When did wagon become a bad word in cars? I have had a station wagon for years and it is a god sent. I can haul so much stuff and people, it is fun to drive. The whole shaming of cars is why we are paying top dollar for oversized non practical cars.

I agree. Companies push SUVs over wagons and hatchbacks in USA because SUVs are classified as light trucks and have easier regulations, especially for fuel economy.

They don’t. Automakers don’t want to make wagons because CAFE emissions requirements are more lax for crossovers. Wagon guy here. I use a lightweight wheelchair and take it apart placing it on the passenger seat. The wagon is perfect in that it is easier to transfer in and the cargo space holds the wheelchair w/o taking it apart. I owned a MBZ 1990 E300 wagon for about 8-9 years before the maintenance was killing me then traded it in for a 2006 Volvo V70R (new). I recently added a 2021 MBZ All Terrain wagon which is a tad lower than the SUVs. It works but I wish it was a few inches lower. A used AMG e63 wagon would work but as most know a 2021 comes in at around $90-100K. I am hoping the Crown wagon works since it may be a car to own. I hope the wheelchair fits in the boot with the back seats remaining up. We will see.

This has actually become not just a Crown that I actually like but one of my favorite SUVs ever. Look, I want my cars to be nice enough, and this is nice enough :), with lots of space and practicality while being a hybrid so you get decent MPGs and it's comfortable, plus, it should be reliable because it's a Toyota. So personally, I don't need my cars to be nicer than this if that means massive price and weight hikes, plus, most premium SUVs tend to have harsher suspension because they like to pretend they are sporty but that doesn't speak to me, if I want a sports car I would just buy a sports car :) So yeah! This is pretty much perfect for what I would want in an SUV so I LOVE it (Despite the CUV sound 💀)

Yes, station wagons are back! I like that it is less boxy, much lower (though I did like being up high for visibility) and this really should have car like dynamics since it is a car in wagon form). It's time to stop pretending that we're "active" people, we are not, we go shopping and haul the offspring to their games and practices. The Venza that this is replacing went up $5K in the last 3 years without any upgrades and this is another $5K or more than the Venza so Toyota can maintain their position as the most profitable car maker in the world and it's less efficient on top of that. All that said, STATION WAGONS are back baby, finally getting what we actually need rather than the pretentious "tough off roaders" that we NEVER actually used. The few that do will buy the 4 runner.

Something that always drives me crazy about Toyota is they never provide a combined torque figure for their three motor hybrids. I’m not sure if there just isn’t a great way to do it with the way their hybrids work, but given the performance I would just assume it’s competitive with the competition. It’s likely this has about as much torque as a Santa Fe hybrid, Sorento hybrid, etc

It would be nice if Toyota made the Signia actually look like a wagon instead of guessing if it's a CUV/wagon. I'm not sure about sales if the made a CUV or wagon. Their lineup of crossovers is expansive: Corolla Cross, bZ4x, RAV4, Signia, 4Runner, Venza, Land Cruiser, Highlander, Grand Highlander, and Sequoia. Toyota has sedans, hatchback, crossovers, minivan, trucks, and sports cars. Having a wagon could help not only diversify their crossover-heavy lineup but have different, yet practical body style for those who are tired of seeing crossovers/SUV's.

Insignia (the plural of Latin insigne: emblem, symbol) is a symbol or token of personal power, status or office, or of an official body of government or jurisdiction. Insignia are especially used as an emblem of a specific or general authority. Typical examples of insignia are: Crowns.
