Ideal for city and suburb driving with speed limit of 50km to 80km in most roads. Good safety rating, 7 yrs warranty and modern technology. Not exactly anaemic with 1.5 turbo. You cant buy a Japanese for that price.

This will destroy cars like the MG3, Swift, lower priced Hyundais and Kia’s. I predict it will start a price war with the other Chinese brands and hurt established brands who have jacked up their prices.

2:53 Wow, although it is a cheaply priced SUV impressively it actually has gas struts for the bonnet. Wonder how many cars in this price range would have bonnet gas struts?? It reminds me, as I recall, that one time the Mk7 Golf GTI had gas struts, then VW went cheap with the Mk8 GTI and got rid of the gas struts and now has a prop rod, and the updated Mk8.5 still has the prop rod. Also, the T-Cross and T-Roc only have prop rods.
@subarus6
@subarus6 Ай бұрын
Who cares? Do you consider gas struts to be luxurious? It's another thing that will need maintenance. I've never seen a car with a broken prop rod. I've had cars with gas struts that don't stay up.

As you say, this is very, very cheap by modern standards - so the question has to be asked - what has been cut in order to sell it - with all of that kit - at this price? The underbody shot at 1:15 shows some rough joins underbody, and the torsion beam itself looks a bit small, but it is hard to tell if this is significant. I'd love to have a more detailed inspection on a hoist, side by side with a more expensive competitor. Regardless, I suspect that - as the MG ZS goes up in price soon - this will sell very well indeed.

@@daweigo6851 When I look at gross profit margins for Mazda / Nissan or Toyota, I'm not seeing that they are profiteering, especially at the cheaper end of the market. It is well-known that manufacturing in Japan or Europe or America incurs a higher cost base for labour than China. That might explain a 10% variance in cost of the finished product. The remaining part is unclear to me.

Cheaper manufacturing costs, smaller wages and large volume output will reduce costs a lot. Doesn't always equate to cut backs but some of the parts are probably not as good as your better European or Japanese vehicles

That crap is sold in Italy as DR 4.0. In our market is lacks a lot of safety features, no crash tests results available, terrible manual transmission (yes, it also comes with a 5-MT), very poor build quality and if you crash it you are going to wait for months (!) for new parts.

Decent enough pay, all of the Chinese domestic car companies pay their employees pretty well enough to a substantial amount with accountable fringe benefits and so on. The downside is that they do have a tighter working schedule everyday but considers this in a much more modern manufacturing environment where automation is almost everywhere, the amount of manual labour is definitely no way near being casual but on the parallel no way near being too intensive and depriving.

@@madrx2yeah buy an 8 years old 2016 boring toyota with more than 200000km for the same price, do u really think that toyota magically dont break down or lose value? Try buy a new toyota for 40k drive it for 150k and then try to sell it, it wont get u more than 15k , thats a 25k depreciation, Just buy a chinese car for 20-25k drive and before the warranty ends sell it for 10-15k or more, thats less than 10k depreciation. Toyotas are definitely reliable outside warranty, but they are extremely overpriced. SW so many mazda and hyundai fail at 100-150km, just buy cheaper with warranty and save ur money

As far as I know, Chery models use cage-type structures for their bodies, and the A-pillar and B-pillar, which are very important for personnel safety, use hot-formed steel with a strength of 1300 MPa, provided by Germany's Benteler.

Kind of similar pricing to when ldv first came here. I'm not sure how ldv's last, you definitely hear the same old "Chinese crap" storry but that could just be their competitors talking. That car will swallow measly $15k and still have problems. There's a reason they're cheap. Same reason used S-Class and 7 Series are cheap. If it breaks you might need a tow truck, you might need a rental car, then finding a mechanic, then finding parts for a 14 year old niche vehicle. People have lives and don't wanna be fussed with fixing a car, That's why a new car with warranty, service plan, resale value is appealing.
@YZJB
@YZJB 3 ай бұрын
@@Sqnutt unlike the BMWs and Mercedes from the same era, the Volvos have proven to be pretty reliable actually. The V8 engine is made by Yamaha in Japan, the gearbox is made by Aisin in Japan, the electronics are solid. This isn’t my first rodeo with a Volvo from this era. They’re a lot better than you make them out to be.

You're living in the past. Chinese cars now match European cars in terms of quality and safety. Many Japanese car dealerships have closed in China, and Chinese consumers generally look down on Japanese and European cars. We're even preparing to dominate the U.S. and Europe. If it weren't for the U.S. feeling insecure and deliberately sanctioning Chinese manufacturing, as Elon Musk said, without trade barriers, a significant portion of European and American cars would be replaced by Chinese cars in a few years.
