I’ve owned v8s, 6 cylinder turbo, supercharged v8s, wrx etc.. all these cars sound very nice in their own way.. now I have a i30 sedan N and it also sounds great in its own way. It has its own tone and is cool.. like a rotary or wrx… they all sound good in their own way..

My MK1 (which I stupidly sold during COVID) converted me from the expensive to own and run German marques, to Korean. I don't even look at German cars anymore. I want one of theses again so much.

Ive had my MY25 i30N a couple months. Only mods I've done is the bushes to stop the wheel hop and the Forge Intake, GFB BOV, XForce Midpipe for more cool noises lol. Happy to keep this car basically stock performance wise until the warranty runs out then get a 240kw tune at the wheels its so much fun to drive everyday!

I was surprised how good the DCT actually was in these (coming from someone who has only owned manual cars). But i couldn't do it and figured this was probably the last every manual hot hatch i'd be able to buy new, so went with the manual. Aside from the obvious complaints about the intrusive "safety" systems, I wish I could lock the digital cluster to one of the others modes when in N or N Custom mode. Like you, I want to run it every day in a N Custom mode but I don't need the track focused cluster for day to day driving.

Can't wait for mine, MY25 Premium Manual in Ultimate Red. Hoping mid-January I'm in it. Same, If I had the time with the DCT as I've had, before signing my life away, (as I have one currently as a loaner), I'd actually swing towards the DCT. However, like you, went the manual. Rarity of the manual in the PDe6, might swing in our favor. One thing that worried me is the tech in the DCT. Although they have proven to be very solid, what if something really goes wrong? How much $$$ are you up for? What's the maintenance on a DCT over time? As for the Golf/GTi DSG's, it's not cheap. Manual, what are you up for? A clutch possibly?

@@shaktech9614 If all you care about is faster, than buy an Ioniq 5N. Every manual owner knows and understands it is the inferior product in terms of raw speed, but raw speed was never the point. It's about engagement, which for many, equals enjoyment.

Picked my MY25 N up a month ago and love it so far! Although as an overall package I wouldn’t say it’s any better or worse than my mk7 GTi I had four years ago. Golf was definitely nicer to drive, even in sport modes, but I like the more “racey” feel and appeal of the new N. DCT is definitely fantastic, I do regret getting the pano roof though as it creaks and makes noises because literally the whole roof is glass. Love the seats in the premium, they are a perfect balance between comfort and sporty. In a world where everything is getting way more expensive, I still think these things represent good value for money. I did consider the GR Corolla and Civic Tyre R, but failed to justify the extra $15k for either. Nice review as always mate, always enjoy your videos!

Is there any fixes for the pano roof creaks, or was it reported to hyundai?

@@Dragonborn2262 it’s not that bad but definitely noticeable. It’s a common thing apparently. It’s common among other N owners of the same model. I’ve learnt to just kind of deal with it and write it off as a quirky feature. Maybe I went to far by saying I regret buying the premium with roof coz of the creaking, it’s more because I don’t need a sunroof and never use it lol. But I guess the creaking is to be expected in a car in this price bracket when you have a massive heavy glass panel being help in place by rubber seals. There’s other rattles as well, there’s a rattle in the B pillar as well. Another common thing with this model I’m told. It’s just that my golf has NONE of these quirks at all and that car had 30,000kms when I sold it and my N is still only brand new. But don’t get me wrong, it’s a bloody sensational car, and I smile and giggle with enjoyment every time I drive it 😀

@danielcave7065 cheers for the reply, I test drove an auto 25 model today, however I'm purchasing the manual with sunroof etc, for the money you pay i can understand how it can be a slight annoyance . I think I'll barely ever use the sunroof also but I just like how it ads a nice look to the car also and its also there if ever needed haha. Do you mind me asking what did you pay ? And what accessories did you ad or recieve and bonus stuff to seal the deal? I'm trying to get 57k drive away

I got a 2019 i30 N Line with 7 spd DCT after previously owning mostly JDM cars. Super impressed with Hyundai! It's a great car. I'm now saving for an i30N but think I'll opt for manual 😁

Hot hatches are pretty much the perfect car. Enough power to have fun, with the practicality of a small run around. Win win. i do wish Ford gave the XR5 an auto option for city traffic.

Next time you're in the Albury Wodonga area, hit me up. I'll take you for a ride in my 2023 N-Line and show you that you do not need the i30N considering the price difference. My daily has its brakes fully modified with a sway bar kit, no more than $2500 in total. Car rides like a go kart on rails. Bought a 2nd one for the missus. And an i30 PD 2.0 for off road fun. Oh, and an XR6 NA that still drives like it came off the line... so yeah, hit me up.

@@russell3436 A German channel dynoed the car. They found out the engine pushes around 305hp stock (confirmed by many other dynos) and NGS doesnt really add any HP, but it does increase the torque a bit in the midrange and it makes the gear changes so fast, that their dyno literally didnt show ANY dip during shifts.

I can say that Reality is grim,especially here in Europe with the i30N and even i20N You in Aussie are the last line of defense for these 2 cars to stay in Production. As here in Europe (and UK) they are now a driving rarity,and its not fault of Hyundai but rather the people that think cars are the probleme for the environment (spoiler,they arent) I have a i30N 2020 PFL and cant be more happy with her. Fast,Fun,Practical and a very good daily here in Germany I dont want to image how the future will be for Europe here and the future for cars,many want the ICE gone,but cant afford a EV now either (Situation with VW) "But we must reach our goal of Net-0 for Emissions" mate you make emissions when going the that fancy Cruise Ship that uses the worst fuel like 3 million cars at once. Speaking from experience I can say that the i30N is awesome and worthy of the money to keep and sustain the fun in every day driving.

its crazy that the WEF do gooders can argue that this hot hatch is to bad on emissions... like its a 4 cyl little car.. they want you all in electric cars so they can control us more easily.. the petrol car has to much freedom

@@RossReviewsau Not only do I agree that they can spy on you with your EV,but how false it is that they are environment friendly. I am allowed to keep and drive my car,but from this year start you can no buy any more i30N or i20N,heck the Kona N was just starting to be sold here in Germany and it already died out in Production before it could reach its potential. Hyundai made astounding cars like these,dont think they would die out as its they flagship of cars,I was asked if the Ioniq 5N was to my taste,as much as I respect its power output,its not my style of fun for daily driving a 2 ton EV around,I love my Hot Hatch and ill keep mine even if it means moving to South Korea or even Australia (I have an aunt there)

@@RossReviewsau Cars like the i30N or the Miata 2.0L engine are getting banned, while we allow 2t road tanks, with biturbo V8s... makes no sense. But that said, the reason the i30N got banned is because its engine isnt Euro 7 compliant. Hyundai does have the Euro 7 compliant 2.5L Smartstream, but they simply didnt care. And the i20N doesnt make any sense, as its engine could easily be Euro 7 compliant.

The DCT is great. Have one currently as a loan car. But the DCT farts, the hesitation and lag of the gear shifts. It's not for me. However, using the shifter in manual mode, it's very good and the changes are quick. But I really want the manual. It's such an easy manual to get used to, way more engaging and fuN than the DCT. I just prefer a manual transmission and the i30N's is great. Had a 2018 PDe2 i30N Hatch that has been the best car I''ve had. Awaiting delivery of an Ultimate Red PDe6 'manual' premium hatch and will love it to death.

Yeah u guys can be really proud to purchase this i30N for the upcoming next two years. Because in Europe they cancelled production in March this year. But i need to say that the faclift isn‘t really a facelift the biggest difference is the digital cluster. i hope they would mark a 300hp final edition or something like that

Yeah, I got one of the last new i30N here in Germany some month ago. Serenty white hatch, manual, PiperX intake,.. love it and it offers so much more drama than the GTI 7.5 i had before.

Great review - seriously considering getting one in DCT. I haven't actually driven one yet - but I have been told that the over-speed alert can be very intrusive and has to be turned off if you decide to visit Mexico. Also, why do they persist in forcing Octane Learning each time you fill up if you want all the beans available all the time? Awesome review - keep 'em coming!

Still mad that Hyundai decided to can their N cars for Europe and probably the rest of the planet soon after. The rumored next gen i30N sounded insane: 2.5L I4 Smartstream (the one already used in the American market, but with a bigger turbo and ECU mapping), the known 8 speed DCT and a torque vectoring AWD system. FYI: I read somewhere that they already wanted to go AWD with the i30N Facelift, but they would have needed to drop the LSD and didnt had a torque vectoring diff avaible, which ruined the handling. So they went FWD again with a further improved LSD. Imho the right decision, a completely open diff AWD hot hatch is terrible.

Just updated my my19 manual to a 25 dct premium worh sun roof, so good hopefully there's an update soon to turn off the stupid speed limter alarm. Also the premium seats are firm that's all! Rest is great oh i wish it haf adaptive cruise. Paid $55400 drive away

We are now to have 1 version 5 (Our sons ) 1 MY 25 DCT Premium with SRF (Wifes ) and I'm awaiting my MY25 Manual Premium with SRF. Can you tell that we are sold on them (as they might be the last fun car we will have thanks to govts ) ? Less crash on backroads an bottoming out than my I20 and more space than my wifes KONA N .Thanks for the Video

Thanks for another great review but I have to take issue with your pricing and description of the facelift as just a "sticker kit". I can see from the seats that the car you're reviewing is the i30n non-premium model. The non-premium facelift model comes with front parking sensors, auto dimming interior mirror, privacy glass and rain sensing wipers all of which were available on the premium model only before the release of the facelift. The base price before dealer delivery and on-road costs only went up $800 from $49200 to $50000 if you're comparing 2024 pre-facelift and facelift models. I'm not associated with Hyundai in any way. I just want to see more people enjoying these great cars.

Pretty much annihilates 98% of all the 700+BHP rides you've tested from 0-100kph..all for $60k..give it a mild tune and better rubber and you're looking at low 4's...

Technology means that everything new quick to 100 so it's really not impressive anymore. Still takes big money to be proper fast and the modified cars with proper traction will feel supersonic compared to this hot hatch on a 1/4 mile or roll racing. The reality in Australia is that even flat footing a car to 100 is considered hooning, which can get it impounded or your license suspended. So, even 0-100 means nothing as a street performance metric now.

I keep saying time and time again how far Hyundai have come in so little time, the N division has only been around since 2017 so it might not have the reputation of the JDM cars of the 90s, early 2000s which have degraded so far. Subaru is not what it use to be at all and the WRX is not the car it once was, the Evo is dead, the Supra is just a rebadged overpriced BMW, Nissan hasn’t made anything noteworthy besides that overpriced Z, the only decent competition is the new FK8 Type R and the Toyota’s GR brand, you can argue VW Golf R is good but that is atleast 30k extra over the i30N. The performance, the exhaust, the exterior and interior are all exceptional, for around 50k this is an absolute bargain, you’re getting performance equivalent to an 80k car, I see Hyundai’s N brand as like a “budget” BMW M ever since Albert Biermann transformed them into a major league player in the performance division, and now you have the IONIQ 5N obliterating supercars that cost 3-4x its already hefty price tag.

@@GoogleAccount-pt4zu I did a rough comparison last night from a vid of my ss and it’s about the same, mines a auto and not lowered so it launches pretty sweet, it’s also tuned, exhaust and otr..very similar till 100 but wouldn’t be surprised if the ss eventually pull away..the i30 would eat the ss on corners I imagine the..the ss is a boat😂

I don’t know. I see a lot of them on the road and they all try to race me… I feel you’ve outgrown it after you turn 18. Even my ML400 is faster. I can’t deny it would be a fun car to drive, like going down a slide at the kid’s park, but it just wouldn’t feel right as an adult. Besides, you can buy a good second-hand Audi RS3 for that money or A45 AMG.

@@olik9388 I’m sorry but I don’t think your ML400 is faster than this, ever heard of power to weight. The ML400 weighs as much as a boat with aerodynamics of a brick. Sure it has more power from its 3.0L TT V6 at 245kW but the extra 500+kgs it has over the i30 N would definetly hinder its performance.

@@russell3436 I was just going by my Dragy times. It has a stage 1 tune and the torque is what really hides the weight and 4 magic grip. You can increase power in a front or rear wheel driven car, but usually just makes the performance worse from a dig. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate anything in the low 5s 0-100 is impressive.

@@olik9388 you never mentioned it was tuned, that’s why its quicker, but stock for stock the i30 N would eat it, it does 0-100 almost an entire second quicker and roll-on acceleration is a whole other animal in the i30 N.

This thing sounds fully hectic, so many cars these days sound so quiet and dull due to restricted emissions unless you put some aftermarket exhaust, for a car to sound like this from factory these days is extremely rare. Also what exactly is a “Lebo car” Most arabs drive AMG’s, BMW M’s or oldschool JDM’s
