Hello friends, today I introduce you to the 2025 Mazda CX-70 model. This stylish and functional SUV provides you with an independent driving experience and perfect comfort.
Mazda's recently introduced CX-70, along with its one-year-old counterpart, the CX-90, both belong to the mid-size SUV category and share a resemblance to competitors like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L. The CX-70, designed with two rows, accommodates five passengers, while the CX-90, having three rows, offers seating for up to eight individuals. However, Mazda's decision to present these two models under separate names seems peculiar, considering that the CX-70 closely mirrors the CX-90 in size, differing only in the absence of the rearmost row of seats. (It's worth noting that the Grand Cherokee L surpasses both in overall length and wheelbase.) Interestingly, the CX-70 boasts the same inline-six and plug-in-hybrid powertrain options as its sibling, and the primary distinctions lie in interior and exterior trim choices, along with a reconfigured cargo area. Drawing from our experience with the CX-90, we anticipate that the CX-70 will offer a comparably luxurious and refined SUV experience. Nevertheless, the rationale behind branding them as distinct models remains unclear, given their essential identical nature, barring the variation in seat capacity.
Innovations for 2025 include the introduction of the CX-70 to Mazda's lineup, although the vehicle itself closely mirrors the CX-90 unveiled the previous year. To distinguish the CX-70, it features blacked-out exterior trim and showcases a new wheel design. Mazda has also incorporated enhancements such as Amazon Alexa integration, along with the addition of an underfloor storage compartment in the cargo area.
As for pricing, the 2025 Mazda CX-70 is available at a starting price of $41,820, reaching up to $57,325 depending on the chosen trim and optional features. The decision between the standard and more potent version of the CX-70's inline-six depends on your preferences and budget, but opting for the S variant with an extra 60 horsepower is recommended for an enhanced driving experience. Regardless of the powertrain choice, we suggest going for the Premium trim, as it includes appealing features like 21-inch wheels, a hands-free power liftgate, a panoramic sunroof, a digital gauge display, a 12-speaker Bose stereo system, and a head-up display.
The CX-70 features a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six engine for all nonhybrid models, delivering 280 horsepower in the base version and 340 horsepower in the S trims. This powertrain has proven to be robust and smooth-running in the CX-90. However, the eight-speed automatic transmission can be occasionally hesitant to respond to commands from the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Although we anticipate similarities in driving characteristics between the CX-70 and CX-90, given their shared platform, there might be slight variations in suspension tuning.
