You asked for my thoughts on the color combination of your test vehicle, so as somebody with a CX-70 PHEV Premium incoming in Melting Copper Metallic with a Greige Leather interior, I’ll share them with you. I like the red int. with several Premium colors (e.g., PolyMetal Grey), but it clashes horribly with the new Melting Copper! I HATE black leather (hot in the summer, cold in the winter and slippery 100% of the time!), so with the Premium trim, greige (GREy+beIGE) was my choice!

Dig that “Red” (more Burgundy) interior………very BMW-esque…….Links perfect with their Polymetal Gray Metallic.

It does look phenomenal with Polymetal gray.

I dont normally like that kind of color, but this copper looks really good. It's like that one they have on the lexus rx, but with less pinkish hue.

It’s funny to me how brutally the depth of the butterfly-opening center console is criticized; the following are stored in mine: my pen & small notepad, change for tolls, business card stack, slim card wallet, 2 USB-C cords (1 w/USB-A and 1 USB-C), a Bic safety lighter and an Oxo bottle opener (for MX Coca-Cola, not for beer or any other alcohol).

I believe I saw someone lift up the liner below the third row, and it's primarily sound deadening under there.

That’s a lot of sound deadening. Lol

Agreed! My beloved 10-yr-old CX-5 with 198K miles on it has EPA-rated highway gas mileage of 35 MPG (note it's FWD only, 2.0L I4 ICE & 6-spd. fully M/T). of course, I've always loved to drive, unlike so many Lexus owners who, in my experience, would prefer to be chauffeured.

You didn't comment on the lack of cooled seats in the 2nd row or the comfort of the space in the drivers cockpit. Any thoughts?

Hard to beat for the price. Curious how they will hold their value long term?

Agreed. Time will tell. They are seeing some issues with recalls on the powertrains, but it should be a solid vehicle once they sort that out. (New powertrains are susceptible to issues. Just look at what Toyota is going through with their Tundra at the moment.)

@@GTGarageTalk Anything yet about the PHEV powertrain? Mine’s been flawless in its 1st 6 weeks & 3,300 miles. But still….

Did I see the third row rear leg vents were still in there? Seems weird to have airflow in the trunk area if so

Somebody actually said “for car camping.” But I’m not buying it!

It is stupid that in a 2025 model, the infotainment system is not touch screen all the time. Touch screen only works when using car play then you have to use the knob. Not sure what Mazda is thinking. All new cars now offer touch screen with or without car play. This is reason for me not to buy one.

The number of low battery miles is ridicules ! 18 years of plug in cars, this is lowest I have ever seen !
@DeeEllEff2 ай бұрын
Really? (I think that you mean) ridiculous, is it? The lowest (I think that you mean) electric-only mileage in the 18 years of PHEV (since 2006)? Check out: * Mazda CX-70 PHEV: 26.1 mi * * Audi Q5 e Premium 55: 19-23 miles * * BMW (RWD) 330e: 23 miles * * Jeep Wrangler 4 x e: 22 miles * * 2020-21 BMW X3 xDrive30e: 17.6 miles *

Shall I go on? If I go back just a couple of years (mid-MY 2022), the Volvo XC60 Recharge joins the list w/18 miles “battery”…

I don’t know where this guy is getting “134 hp” for electric hp, since the figure is actually 173, & gas-only hp from the 2.5L I4 is 189, minus the combining losses makes it total 323 hp! Wait, did he take 323-189=134 to get the electric motor’s hp? Not how that works, dude! Pls consult an automotive engineer!
@DeeEllEffАй бұрын
P.S. Mazda’s electric motor in the CX-70/CX-90 is 68kW not the 100kW shown on screen. And the PHEV hp on 87 octane fuel is 304 (319 is what the 340 hp I-6 Turbo makes on reg. gas) Just a few minor corrections….

Sir, Mazda is NOT a premium/luxury brand. Its a mainstream brand that compete with Hyundai/Kia, Toyota and Honda. Why are even placing it against true premium/luxury such as Acura and Lexus?
@GTGarageTalk5 ай бұрын
Their top trims are legitimate Lexus competitors.
@rinkashime34585 ай бұрын
You need to start admitting that Mazda is now on a different level and it is unfair to compare it to Toyota, Honda, especially to Hyundai and Kia.

Mazdas are technically more like Buick and Lexus than Toyota and Honda. Mainstream price but premium quality

I was in one 4 days ago. The fit, finish and materials are well up there with Lexus and Acura. (Not to mention acoustics!) They have left Toyota and the others a ways behind on this one and are a complete challenge to the previous mentioned Lexus and Acura. Good and fair review I agreed with most of your comments.
