We have a 2001 Odyssey purchased new. Perfect condition. Only issue was the transmission, but it was replaced under warranty at 105000 miles. NO issues. Gave to my daughter and just purchased a 2024 Odyssey. Sienna was too expensive and no arm rests on the front seats. My wife is very short and with the Sienna's seat moved very close to the steering wheel, she has no place to put her arm. Just took a 5 hour road trip and we got 31.3 MPG with a packed car. With almost a 20 gallon tank, did not have to feel up the car. AWD is nice and so is hybrid, but for the cost they want for a Sienna, you can purchase a lot of gas. Plus, I know my car will last 300000 miles and will not have to replace the battery.
@Illmatic6623 ай бұрын
Wow they replaced it under warranty at 105000?! How is that possible, did they do you a solid? I thought Honda only had a 5 Year - 60K Mile Powertrain Warranty. We watched a tons of reviews and narrowed down our preferences to the 2025 sienna xle awd and 2025 odyssey touring. We were slightly bias toward the sienna due to AWD and great gas mileage. Then we went for a back to back test drive. We first drove the sienna and thought it was good enough. Then went to the neighboring dealership to test drive the odyssey. As soon as the sales person opened the Honda we were immediately wowed by the interior build quality compared to the sienna. Then we drove it and felt like it was quieter and more comfortable then the sienna. We immediately forgot about the sienna and made up our mind to get the honda. We got the honda at 2k below msrp and 1.9% rate for 4 years. For the these goodies on the Honda odyssey we forgave it for it's drastically lower gas mileage. At the end of day don't only base your opinion on reviews. Test drive both and see what you like. In our case, before test driving we did not know we would like the Honda so much.

I totally agree there's just my husband and myself and the dog. Plus a lot of traveling gives off a lot of extra space can camp right out of our van . I really don't care for a giant screen in the front of my dashboard. If you can't drive carefully then maybe you shouldn't be driving. The back up camera is nice but I could easily live without it. My granddaughter is now 11 she refers to my car as theNana limousine. She always says to me Nana keep that car. I want it when I go to college. So I just keep it up and I'm pretty sure you'll be driving it off to college.

@SteveHuff-yb4cw14 күн бұрын
Although it's not a big cost consideration, some states like ours (Virginia) at a tax on hybrids and electric cars every year. The rationale: Gas taxes pay for road repairs and maintenance. Since these don't use as much gas, you earn an additional tax to help pay for the roads. Not a big deal, but when you're comparing prices, may want to add these in.

CVT in the Toyota is going to cost a ton once it fails and it will fail. CVT kills it for me on the Toyota. Never needed AWD, with the weight and FWD, I get through any snow I've had to get through. Hybid might save a lot of money at the pump but initial cost of Toyota is a good chunk more and if/when battery fails, well.

HP, reliability, and style are what I look for in a vehicle so I bought the Odyssey. It was a no brainer. The Sienna is down 40HP on the Honda so who wants to drive a mini van with “adequate power” and what’s up with that big swoosh on the side? The only thing I will add to my Odyssey is a set of better performing tires because the OEM set are good at improving gas mileage but not much else. I was driving a Pacifica and have to say the Odyssey has more of a car like feel. At least test drive the Big O before buying anything else.

I love reading the comment section watching people argue about minivans. All I want to say is for those who are looking for speed and rather pick the Odessey, don’t buy the minivan, but a civic type r because who wants to be drag racing in a minivan. Sure you may get up to speed more in the odessey but the Sienna does pretty well in that department. I’m a Toyota lover but the Odessey is more versatile so I’ll give you that. But the mpg is the deal breaker for me cuz minivans are family cars that will most likely go for long road trips

No youtubers talk about sienna steering wheel. Its very stiff compare to odyssey. Sienna braking is weak compare to odyssey. Sienna engine is noisy. No you tube reviewer talk about battery replacement cost of sienna after 150000 miles which can be $5000 to $15000 if you count both batteries. Take sienna on highway on hills and then review it. Highway mileage on odyssey and sienna not much different. Sienna gets 32 on hwy and odyssey get 27. Only good thing about sienna is mpg when you drive in city. Dont buy sienna before test drive on highway with uphill. It doesnt snow much upnorth if you are buying sienna for awd. If money not an issue, buy an oddyssey. If you mostly drive in city ,buy sienna. For highway use, buy odyssey.

I give the Sienna an advantage, since the extra $2k in price is offset by the AWD system. I think if the test included the Sienna's FWD option, the pricing would have been a lot closer to the Odyssey, which does not offer AWD in any trim.

Toyota 3yr leasing for past 15 yrs and below are findings...... 1. 3rd row window can't be opened anymore 2. The conversation mirror is too small, hense useless... 3. Driver seat is too high for a driver 6ft n above 4. Front bumber is too low for newer crub heights 5. Using Accessories mode will drain the small battery dead. So have ur van ignition turned on at all times.... 6. 3rd row flipping mechanism is of low quality compared to previous non-hybrid models..

I would love to see a detailed video comparison on the highest model available of the 8-seater Sienna with the highest model Odyssey. I have ALWAYS wanted a Sienna, it's been my dream car for YEARS, however I have been spoiled by my last several cars that have had all of the creature comforts and I want those still, but there are only a few reasons I want a minivan over an SUV, I want sliding doors, and I want to fit 8 people comfortably without sacrificing cargo space behind the 3rd row. We have a 2015 Durango, and while my stroller is quite large, when the 3rd row is up, it barely fits back there, and that's with only one stroller seat, not sure a 2nd stroller seat would fit. So, obviously both vans check those two boxes, but only the Odyssey has any decent creature comfort options. My plan is to go test drive an Odyssey and then go to the Toyota dealership to see what options the Sienna XLE 8-seater can be ordered with, and what can be added when it arrives. I'm really hoping the Sienna comes out on top, but we'll see. It's also a much better looking vehicle and I always admire them when I see them on the road!

You failed to show the “emptied” cargo space and how the 2nd row seats are either removed or stowed. I’m looking for a replacement for my beloved Olds Silhouette….best daily car I’ve ever owned. Used it mostly empty to haul. The 2nd row was completely removable (pretty heavy but easy) to haul 4x8 plywood. Any info before I run the dealership gauntlet? The odyssey is the van for the buyer who loves the drive. It’s not a sports car but compared to the other minivans on the market it has always been the most enjoyable to drive. Reliability I pretty hard to judge right now with the Toyota powertrain still being so new. Being a Toyota it will probably be fine but I don’t know how I feel about a small engine in such a large vehicle and a battery that will need to be replaced someday. The awd is nice in the sienna but it’s rear drive is only the electric motors from the hybrid system. There is no connection to the engine in the front. Will be interesting to see if that becomes problematic over time. Maybe I’m getting old but I like the tried and true simplicity of a naturally aspirated engine and standard transmission even at the expense of fuel economy. Especially because these vehicles are workhorses that will likely be abused.

I have a 2013 Odyssey so I can't comment on the latest models, but the 3rd row is relatively comfortable. I'm sure the recent ones are similar. On the other hand, I checked out a new Sienna and found the third row to be unacceptable, especially on the lower trim. I found the bottom cushion to be stubby and too firm. What is the reasoning behind these companies not putting AWD in their minivans? As someone who lives in the north, this is the biggest factor in choosing the Sienna over any other. I would totally consider the Odyssey or the Carnival or something else if they had AWD. But as it stands I’m limited to the Sienna or Pacifica and I just really don’t want a Chrysler..
