Believe the survey only really reported on the EVs. Bought my petrol HS new in 2022 and touch wood I’ve had no issues. Certainly interested in upgrading to the newer version in a couple of years. I like the look of this new HS the old one was just as nice but this is definitely an upgrade in terms of looks and quality. The interior I feel lifts the look of the car especially if the paintwork is black. Have a pre-facelift MG5 and it's been a cracking vehicle for work. I've never experienced any problems with MG as a brand and I think they are really making the legacy brands wake up.

I have had a ZS EV for three years with no major issues. I have just purchased the new HS PHEV and so far I’m very pleased. On my first long journey of 265 miles driving at 70 it’s averaged 54mpg. So much better than the ZS and worries about where to charge and how long it will add to the journey. If you look at the reliability issues most are to do with MG software. Most times my ZS had issues and went into the dealer it was the software not the hardware. It was reliable just annoying at times. The software was inconsistent, also it didn’t like some chargers. Once I demanded a software upgrade it was fine. It can take dealers some time installing software updates so they often won’t install the software unless you ask for it. Personally my MG’s have not let me down and pleased I purchase them.

I test drove an HS in 2022 and whilst I thought it was really well put together it had absolutely nowhere near enough legroom for a guy of my height. I'm 6'3" and my legs cramped up within a quarter of a mile cos the seat didn't ho back far enough. It was a shame as this was obviously a deal breaker. I ended up going for a Kadjar. So many new MGs on streets and driveways all around where I live. I think they only look good when they are new or possibly not more than 6 months old. When I went to buy (part exchange) used electric MG5 that was around 20000 miles and less than 3 years old from a MG dealer, I saw that even though it was less than half the price of new but it already had three owners, THREE! So that speaks volumes about MG reliability, that even while in warranty all these owners could not get the plethora of issues sorted and ended up getting rid of the car at a loss to themselves, only for the second and third owner to have the same problems.

It’s a fact that no one car is the most popular in every country. European brands dominate there, American brands dominate in America, in Asia Japanese and South Korean brands dominate etc but China is rapidly growing the its own brands which are now beginning to establish themselves throughout the world. In Australia we no longer manufacture vehicles and Japanese and South Korean vehicles have dominated the market but Chinese vehicles have become the low cost option. There had been lots of reluctance from buyers initially but build quality has rapidly improved, reliability has improved and generally considering the long warranties that buyer reluctance waining. The EV market is dominated by Tesla but the cheaper Chinese brands (still not cheap) are rapidly gaining market share. Resale values of Chinese vehicles has been a problem but no worse than European brands with the Japanese brands always being better. If geopolitics doesn’t impact as it appears it may, Chinese vehicles will continue to gain market as their vehicles and their manufacturing technology is surpassing the established brands.

About the false leather ... in order to understand why is wrong to have it on the car seats ... it is important to know why the real one has been placed there in the first place: the sponge of the seats generates irritation of the skin of the occupants ... because of its plastiqui components. The real leather is neutral. The false leather has the same plastiqui components as the sponge. That's why, it generates the same bad effect. In other words, it defeats the very purpose of covering the car seats with real leather - in the first place. So, it's a cheap & stupid decision. From this perspective ... a nice cotton seat cover ... coloured with no-chemical paint ... is preferable to the false leather. In fact, almost all the man-made-substituts for the natural materials ... are ridiculous & bad for our health. I would say that humanity should be decent enough ... to refrain themselves to challenge our Creators ... at least until we are able to create a fly ... able to lay viable eggs ... 🤭

@@Stimm002 I was using a high quality RODE genuine cable. Which is why I was disappointed.
@Stimm002Ай бұрын
@AutoSocialUK the brand or cost doesn't really matter. Look into usb connectors and cable specs. The whole thing is a massive mess. This means that if you want a cable for a specific purpose, you really do have to do your research. For example, the RODE is a great cable for ots purpose, but it's not a synchronous 2 way cable which you need for android auto. It's stupid how bad the usb implementers Forum have run and organised the standard. So in short it's not an issue with the car, it's an issue with usb standards, other than the car not being wireless I suppose but then it's a budget oriented car. To be clear, my comment wasn't a dig at you or your video. It was just for people information as most outside the tech industry don't know how usb works. They just think usb a or usb c ect. But really, the type of connection tells you nothing about what it's capable of.

The main issue is that when problems arise (which they do on all cars), the MG dealers are not really up to the job in getting any warranty work done on time. I believe this is predominantly a British issue as main dealers in other countries seems ok and up to the job. British car dealers have traditionally made good money from charging extortionate amounts for basic servicing and parts. The same dealers know that customer is restricted to getting routine repairs done at the dealership to avoid losing the warranty. Warranty work itself is dispised by dealers as it takes time for money to be paid by the manufacturer.
