Bought a 375 Ruger and the gun shop got me a few boxes of available ammo. The Hornady DG expanding, after firing them I wouldn't use them on any game. The first few I recovered were complete jacket/core separation. Absolutely the last thing you want on a game animal, let alone an encounter with dangerous creatures.

I have a question for the people at Hornedy. Why can't I get a 50 round box of ammunition loaded to full specification? Seems like everything I see in production is target loaded. Even some of the good performing hornedy defensive rounds like critical defense and critical duty are loaded Much softer than they need to be? Does Hornedy offer a plus P,, or a plus P plus with these fantastic projectiles? And if not, why? It seems like the backcountry defense ammo might be loaded to full specification. I have to try that. But I'd like to see some of the other ammunition loaded to maximum performance as well.

Instead of all these new cartridges, how about producing more of the existing cartridges and the products to reload them. I have owned and passed down to my son, a Marlin 444. I learned early on that the cartridge with the 240gr pistiol bullet, just wasn`t the best choice. I found that the 265gr round nose flat point was a superior choice and is what I used to reload for that gun. Neither my son or I are into the polymer tip bullet that you are pushing in that caliber. Please keep producing and supplying the 265gr round nose flat point for those of us who prefer to use and reload for our rifles. They have proven themselves to be an optimum choice for the 444.

Because they don’t care about the consumer. That’s what they do keep putting out new trash. The 6arc has been trash. The 22arc they copied from 22grendel and added freebore to “ make their own “ is trash. 22 grendel chambered guys are running 22 arc ammo and getting better results than 22 arc guys.

They are loading them. They are still selling as fast as they load them. The worst thing they could do is stop innovation. Why not load your own ammo?
@davidgingery89273 ай бұрын
@@jesusisalive3227 That`s what I`m saying. Right now you can`t buy the 265gr round nose flat point to reload your own ammo. Everybody is out of stock or when they do get a shipment, they`re sold out almost immediately. Hornady is too busy pushing all the new calibers and not producing enough of the old components to let us reload our favorite rounds.

@@davidgingery8927 They are producing as much as their machines will allow. They only have so many machines for each caliber. They are running 24/7. They are not shutting those machines down to produce other stuff.
@davidgingery89273 ай бұрын
@@jesusisalive3227 That is what we are all saying. They have their machines set up to produce all the new stuff and only produce small quantities of older components in limited runs. There are those of us who have the guns we like and don`t want to go out and buy the "latest and greatest" stuff on the market. I researched the guns I have before I bought them years back and the new stuff doesn`t really do anything different than what I already have, so why should I spend the money. We still need to be able to get the components for the stuff we have. All this new stuff will either fizzle out or become the "old stuff" in a short time and you won`t be able to get stuff for them because there will always be the new "latest and greatest" trying to take their place.

@@alexlaurent2967 .204 is quite capable, with an excess of 1000 foot pounds of energy at 150 yards. The bullet offerings of only varmint projectiles limit the capabilities of the cartridge. Many people would use this for hogs, some more for deer and antelope - as it is an excellent cartridge for recoil sensitive people. Yes - there would be unethical people trying to use the cartridge beyond the cartridge's capabilities, but these are the same type of people that already exist that rely on magnums to get the job done instead of dedicated shot placement. Shot placement is most important, followed by bullet construction, followed by energy delivery. We need a better constructed .204 bullet. Peregrine monolithics in South Africa offers one for antelope in .204 and it works well. There are several US states and Canadiam provinces that allow any centerfire cartridge for deer / hog / wolf.

Anyone else notice how over gassed the AR-15 shooting the .338 ARC was?
@John_4393 ай бұрын
Yah because unlike what they said you can't really run supers and subs on the same gas settings no matter what the cartridge. Unless the supers are unsupressed and subs are suppressed but that's a whole different set of problems.

Overgassing is not a big of an issue as people make it out to be. Id rather have my rifle overgassed than undergassed
@kmin34343 ай бұрын
Yes, over gassed will cycle reliably but there's a reason the AR platform has a tune-able gas system. When you're over gassed you get more muzzle rise, more recoil, more wear and tear on the buffer system, more gas in your face from each shot. Lots of cons to being over gassed but at least the rifle will cycle I guess.

@ while true, ive never shot an overgassed rifle where the increased recoil interfered with any follow up shots. Oh and the HK 416, is overgassed from the factory. On purpose.

.338 ARC will be a flop. Ballistics will be terrible and there's no need for it.

I was going to show this video to my wife but I’m afraid Seth’s stash will get her pregnant
@marktroxler6798Ай бұрын
I stopped the video at 5:00 because there's no point in watching any more of it. The claim of cast bullets leaving a cloud of lead dust so thick that you can't see well enough for a follow up shot is such a whopper that all credibility for the rest of the video is lost. If you're going to just make stuff up, at least choose something that isn't obviously false.

idk what you guys in the US think abt using hornady ammo in bolt action rifles however my rifles (im from sweden) beeing tikka t3x, carl gustaf 1900 , sako s20 and ruger american go wild 450bm. hornady ammo simply dosnt work in any of these rifles... the ammo either get stuck going into the chamber or you cant close the bolt properly/hard to open when shot. then there is ur video here on youtube when you compare ur bullets to normas, basicly smack talking norma with 0 respect, (basicly the largest hunting ammo company in EU, working into the US. for these reasons i have 0 trust in hornady.

I've had dangerous results with Superformance for 7mm Rem Mag. Don't recall any other issues, but I don't buy a lot of factory ammo. Threw the remaining Superformance in the trash.
