognize you’re opening matchbox mainlines but it never ceases to amaze me how people will spend 50+ on a hot wheels rlc to get the opening parts when they can spend 3.00 on a matchbox moving parts model and get the exact same detail, but what do I know 🤷♂️
@Arnie35 күн бұрын
It’s all based on resell and demand for the car itself, but I agree it’s stupid so I don’t buy RLC

Matchbox has shot back way up from the 80s. When the Lesney regime dissolved, the cars went down hill, particularly the Macau produced ones.

I wish Hot Wheels did more of the old vintage car castings just because matchbox half the time they're either really beautiful or not LOL the other thing I don't like about matchbox is all the tires look like truck tires tread Overkill makes it look weird.

The scale size has always been a problem with Matchbox. Matchbox used to put the scale size on the bottom of the vehicle. I always figure out the scale of any diecast I get. This way if I’m displaying them I want them be realistic.
@marcbaur6775 күн бұрын
Since they are part of Mattel, they stoped telling the scale of the car of the bottom.

The two things that sort of bug me about Matchbox, even though they do make nice castings, is often they slap those same wheels on car after car. Even those old classics from the '40s or '50s. The other thing is the hit and miss on detailing. On some, they do it and it looks pretty good. On others, like that classic Chevy El Camino and the AMC wagon, the front grill looks terrible. Like it went to the paint dept, and they just grey primered the whole grill, headlights and everything and left it that way. Come on! I'll pay the extra dollar. Oh, and that Wagoneer. Done so nice. Accurate body AND details. And then.... blue windows?! Like you said, neon green interior?! It was so accurate, and then someone decided to go wacky. And yes, THOSE wheels again.

The Ford Fiesta is bigger than 1/64 , if i compare it with a Greenlight VW Golf MK I, its bigger but the Fiesta should be smaller, more like a VW Polo from this era. 🙂

The matchbox trucks are 1/75 scale look on the bottom some of them have the ratio plus matchbox Institute better with their wheels sticking out axel’s way too long and on some of their cars they come damaged from the factory that quality controls not as good as hot wheels plus the mentalist on the matchbox use a little dope scale from the gas station just kidding about the dope name, but anyhow the post on the matchbox are visible from the exterior because the metal is so thin and he said that they do better with tail lights and headlights, but matchbox has always given me a very under hot wheels quality😅😊

Your negativity befuddles me... If you want models that are caliper correct 1/64 scale, then please, by all means, spend some of your YT earnings and pay $15-$40 for premium castings. Matchbox, last I checked it still @ $1.00 =/-. It seems to me that you would complain about getting a happy meal from McDonalds for free... you are obviously not a real car guy... you are a Diecast collector. That Jeep Grand Wagoneer is an amazing new addition to Matchbox's lineup. Tell me this... WHERE are you going to get another example of that model? I can tell you where... NOWHERE! If you don't want something, the by all means, Don't Buy It! There are those of us out here that would be extremely happy to pickup what it is that you want to complain about. *End Rant*

Are you really complaining about a children's toy because the pick-up trucks are too small and not in scale with other vehicles? that's really laughable and childish, If you said that in a store in Belgium everyone would stare at you and say look at that grown man complaining about a Matchbox toy car (while laughing at you).🤨
