I never understood the hate for CVT transmission. Had it in my Dodge caliber drove that for almost 300,000 km no problems had it in a rogue for over a hundred thousand kilometers no problems have it in my Murano for over 200,000 km no problems why the hate.

Replacing the CVT with an actual automatic transmission was definitely the right thing to do. Nissan makes the worst CVT's.

first time in 10 years that the Murano finally got a redesign, missed the V6, but the 4 cylinder is not bad, and i don't miss the CVT. because after all Pathfinder ditched the CVT with a 9-speed. so Murano did the same. not bad Nissan.

Pretty much every automaker is doing this (or will be very soon) because they have to, not because they want to. Depending on the automaker, this could be a problem or not much of a problem at all. I wouldn't feel comfortable with this particular example. It would be more effective for us to direct our concerns to our governments.

boost doesn't kick in all the time so it's not constantly stressed. it will give you 100 volumetric efficiency off boost which is why they dropped the engine. same power on the low end and lower emissions and better or same MPG.

Nissan's 0 gravity seats are probably the greatest seats of all time in any vehicle. They are so comfy, you never want to leave the car.

End of a great model. I have had every version of the Murano and run out at least 150K on each with the bulletproof VQ V6 and zero problems (including the CVT which wasn't the grenade used on the Rogue). Great, they got a real transmission now, but wait, why don't we completely destroy any chance of success by amortizing our unproven, unreliable underpowered variable compression turbocharged 4-cylinder into a vehicle that is 285lbs heavier and requires artificial throttle swell and a 1900rpm stall convertor to create the illusion of adequacy. My wife really likes the Murano line but only because the V6 was a proven no-issues power plant that could be counted on for the life of the car, I will skip this model until the V6 is back.

4-cylinder turbo is a mistake. You lose horsepower you lose torque you gain gas mileage but you got to use premium gas so you probably end up spending more in the long run.

The new Murano, while I wouldn’t go so far as to say its been ‘Impulsed’ isn’t nearly as attractive, as graceful as the prior version (in video at any rate. Sometimes a vehicle must be seen in the sheetmetal to be truly appreciated).

Nissan has really aimed for the Acura RDX and Lincoln Nautilus with this new Murano. This means one midsize SUV is no longer enough. So Nissan may need two more. First would be a revived X-Terra aimed for the Ford Everest and Toyota 4Runner. The other would go retro and that retro might very well be inspired by the old Patrol SUV from the 80s and aimed for the Toyota Land Cruiser 250/Prado Mk5.

A good improvement by ditching the CVT. Everything else doesn't look good though. Too much screen, not enough gauges. I hate the steering wheel, and no shifter. Also, the 2 liter i4 turbo isnt a reliable option. All they needed to do is keep the v6 and pair ot with the 8 speed. This vehicle will start at $40,000. Not cheap, and well out of its class range to be considered. The in crowd will buy a few thousand, but these wont sell afterwards unless a large discount is applied to get it down to $30-35k.
