Several Oscar records were set as a result of these nominations (let me know if there is more): - At 13 nominations, EMILIA PEREZ is now officially the most Oscar-nominated non-English language film of all time, surpassing CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON and ROMA for the record (both got 10 each). It also marks the first time ever that a non-English language film is the solo nominations leader in a given year (ROMA was tied with THE FAVOURITE back in 2018). - This year marks the 2nd year in a row that more than 1 non-English language film made the Best Picture lineup (I'M STILL HERE and EMILIA PEREZ). Last year saw 3 (PAST LIVES, THE ZONE OF INTEREST, and ANATOMY OF A FALL). I'M STILL HERE becomes the first Brazilian film ever nominated for Best Picture as well. - Timothee Chalamet becomes only the 8th ever male actor to receive at least 2 acting Oscar nominations before age 30, after Mickey Rooney, Marlon Brando, Richard Burton, Sal Mineo, James Dean, Edward Norton, and Heath Ledger. The inclusion of I'm Still Here is very interesting. I can actually see Fernanda Torres winning Best Actress. I always thought they wouldn't give it to Mikey Madison, too young & not really established enough. It's between Demi Moore & Fernanda Torres, both with narratives to win. Could we actually see a International Film/Best Picture split now. I though if Emilia Perez (nomination leader) won International Film would they also give it Best Picture??? The Brutalist with 10 nominations makes me so happy. My favourite film of the year. Thrilled for Anora, The Wild Robot, The Substance, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong - all movies & performances I liked this year. Shocked Conclave underperformed a little. Not as shocked by Dune Part 2. Usually it isn’t until the last film in the series that they really go all in on it. I better see Dune Messiah nominated everywhere. I would swap Mangold for Villeneuve/ Audiard for Berger in a heartbeat. I’m Still Here in Best Picture is still the shock of the night but a welcome one. From everything I’ve heard… Can’t wait to see it. I don’t think Emilia Perez should have 13 nominations. Wow.
