I reckon it's great that finally there's a car with cooled but not heated seats. Makes a lot more sense for Australia. What's with all the black editions of cars lately? Seems kinda silly, and black "highlights" is an oxymoron.

8:10, it does have lane keep assist, I think it is named smart pilot assist in the car. The lane departure warning activates automatically above 60 kmph and LKA activates with the ACC.

It’s funny you talk about FWD being no good for going off road. 40 years ago a mate of my drove off road across Dartmoor in the UK, (not legal) in a 70’s mini panel van on 10 inch steel wheels 😮. An amazing vehicle ! It’s also interesting that, again, going back a few years, the Swedes made FWD cars to drive through the snow in very cold winters. I suppose it is subjective but Europeans are used to driving smaller FWD cars that can go pretty much anywhere.

This is a vast improvement from the Mahindras of the past. Pretty sure Ssangyong must've played a role in this when it was owned by the Indian company until 2 years ago. A parent company would make sure they milk every drop out of their investment. Especially given the Korean brand has Mercedes originated technology blended with their 4x4 body-on-frame specialty.

@@jinsei1202 Mahindra just got a Platform from Ssangyong nothing more than that. The Tivoli based XUV 300 is still in production. Mahindra has been engineering body on frames for years. That's a really good review of an impressively decent cheap and practical SUV. One point of order though - 13:39 There is no way that there is 241 litres of usable space with the 3rd row up. They must have measured that to the roof!

Great review, really happy to see one of India's most popular cars being acknowledged over at Australia! Interestingly, here in India we also get an AWD version, a 6-seater option for the XUV700 (captain seats for the middle row) and also drive modes for the petrol variant. Also, the 3 screens you mentioned in development are likely going to debut with the Electric version of XUV700, due to be unveiled later this month. Would also love to hear your thoughts on the Mahindra Thar 5-door. And if you do get a chance next time you're in India - do check out the Tata Safari. It is the main competitor for the XUV 700's here in the Indian market. Love from India!

1) The way he drove in distorted bumpy road with curves certifies that its thoroughly enginerred suv. A suv of that size handles such curves at high speed is damn impressive. 2) its not a race car. Not meant for quick acceletation. Its comfortable cruiser for very long hours of driving without any tiredness. 3) with more soft grippy tyre and smooth tarmac road it stops 100 kmph to 0 kmph in just 36 meters distance. Its already tested in india.

Mahindra is not a new company, well they have been making cars, jeeps, buses, tractors, farming equipments and trucks since mid 40s. This is a big company and they have shifted the gears in quality after acquiring companies like Pininfarina (company responsible for designing Ferraris and other popular cars). Mahindra North America is the #1 selling farm tractor in the world by volume, earlier they focused on making Utes, jeeps and army vehicles only i.e. why Mahindra Utes feel very agricultural but trust me you will find them with 1million kms on odo meter in India from Himalayas in North and East to Thar desert in the west to tea plantations of Coorg in the South loaded with twice the load on the tray. Their new cars have a few niggles(but so does many cars today with technology crammed into them). But they have been stepping up the game rapidly lately. They have their in house motors(their diesels are one of the most refined motors in today's time), R&D centres and previously long term joint venture with companies like Ford, Renault, Ssangyong and Skoda. Fun fact: This particular car was suppose to be rebadged as Ford. They have a massive in-house demands with people waiting for even 2 years for few models in India (third largest car market in the world). They are not cheap but just affordable and competitive and that is why cut corners here and there. P.S. not a fan boy but letting people know some insights about the company and it is a similar story with Royal Enfield being the global leader for mid sized motorcycles and Tata company (another giant with diverse portfolio) saving Ford from bankruptcy by acquiring Landcover and Jaguar back in the days. They all are owned by visionaries and automobile enthusiasts and not some corporate moguls.
