something that gives Roger Craig Smith some actually good voice acting like X Gens and Frontiers have (because that poor fella has just gotten the ass end of the stick from the franchise for a long time. I know you ain't like my man Roger, my man, but I think we can agree to disagree that his voice acting was actually nice in Frontiers where Sonic was finally done correctly again for the first time since like the original Generations game). (side note, when it comes to older Sonic VAs I always prefer Jason Griffith over Ryan Drummond probably because Griffith just always does Sonic justice somehow - case in point, Black Knight. Griffith typically has just done better at expressing the character and emotions of our favorite blue rodent - again, especially in the storybook games. Actually, can we see remasters of those with Griffith as Sonic again and finally get the third one? Maybe a "Sonic and the Seven Seas"?)

The highs of both decades are about the same kind of qualit (I still prefer Shadow Generations and Sonic Frontiers but Icl), but the lows are much lower in 2010s and there was a huge drought between Generations and Forces.

I’m pretty sure the vast majority of reactions when seeing Shadow’s car initially in the teaser was just utter disappointment. Like you would think they’d learn from TSR and how it was functionally flawed and had little to no online players after a year. The original Riders formula that they’ve created was the best thing they’ve done and them abandoning it will make them regret it :/ Edit: Yes, I get that the All Stars Racing games had better reception objectively. I will admit that Riders failed to give a proper tutorial for beginners to truly enjoy the game. That does not mean you market and feature one of the most popular spinoff characters in other games such as the Olympics, Sonic Rumble, and even in the comics throughout the years. It’s an insult to the true fans.

Sonic Riders was definitly unique as a racing game. However back then the first one got nice attention from fans but critics were not happy. That resulted in the sequel that critics didn't either so I'd guess that's why Sega abandoned it.

11:27 I've always said they should do this with the games as well. Take a character and essentially spin them off into their own franchise that's popular enough to stand on its own. A great example is Persona, which started off as basically a spinoff of Shin Megami Tensei, but has since evolved into its own thing. They could easily do a spinoff franchise with Silver, seeing as he's from the future which gives the perfect opportunity to introduce a whole new world and cast of characters that differ from traditional Sonic.

Prem made a really good video about a possible but not likely Sonic 06 remake. Talking about how it's a huge grey area where you cannot discuss the game properly with others as well. I personally don't want there to be one because the Sonic series has been running on nostalgia for over 13 years now. Sega and Sonic Team are finally in the position to move forward with the series due to the new cash flow from the movies, Frontiers, and SxSG to make a high quality game. I really like 06 btw. I used to want a remaster. Until I realized if one did happen it would not be faithful to the concepts of the original, use the boost formula, current voice cast, and have an entirely different story. It would be 06 in name only. Why not just spend those resources on the new game at that point?

On top of that the discussion around the game is ruined. The amount of people who don't care about 06 overwhelmingly outnumber the small group that do. Plus the only identity the game has now is as a meme due to KZbinrs capitalizing on the easy content of making fun of an unfinished product. Particularly the fandubs. I think the fandubs are hilarious. However they are the most popular content based on 06. As a result the only identity people have of the game comes from them. Take how Mephiles was portrayed in SxSG for example. 06 purists were not happy with how desperate he was written because that's not like his character in the original. On top of Dan Green not returning which gave Mephiles his character but what can you do about that. People who critiqued Mephiles were labeled are haters of the voice actor due to him being a popular anime voice actor. As the majority call him Memphis Tennessee or quote the tilted towers joke. It's a mess that is a losing game for anyone who wants a proper remake.

Just want to talk about Frontiers 2 for a minute. We could have one of or the best Sonic game being cooked right now, well at least in my opinion. Here's why: 1. Ian Flynn is a pretty goated writer, he did well in Shadow Generations, there was a lot of references in Frontiers but it worked decently, and we don't need to talk about Gens Remaster. So Frontiers 2 might have a goated story. 2. If Sega/Sonic Team make the level design of Cyberspace or whatever the stages in Frontiers 2 will be UNIQUE and not rehashed, make it pretty lengthy and with multiple different paths and using the environment similar to Shadow Generations and The Final Horizon Cyberspace, you're getting good level design. 3. If they really do make games run at 4K 60fps and not ruin it because of the switch, we could arguably have the most beautiful looking Sonic game ever. 4. I think the music in Frontiers is good, including the EDM in Cyberspace, I'm sorry but I just do, but if they make it more rock music similar to how Shadow Generations did the soundtrack in the game. Then the music will also be pretty good too. SEGA, PLEASE ADD CRUSH 40!!! 5. Finally, in Frontiers, we know that we get to play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy. Maybe we could have the same thing in Frontiers 2 but maybe add Shadow in the game. And to make it better MAYBE have each character have their own Cyberspace to match their gameplay and style. And again similar to my second point, you'll have good level design and each character can feel like they have a purpose to be in the game. If Sega/Sonic Team does exactly what I say here, then this will be MY FAVOURITE Sonic game of all game. P.S - Just for you Prem, if they add MOMENTUM to slopes and rails then that'd be goated 🙏🏻

8:19 - I wonder if that Sonic Sports game is going to revisit the concept of Sonic Sports, a game that was planned for the Sega 32x, but was cancelled due to the console's commercial failure. Sonic Sports would have been similar to Tiny Toon Adventures: ACME All-Stars for the Sega Genesis, having such sporting events as Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Sonic, Tails, and Ristar the Shooting Star were also planned to be playable characters. I've been trying to get Sega to revisit that concept, and it appears that my wish may very well have been granted.

Shadow Generations and Sonic Movie 3 both being B-tier is absolutely absurd! They both definitely exceeded everyones expectations by a lot! Sonic Generations remaster being a C is definitely crazy because its literally just the original Sonic Generations with a few minor changes but otherwise plays almost identical to the original! In regards to the remaster comment, I think that’s why it gets a C. Not a whole lot was really done, it looks the same, none of Gens’ problems were actually fixed, the rewrite and redub were virtually pointless and the gameplay additions were superficial and didn’t improve the experience at all really. A C is fair, it was a very bare minimum attempt, obviously all the time and budget went to Shadow Gens

Jeeeeez, watching casuals play early 3D Sonic is the most painful shit ever lol. Its why I'm really not looking forward to this Heroes remake man. A part of me almost hopes that its been a Heroes seqeul lowkey all along. Just so that I don't have to do the inevitable very controversial comparisons. Really, my expectations are still low for Sonic in the next 5 years, cause I feel like we've basically been in purgatory. I’d wait until November 2026 for the Sonic Heroes remake to have it coincide with Sonic 4 in 2027, and I’d call it Metal X Sonic Heroes and introduce a new Team Metal, featuring Metal Sonic, Tails Doll and Metal Knuckles and the end of their story is actually an alternate ending where Metal Overlord actually defeats Team Sonic 3. I’d also drop the Chaotix TV Show in mid 2026 to build up hype for Metal X Sonic Heroes

I think that the sonic heroes remake wil be some kind of soft reboot time setting and the characters wil have there modern character arcs in the remake. Also i think why sonic team wants to remake this game is because it’s haves the most characters In one game so it’s easy for the fans who want to understand the lore. Something the what can happen is that the remake is gonna be very different then the original version because ilkuzka had a very different vision but he had to rush the game.

That rail balancing clip is the type of gameplay you’d see from a KZbinr during the 2010s, u have to refuse to interact with the game for something like that to happen, the game is pretty much screaming at them to hold the B button If ppl can’t even hold B to crouch then all the ppl asking Kishimoto for proper momentum/rolling physics with non automated loops and rails in a Frontiers 2 are cooked

I just don't understand why Sega thinks All Stars Racing and Riders can't coexist. Riders is better for Sonic-only, and All Stars is more appealing for the crossover aspect. They're unique from each other, and if there's one character that can afford to be in more than 1 Racing franchise, it's SONIC. I'm fine with Crossworlds, but it's just such an inferior option.

Sonic Rumble does have a full release date according to Apple Pre-Order set on February 28, 2024. I don’t think SEGA would release iOS, Android, and Steam Versions at different dates.

I love sonic hero’s it’s a super nostalgic game for me. But i think they should remake a more popular game first like sonic unleashed or sonic rush. That would be a best seller. I think colours ultimate could even have a second life if they wanted to remake that again. It’s the goat. Picture that sonic colours ultimate DX directors cut.
