Jeep has serious issues to address urgently with its customers, who are paying a premium price yet facing a significant safety concern-a battery problem that poses a risk of fire or explosion. Despite the urgency, no fix has been made available, leaving customers vulnerable and without solutions. Don't be sorry about the long explanation. As a 4xe owner, this was spot on and most buyers I feel don't understand until they live with it for a few weeks/months. I have a 21 Rubicon 4xe and it's been solid. No battery degradation, few recalls as expected but no issues. We've taken it too all the places a Jeep would go. Got badge of honors, winched it twice after it got stuck (hard to do) and just enjoyed our time with it. I live in a city and can go a few months without putting gas in it. I drive usually short trips that I can pop it back on the L2 charger at home between errands. When I know I need to go on the HWY for distance or up long climbs I just run the engine because it is way more efficient to do that and use the electric for 0-45mph periods.
@leewoiteshek419226 күн бұрын
Have a 2021 Rubicon 4xe. Most my trips are less than 25 miles. Which is about what my battery gives me. I plug my in every day, and I get 800 miles to the tank before the computer makes me burn the gas before it goes stale. During the two recalls which don't allow charging I'm getting about 22 mpg.
@ALMX5DP26 күн бұрын
800 miles per tank seems pretty good (by my math like ~45mpg). How does the power feel driving purely in just EV mode? 134hp/181lbft doesnt seem like a lot for a 5000lb vehicle but if it's decent enough at sub 35-45mph speeds that would be okay by me.
@nathanm892126 күн бұрын
My 23 Sahara is getting right at 24.5 mpg. Before the recall it was averaging 31. Almost all city driving. Also plugged in every day.
@nathanm892126 күн бұрын
@ALMX5DP it's a little slow but certainly good enough for city stoplight driving. Once you get it in hybrid mode with the slap stick manual mode this thing is pretty quick. Very fun for something so silly.
@robsolf25 күн бұрын
@@ALMX5DP I find it accelerates from a light faster than most people typically do. And the smoothness of it is nice. It'll do highway speeds on fairly flat roads and mild headwind, but sometimes it will kick the ICE on and assist instead, with still a big boost to MPG. It's a niche of a niche. If you don't have a garage to charge it in, or have a long commute, or live in extreme heat or cold, I think it would be a poor choice.
@dbldare25 күн бұрын
@@ALMX5DP Check those specs again. The 4xe's are 375 horse with 470 ft/lbs of torque. From a stand still, it will throw you back into the seat! For the full power of the Jeep, you need to be in 4 High. With that, mine spins all four tires. Plenty of power here.

Was ready to buy a ‘24 Gladiator not a Wrangler (though same issue applies.) But Jeep and presumably all of Stellantis collects and sells all of your driving data to insurance companies … and there is no way to opt out or otherwise stop it without essentially bricking most of the connectivity of the vehicle, including many/all other “legitimate” features. Of course other car companies do this nefarious selling of driving data, but Jeep (and Subaru is another I’m aware of in my shopping/research) gives you no means to simply opt out. Ford and Toyota also do this (collect/sell) but both give you a one touch option in the infotainment screen or app to opt out.

If only Jeep and their dealers weren't so stupid! So Jeep reduced reliability and quality and upped their prices to compete in the luxury market. Even though their bread and butter is the "working man" that really can't afford $70k Jeeps. Add to that the fire issue, poor mpg for a hybrid, death wobble and on and on. So, Jeep finally decided to offer $ 7,500 cash back to entice sales (still not working). My local Jeep dealer has 150 - ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY Wrangler 4XE's alone! None less than $45k and on most the DEALER ADDED BACK ON A $7,500 dealer fee to offset the Jeep discount! So very many are still $65 - 75K. They might want to eventually sell them before they turn to lot rust buckets! Jeep might as well just fold up shop now!

Your comment on your head hitting the top sound bar. Is somewhat incorrect. The very tops of our seats are not considered “headrest“ there are actually head restraints. While driving, you are actually not supposed to have your head on that part of the seat. It’s supposed to be upright and looking forward. The reason why The head restraint is there is to prevent our heads from snapping back in the event of a collision. That’s why they are supposed to be adjusted accordingly to limit the movement, backwards, of our head.
