If it was all about NIL money, there are at least 30 schools that have deeper pockets than BYU. BYU has a head coach with NBA connections that are tops in the NCAA. He coached KD, Devin Booker. Chris Paul. That was the clincher

There are very few schools who have an alumni with billionaires that own 2 pro sports teams and is also dedicated to making not only BYU but the state of Utah one of the top sports destinations in the country.
