This was my fuel mileage after my first week of ownership doing RideShare... I was really busy this weekend and it was still cool out. So I stayed moving and didn't do a lot of idling.

Appreciate the support... I'm sure I could always just do a 2 minute video, but sometimes that seems rushed when I watch a video that I'm trying to learn from. If I was changing a setting on the dash that only needed 1-2 minutes to go through, by all means I'll keep it simple. It really just depends on what kind of video I'm making.

45.7 mpg on 2020 camry xle hybrid from day 1 to now at 25k miles. Never reset the mpg's. It changed from 45.6 to 45.7 about 6 months ago. Always use eco mode, there is a noticeable decrease in power going from normal to eco mode. It's a 50/50 mixture of city/highway driving. Tampa FL area.

As far as the ECO mode, I keep it in ECO mode. In the city trying to keep it in hybrid mode, it's easiest in ECO mode, because the pedal is stiffer. My plan is after these next couple of weeks, to change to normal mode and try it that way too. Because I've seen a lot of people claim the 8th gens did better in Normal mode.

Hi, a silly question but i got my 2025 camry 2025 SE hybrid and got upgraded to the 12.3 inch dash. Where or how do i see the total mileage in mpg from day 1. I have trip a and trip b but they show only miles and average miles/h. not the mpg. can't see any settings / buttons for that.

@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS 8 күн бұрын
I'm unsure what you're asking for... So are you trying to find the fuel mileage for the entire time you've owned the car? The only way I can think to do that is if you knew how much gas you've bought and the miles on the car and calculate it. Or are you talking about just seeing the display for the fuel mileage like mine shows on the left side?
@tensixliving
@tensixliving 27 күн бұрын
Rolling resistance yes. But also smaller rim.
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS 22 күн бұрын
Correct... The size of the rim does effect fuel economy at highway speeds. The air traveling through the wheel itself causes resistance and needs more energy to keep moving forward. So larger wheels cost fuel vs smaller wheels. On the other side of that, wheel/tire weight effects fuel economy in stop/go situations. The less they weigh, the easier it is to get the car going forward. So even a larger lighter wheel can have better fuel economy in the city.
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS 22 күн бұрын
Also, just went to look what size tire is on the LE... They also have a 205 tire vs the 235s on all of the other trims. So, it may behoove me to try and get a slimmer profile tire on it as well. This may be harder to do in an 18 if I can't find narrower wheels. I'll definitely be researching up until that point though.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but you are one of the very few owners of the new Camry doing real owner reviews of the car, people like me looking to buy. The rest are “dealership” reviews, which are oftentimes not based on long term actual usage of the vehicle. I don’t know if you have one already. Can you do a video on the things you don’t like about the car, and things you wished you new before your purchase?

It's the wheels/tires on the LE that gives it the better mileage. Rolling resistance and wheel/tire weight makes all the difference with a hybrid. The easier the tires roll and the less inertia it takes to propel the tires (weight) will effect the amount of time the car can spend in electric mode. It's that simple. I own a 2018 Camry LE Hybrid and tires make all the difference in the world. If you want a XLE to get the same mileage as a LE simply swap out the wheels/tires and you're there.

@@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS The original Firestones wore out at 45k. I was averaging 48 mpg with Interstate driving at 70 mph average speed and 56 mpg whenever I would spend the day on 55 mph highways. Then I replaced the tires with a set of Michelin CrossClimate 2's and my mileage instantly dropped to 40 mpg on the Interstate, and 50 mpg on 55 mph highways. The Michelins have a more aggressive tread and weigh 4 lbs. more each. Now that the Michelins are down to 6//10th's tread, my mileage has improved to 46 mpg Interstate and 55 mpg Highways. When the Michelins finally wear out I plan on getting a set of Bridgestone WeatherPeaks (I like All Weather Tires for their safety) and a set of lighter 16" alloy wheels. The WeatherPeaks are 3 lbs. a tire lighter than the CrossClimate 2's, and the 16" alloys are 7 lbs. lighter than the 16" steelies the 2018 Camry came with, for a total savings of 10 lbs. each wheel. I expect my fuel economy will return back to what it was despite the tires still being All Weather due to the 10 lb. weight savings per wheel.

@@escheidl man, that's good to know. I've asked this question in groups and to dealers, and you would think I was speaking French. Lol. They all try to say it's the weight of the extra options. 1. If that's the case, all trims would have different fuel economies as every trim package gets heavier. 2. If that were true, you'd also take a big hit on fuel economy every time you had a car full of passengers. I'm glad to see you've got factual data and understand the angle I've tried to research but couldn't find factual data to backup. Now I know. Unfortunately, the wheels on this car look really good. So I honestly have no reason to change these heavy bastards....lol. But maybe, once I get my second set of tires, I'll try something different and have better results.

@@zandervaraksa963 you'll learn the best way to drive it... The fuel economy meter shows average(green)and current(white)... You want current to be to the right of the average. @TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS Ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I know the RAV4 has the same drivetrain as the Camry... So they should get similar with the Camry being better because of Aerodynamics. I also don't think the fuel mileage gauge in this car is recording from the moment you reset it until you reset it again. It varies entirely too much for that to be the case. I do believe most vehicles work that way, but this one keeps changing even after a couple of tanks of gas... More like it's based off of the last hundred miles. No way to prove that now, but eventually with time I'll just let it go for a month and with 8000 miles on it, see if it's still varying just as much.

the difference in fuel used going from 40 to 50 mpg is negligable. 15000 miles a year at 40 mpg your using 375 gallons, at 50 mpg it is 300 a savings of 75 gallons. Lets assume gas is $3.50, only a $262.50 savings over an entire year or just under $22 a month. If you drive less than 15k the savings are even less. I wouldn't worry too much about increasing MPG when your up above 40.
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS
@TEAMWRIGHTEOUS Ай бұрын
You're correct in your math, but I drive about 6 times that in a year. So at minimum it's about $100/month in fuel savings I'm giving up. That's my car insurance payment right there. But, it is very true... I used to drive an 18 wheeler where a half mpg mad a world of difference from 6.5 to 7.0 At 700 miles a day, you're looking at a difference of $30-40/day. So yeah, my 0.5 mpg difference is negligible even in my extreme mileage case. But another 10 mpg would be HUGE for me as my expenses rise enough for it to matter. Thanks for making this point though.... I'll be sure to include it in a future video.

The wheels are definitely smaller, which means they're likely lighter as well. Then on top of that, larger wheels tend to effect fuel mileage more on the highway even, because they let air flow in between and it gets dirty air. That's where wheel covers would help. They're ugly and not going on my car, but I wouldn't be against a wheel backing plate to keep the dirty air from going through the wheel. Maybe it could help.
