The fact that there’s still a v6 and not an overly stressed 4 cylinder turbo is huge. I fear 6 cylinder engines will forever be a thing of the past and so will reliability. Idc what you say, a naturally aspirated engine will never compare to a turbo 4 cylinder in terms of reliability.
@tobias_dahlberg3 ай бұрын
Cylinder count in of itself shouldn't be a measure of reliability. There are plenty of 4-cylinder engines that have been dead reliable throughout history and even today. Problem is there are too many shitty engineered cars with 4-cylinder engines which has tainted the look of 4-cylinders, as people simply think that it is the cylinder configuration itself that is the culprit. You can run a naturally aspirated or low pressure turbo 4-cylinder that is reliable without any issues. Problem is the customer requires more and more power, which forces them to over-stress the engines. If people were okay with 150-200hp 4-cylinders then they would be totally fine. But people want 300hp+ nowadays. Some of the most reliable engines of all time have been 4-cylinders. Volvo redblocks, Volkswagen 1.9TDI, etc. But then you're looking at 120-130hp.
@figeon3 ай бұрын
@@tobias_dahlbergYes but that’s not what OP was saying. 4 cylinders are great for compact cars, but for a large and heavy vehicle like a Minivan that can carry 7 people, a 6 cylinder is essential to have it last.
@tobias_dahlberg3 ай бұрын
@@figeon Sure, argument works in this case. But you’ll see similar comments on medium sized sedans and smaller vehicles as well, in which case there’s nothing inherently wrong with a 4-cyl.

2023 Ody owner here and...I'm happy the car still looks pretty much the same as ours.. save for slightly different steering wheel buttons and the dash and aforementioned infotainment changes. Can't believe it still doesn't have a 360 camera, I couldn't believe ours didn't come with one and can't believe it's still not an option nor that the didn't continue down the all digital dash and make it more useful with a map overlay a-la Audi. HUGE missed opportunities. Love the thoroughness of your videos. It's quite amazing (and a chore if you have to clean/detail it) the size of the interior you get in this car, it REALLY puts most other cars to shame with how well space can be used and just how a plenty it is. Our other car is a 2015 outback, hardly a small or uncomfortable place to be, but it just feels tiny inside, which again, is not a knock on the Subie, but a highlight on just how spacious minivans are. It's a fantastic car and if you're watching this video thinking about a minivan, it really is a shame that the offerings in this segment are so limited, as they're fantastic family cars.

Over 200k on my V6 accord with it and never a problem, saved tons of fuel over its time, even up to 42 mpg steady highway cruising.
