@@bilalbasit While I agree that the premium Mazda offers the best quality/price ratio (value for money) for the financial freedom seekers, it is not at all a luxury brand (luxury goes beyond features and materials) - and Mazda doesn't intend to go there, as they are in the sweet spot between the upper mass-market Toyota and the entry luxury Lexus, being close to Lexus regarding the materials and the refinement and yet with an excellent pricing strategy (close to Toyota pricing, usually less the additional markups some stealerships are taking over the MSRP). Of the more than a dozen YT reviews of my new vehicle, the CX-70, yours is the best, man. If anybody’s actually paying attention to your content they’ll get that as good as some aspects of the Lexus RX lineup are, as well as updates to Acura MDX, the real vehicle value shocker here is Mazda’s latest creation. Lexus (entry, discreet luxury) clearly wins for those seeking the luxurious side of the top Japanese (especially hybrid) reliability. But the premium Mazda is very, very good too (no surprise for its fans), its quality/price ratio (value for money) attracting financial freedom seekers too. Acura is a shadow of what it used to be, but still good, benefitting from Honda tech, with premium to entry luxury materials. But, at $68k, the X5 doesn't have real leather seats or a head-up display, and has an MSRP that's about $14k more than the MSRP of a Turbo S Premium CX-70 which has just about every imaginable feature and a 340 horsepower, turbo in-line 6, mild hybrid engine which gets surprisingly good gas mileage. Also, the CX-70 is fun to drive. So, I decided to take a chance on the all new (too new?) CX-70. Three months and 3,000 miles later, I'm still glad that I did.

The door and center console trim that looks like wood on the Mazda feels cheap and brittle when you tap you fingers on it. Also, so much flex in the headliner when closing the sunglasses holder. Way over - complicated manual transmission with a manual clutch converted into an automatic transmission which can actually disengage while at highway speeds. This is experimental trouble waiting to happen. I try to keep my vehicles in top condition and for as long as I can. I anticipate major problems with the Mazda's transmission and the Lexus 4 cylinder junk. Drive a 2022 rx with the v6 and you won't settle for less. I'm not happy with the fuel mileage of the mdx, but I buy a car to use it, for hauling people and many things to airports, football tailgates, school events, going to dinner and a show with family and friends, you name it, and after having nearly every major brand throughout our family including bmw and benz, ford, g.m. and chrysler, our most confidence came from hondas and toyotas. You realize that your last point is irrelevant simply because Ford is above Honda as it is, right? How could you compare? Honda makes mainstream, economical vehicles for a different market. I left lexus to a 1.5 year old BMW X5 as i can’t understand the philosophy of raising the prices, and lowering the engine to 4 cylinder on the RX. A laughable digital gauge cluster that is now better in 2025, stupid touchpad on steering on high trims where you have to look at your hud for cruise control setup and overall generally low tech. The 450h+ and 500h are over 90k in canada…. Nope. The acura’s engine still use a timing belt and although part of me likes the design the other part thinks its dated. Mazda looks ok if you don’t care about luxury car but not for me. I encourage people to consider a BMW X5 if they love tech and need towing capacity, but consider slightly used as you save on steep depreciation, but what a machine. The X5 is rated no 1 on CR.

@@Mathguy363right. The Lexus and Acura are luxury *divisions whereas Mazda makes standalone premium vehicles with unparalleled heritage and design philosophies. Mazda has been around since the 1900’s and Acura and Lexus? What? The late 80’s in attempt to rival the Germans and Americans? At least Mazda is more of a real deal
@christianbryant5617Ай бұрын
@@Mathguy363 while I respect your opinion and sharing your view of the brand, you did ask one question in the end that I want to respectfully answer. While Mazda has made plenty of city cars that come close to the economically driven brands you mentioned, look at the Integra, CT200h, and all the entry models we have from Europe, like the 1 series, A1 line, and the A class. The prices in which Mazda displayed previous city models in America were merely displayed as cheaper alternatives to the brand itself, not to fully go after the Toyota and Hondas. I understand this has blurred the lines and Mazda has had a confusing and inconsistent track, but their intentions have always been there. You don’t compare a Mazda 3 to a Toyota Corolla because it’s a different experience all around. Not only are the prices generally supposed to be higher, at Mazda, you won’t have dealer sharks trying to “get you a good deal,” you won’t have much advertising to get you there, you’ll be driven around on a golf cart at the lot, they will throw in free accessories for pride, and you’ll be served a freakin cappuccino or Mazda branded Voss water while you wait lol. These aren’t necessarily gimmicks or a try-hard mentality, it just speaks to Mazda’s nature. You go in to your first service and the basics are titled “Mazda recommend packages,” likely a $175-189 transaction. In contrast, a Corolla is serviced at a Jiffy lube for $50 because it’s such a popular and easy to work on car. You fill your car up with gas in a 3 and you get stares and compliments. You drive spiritedly, seamlessly with the road. You maintain high autobahn speeds and stay planted. You are prompted with Mazda heritage, design and engineering precision, and motor sports pedigree achievements/promotions online by reviewers and the fan base. You have people see the logo on your car and say “ohh, those are those little cars with nice interiors and great performance..” Sorry for the long reply, but I’m passionate about automotive prowess and underdog brands. People still have views towards Volvo in my experience as analogy, because they remember the more economically driven models they had a while back. Hardships imo don’t erase a brand’s history or market position, it just makes them more unique and attractive.
@Mathguy363Ай бұрын
@@christianbryant5617 Holy that was an essay! I agree with you Mazda is a great brand, you get a great car for a super cheap price. To address the point of comparing it to the ct200h, integra, a-class, 1 series, and the a1, those were all cars made to compete with economical brands ( and generally don’t sell many of them). All of those cars listed are already a lot more expensive than a Mazda3, and they weren’t successful because it’s an entirely different target demographic. It’s great to hear Mazda gives great service, I own a Lexus and it’s pretty much on par with all of the perks they throw in as well. I know a lot of people with Mazdas, and my friends dad had a dealership growing up (when they weren’t great 20+ years ago). It’s just to me the driving experience is nowhere near the premium brands. The handling is good but doesn’t compare to a BMW for example and are missing on the road feel while the suspension doesn’t compare to a Lexus and is nothing special performance wise. You can’t really get to autobahn speed in a Mazda 3, I’ve seen people go well over 300km/h, you can’t do that with a Mazda. I’m surprised you mentioned their history because Mercedes created the first car, BMW and Porsche has got an extensive racing history, and Audi has got the rally history. Mazda doesn’t even have a high performance model… they make good cars but like a Toyota Corolla or Honda civic, they don’t make you feel anything when seeing one or driving one, they just feel bland. In the end, people have different considerations when buying a car, but you don’t buy a Mazda because of the performance or luxury features, you get it because it’s the best bang for your buck
