Thanks for the introduction to the New York bike culture. We have a similar event in Berlin-Germany since 1977. Free and without registration. Tenth of thousends cyclists and the city is carfree for one day. This year on the first of June 2025. There is a party in the streets and you are invited! #sternfahrt

Ok, I'm really interested in Eban's drivetrain 👀 looks like it's a single speed freewheel in the back, but two chainrings in the front with a derailleur/tensioner to take up the slack. Very interesting; I like the simplicity. Such a beautiful bike!

That's what it is - Rivendell Roaduno set up 2x1 or 3x1 with an old Shimano derailer. The frame actually has horizontal track ends and a derailer mount. He's got details about the build on his blog

@@andrewr9937 That's so cool! I'll have to go search that out on his blog; thanks!

Good to see the 3x1 Riv.

Nice! As far as I can see he is rding big chainring and big cog. The rear deraillier is streched out very far :) A single chainring (narrow-wide) would be smoother and better.

Cape Town has something very similar worth checking out Cape Town Cycle Tour, registrations end 27th Jan ;)

Just out of curiosity - what % of TD 5 Boro Bike Tour participants are local (i.e. live in one of the boroughs or just outside) vs travel to NY for the tour?
@TerryB14 күн бұрын
I did a quick internet search: The TD Five Boro Bike Tour attracts cyclists from "every state in the nation and dozens of countries around the world," indicating a significant international and national draw to the event. The event is described as one of the largest charitable bike rides in the world, with over 32,000 participants, suggesting a mix of both local and non-local riders.

Most of this is recorded on and off the bike using DJI Mic 2's. They're pretty good at isolating.

One day not to ride in nyc if you normally do
@FullSenderson14 күн бұрын
Don’t be a hater. Promoting cycling is always a good thing. If 1% of the people involved incorporate more cycling into their life, that’s fewer cars on the road, fewer people cramming onto the subway.
@slon91114 күн бұрын
@ I agree its good to get more people on bikes who normally dont ride
