We have a 2017 Plateau FL (Sprinter chassis) and we love it! We bought used because we wanted a model year with a propane stove. It has more storage under the sofa - we store our tool kit, leveling blocks, barbecue, water hose and electrical cord there. Our sink is smaller though.

These also have both a generator and 600 ahr of lithium, rare to get both. Could be a con for some, since you have to maintain the generator, but if you boondock a lot, you don’t have to idle your engine to charge your battery. The 2.2 gives so much extra room and storage, but if you want it to be a daily driver, the 20 foot 2.0 seems to be very nimble, yet still a very large bed.
@halffasttravelers270229 күн бұрын
You make some great observations, and thanks for pointing out the generator. We had a generator in our Patriot Class B Van, but we only used it rarely. However, if we had done more primitive or dispersed camping on our trip out west, we would have probably used it more often.
@michaelburt194629 күн бұрын
You may be losing the storage above the seats, but you’re gaining airbags. Those little gray plugs above the door are airbag sensors that release a curtain type airbag next to the passenger and driver.

That’s a great point about the airbags, thanks for letting us know.

We have a 2023 Winnebago Navion 24J that we love and just purchased a Pleasure Way Ascent as an additional vehicle. It is on the MB chassis and it drives really nice. The quality of the Pleasure Way is very evident when you shop around and compare. The quality of the Thor vans and RV's is horrible. The other van we looked at was the Winnebago Travato, What I love about the Ascent is I can park it in a regular parking space and also I can use the rear view mirror and see out where I couldn't in the Travato. The Ascent drives much better in my opinion than the Ram or Ford. I felt the extra width of the Ram chassis when driving the Travato (I felt like I was driving a plumbers van vs a luxury van) and the seats were not comfortable to me.
@halffasttravelers270229 күн бұрын
We like the Navion, but we just don't care for the corner bed. We need a bit more space. Jimmy Legs and all... We are also big fans of the Mercedes for all the reasons you mentioned and more. The Ascent is a beautiful Class B. It sounds like you have a ton of RVing options, and we hope you enjoy them both. Happy Travels!

@@halffasttravelers2702 The corner bed isn't for everyone, for us we like it because when one of us drives the other one can lay down with our dogs and watch a movie while traveling. We thought we wanted the 24D model but we wanted a bed that could be used while traveling and it has been great for us. Thanks and Happy Travels to you as well!

Thank you for these very nice walk throughs. When was this RV show? How can we find out what shows are upcoming in the west palm area or florida in general? We’ve been on the hunt for a class b. Thanks!

You are very welcome. This show was at the end of September. We use a few websites to find shows, but if you do a search for south Florida RV shows you should get a complete list. The next show in West Palm is the FRVTA Fall RV Show at the South Florida Fairgrounds from November 14-17, 2024. Maybe we will see you there.

Wow, I still find these vans ridiculously priced. That hasn't changed lol. Yeah love bright interiors. Very nice looking vans.....but i like Europes better, better bathrooms, better utilization of space for multi-use. Man NA vans are just so stuck in a time warp. 🍻
@TimothyBH123Ай бұрын
Watching the Europe RV Shows does paint a stark contrast compared to the US market, making it very dated and not as innovative. Then again, maybe market just has different needs between regions. With Pleasure-Way, at times it can seem to clean and boring, but the trade-off is build quality. Many other brands charge just as much, but don't take the same time and effort to ensure it lasts for those prices. I wonder if service, repairs, reliability, is also better in Europe.
@halffasttravelers270229 күн бұрын
@SpykersB We hear you! We hope the US market starts to move in that direction! TimothyBH123 makes some good points too. We are big fans of the Pleasure Way design and quality, but are less enthusiastic about the price.

IMO, the Ford Transit is a better chassis for a Class B and its EcoBoost engine has more power for moving heavy Class Bs up hills and such. The ProMaster is fine, but it's N-A (Naturally-Aspirated) V6 gas Pentastar engine struggles doing that -- but Pentastars are fine in smaller/lighter vehicles (like my Jeep Gladiator and RAM vehicles). Also, you can get a Transit in AWD (even if it doesn't have a lift which would be nice)...TMK, the ProMaster doesn't offer an AWD version. I don't include the MB/Sprinter as I'd never get one of those, and nothing diesel, either. So MB isn't even on my Short List. As for Pleasure-Way, it's also one of my top-choices due to their quality AND warranty. Just sad they quietly (and suddenly) discontinued their "limited amenities" Tofino campervan (reminds me of the old 1960s/70s VW campervans) as it would have suited me better than a "full amenity" Class B. Whatever, were I looking at Class Bs -- or any RV class -- I'd first check Canadian brands. For examples, Leisure Travel Vans and VR Panoramic are 2 other Canadian RV makers worth checking for ClassB/B+ vans. BTW, they likely put carpet on the shower floor to keep your shoes (and other probably very MANY visitors' shoes during its lengthy time there at the RV show) from scratching it! Just Common Sense? ;-) -- BR
@halffasttravelers270229 күн бұрын
We appreciate the feedback and we agree that the Ford Transit is a great chassis. Good point about the carpet, we were under the impression that it was added by the manufacturer, but if the dealer is using them to show the models then that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing out the Pleasure Way Warranty, we missed that one.
@billredding200028 күн бұрын
@@halffasttravelers2702 Well, even if it were P-W putting in the carpet -- in case owners were wearing shoes while using the bathroom -- they can always remove it before showering. ;-) But now that you bring it up, in the winter and the bathroom floor is cold (IF it's cold, but maybe not due to floor insulation?), then a piece of carpet there also makes sense if you're in bare feet (I usually am @ home as I take my shoes/socks off as soon as I'm inside). Whatever, it's no big deal. Yes, P-W has one the the best warranties in the RV industry. Maybe other Canadian RV makers (Leisure Travel Vans, VR Panoramic, Bigfoot, etc.) have decent warranties, too, but I'm not sure. IIRC though, the P-W warranty was a tad longer some years ago but it's still better now than most of the America Crap-Makers. And, I think P-W has better Customer Care after the sale as well -- try to get that from said American Crap-Makers! Or their also-useless RV Dealerships, as the two of them seems to be always passing the buck at the RV owner's expense when warranty issues come up. BTW, for ME the RV itself (overall quality, materials used/fit & finish/workmanship) is only 50% of my Buying Decision, the other 50% is the warranty and Customer Care after the sale. I try to go with only the brands that have BOTH. Happy Travels, -- BR

@@halffasttravelers2702 RE: cold floors, I partly mentioned that because I'd be using my Pleasure Way (and still barefoot when in it) mainly in Colorado, including during Winters...even if it only gets a tad colder there than Florida. For that same money, you can find a custom builder and add exactly what you need and nothing else. These production RV's are all made with particle board and lesser quality appliances. Weird place to install the control panel too. I once heard someone joke about the fact that RV's layouts must be designed by men because they seem to be thrown together with no clue. A shame Toyota and Honda don't make full size vans, they would put everyone else out of business.
@halffasttravelers270229 күн бұрын
You've got a point! A custom build can be a really smart choice. The trick is finding the right builder. We wish we had the skills to build our own, because that is something we would have definitely loved to have a lash at. We once saw a video where a You Tuber purchased a Japanese RV from many years ago. It was a very clever design with some great features. We would love to see what Toyota or Honda could produce. Thanks for the post.
@michaelburt194628 күн бұрын
@@JD-xo3xz you’re talking about some vans that are made by companies that make RVs as well as vans. There’s not a single piece of particleboard in a pleasure way. As far as the appliances are concerned, truma is the number one rated appliance for RVs. Your heater, air conditioning and water heater are all truma products. Truma is a German company that has been making appliances for vans for several years now. They’ve just entered the US market within the last 10 or 15 years. As far as the control panel is installed I don’t think he really got a picture of that. There are two control panels that do the same thing one near the bed and one near the front door. Where else would you like a control panel to be put? In addition, the control panel controls every thing in the van. Lights, air-conditioning, heat, hot water, and power resources, are all controlled from one control panel.
@halffasttravelers270228 күн бұрын
Thanks for posting this additional information. The rear control panel in our Patriot was down at bed and sofa level, but it wasn't a full screen like the one in the Pleasure Way. It was customizable though. The placement in these units seems like it would have worked for us. Thanks for the post.

Hey, The Ford Transit Vans are junk and what tbey don't tell you is they charge more for servicing them as any little repair means taking most of the front of the van off. The vans lately are made very poorly. CARS are very pricey and most won't last till 60k miles
@TimothyBH123Ай бұрын
Hmm, but then people will say the newer 4 cylinder bi-turbo engines in the Sprinters push it too hard and might not last as long as the older engines, then all the emission stuff that can go wrong. The Pleasure Way at least provides a 5 year extended warranty on the Sprinters now. But is the Ford that bad in comparison for overall total ownership costs? 60k seems to be low for reliability, if true, not great when you want the coach side to remain relevant for longer.
