GGK!!! His prose is beautiful but not dense at all imo. Reads similarly to Robin Hobb or Tad Williams. A smooth experience. I need to give J.V Jones another go, I thought the pacing of the Baker's Boy was so ridiculously quick that I wasn't getting a great grounding which may have been more to do with my mood at the time.

I must admit that my older sensibilities are at times at odds with your newer generation thoughts and descriptions of books and themes, However, I do appreciate the fact that while you might “reach for what’s cool in the moment”, you do work harder than most booktubers to create a broader TBR. So many popular presenters come across as fantasy genre savants and snobs, but you do seem to keep an open mind(except with The Godfather :)), and that’s along side your realistic energy is what makes your channel unique.

@@tomhunter7672 lol 😂 I try and keep an open mind. I would be willing to try the godfather. For some reason the subject matter has never appealed to me though. Thanks for watching

The read your shelf thing has been something I've been trying to work on and have been able to accomplish since October. I'm going into 2025 with that mindset as well and will be overall buying fewer books until I actually work through my backlog. Now, the wishlists will still be added to, don't get me wrong!

I need to work on Reading My Shelf instead of buying more stuff. I went to the bookstores, bought two new books. Good restraint. Went to the free library books, left three and picked up two (an incredible A+ Middle Grade book I just finished and a Christmas Western I just started) ---And, even though I said I wouldn't do any more book buying this month: I am expecting Empire of the Vampire from Amazon today and putting it on my December TBR.

Take it from a slightly older book nerd. You have to, at some point, start thinking about the physicality of the massive collection you're hoarding. At this point, after a lifetime of collecting, I'm buying ebooks exclusivity. Those that I'm particularly fond of, I'll seek out nice hardcopy editions of, or maybe even first editions, if they're fiscally within reason. The money saved by buying hardcopies as they're released will cover those special acquisitions. Also, think of the logistics of moving from home to home.
