So true, this is what is one of the most annoying thing about Camry, everyone talks about the base prices of these cars in the reviews, but you will almost never find a camry that does not have pre-installed packages which makes these camry's more expensive then the competition, it is a tricky move.

@@leonardyoung6821 I don't think that is an easy (if possible) option in the US.
@leonardyoung68215 ай бұрын
@yuanke8779 , if your dealer wants the business badly enough and you are patient enough, they will work with you in reducing the accessories. You are right that it's difficult to get a true sold order that is 100% the way you build it online. Some accessories are "hard adds" and cannot be removed. But a motivated dealer has at least some flexibility to remove a portion of the accessories before the vehicle is produced. They don't want to do this, because without accessories there is relatively little dealer mark-up in the car. Profit on certain accessories can be double or triple the rate of profit on the car itself. Selling a base car is the same to the dealer as discounting the car $500 or $1000. If the car you want has more accessories than you want, and you don't want to wait for one with fewer options, ask the dealer to go 50-50 on those accessories you do not value. They will more than likely do that as opposed to waiting weeks or months for a sale.

My family loves Toyota Camry. I’m a Honda civic person. When the car gets to 135,000 we just get the new version of our cars. I’m on my 4th civic. With my civic full paid off it still cost me about $7000 each yrs to maintain it $3k gas, 1k insurance, 3k registration & maintenance. I buy all that stuff to treat the tires, leather seats, anti fog spray….

I would consider buying the base LE model. That would be all I would need. What bothers me is Toyota has made it a little difficult to change the transmission fluid in their vehicles. Changing the transmission fluid in my 12' Altima is a piece of cake. My car also has a dipstick where you can check the transmission fluid level.
@tails3006 ай бұрын
It’s not difficult to change the fluid in an eCVT. It’s a drain and fill process like a differential and doesn’t need to be done till about 100k.

pretty cool breakdown. It would be great to have a list of all the expenses together to show how you got the total number. My old used car is costing me about $585/month following your examples but applied to my car. I wonder if any "new" car comes close. Also how much would it cost one the car is paid off and on its way to end of life. lets say at 13-14 years or 200-210k miles. So lifetime owner ship of the car would be a bit lower.

In Australia, where the Camry is imported from Japan, we have limited add-on options, but the four trims come with more standard features compared to the US models. For example, the SL trim, which combines the best features of the XSE and XLE, is packed with standard features but offers fewer color choices and no two-tone option. No AWD at all. Instead of the XLE, we have the SX, a sports-tuned model with fewer features than the SL. Following that is the Ascent Sport, which corresponds to the SE but includes more standard features than the US-built SE. The base model, Ascent, is equivalent to the LE and also comes with more standard features. Prices here are generally fixed and advertised as Drive Away Price, meaning what you see is what you pay. Overall, Australian Camry models are about 15% cheaper than their US counterparts.
