I’d rather go for a Lexus NX that has a lower starting price than this, or get the RX that starts just above the top end price of the crown signia. I’m left kind of confused about who the target audience is for this vehicle. It’s too expensive for what it is…a Toyota station wagon. Also, haven’t they tried the station wagon like crossover approach with the first gen Venza? That didn’t work out too well from what I remember. At least the exterior is attractive (at least in my eyes).

So it got me thinking why they are discontinuing the Venza. Maybe the segment was too crowded style wise with the Ford Escape, Edge, Chevy Equinox, up coming Kia EV3 and WAY kut of it's range the Jaguar F-pace etc thus they decided to build something different. A station wagon. It's apparent Lexus keeps cannibalizing ALL of Toyota vehicles and makes rhem more premium leaving little for Toyota aside from two Suv's. The Rav4 and Highlander. That's it. While Lexus has every option available in Toyotas inventory. I feel Toyota frustration with coming up with something that doesn't infringe on Lexus NX to it's RX sales. I wish they would have kept the Venza in it's line up as empty nesters don't want a Rav4 but need a somewhat luxurious small suv that isn't in Lexus pricing. The Venza hit the spot. The Crown will be too big for 50 or so retired people. Having said that they should put a V6 hybrid in it to give it a little more American muscle. Then that would be a yuppie hauler coming full circle for us 50+ crowd growing up with station wagons with beastly v8's that could haul a nice trailer. The 4 cylinder hybrid works in a Venza not sure about the Crown signa. Love to hear your thoughts on this. Just my two cents. Cheers.

Mason and Drew do a great job on these auto reviews.. The Signia is nice, but it still has a major problem of having a very low roofline - just like the Venza and RAV4. Drew and Mason are both roughly 5' 8"-ish, and it looks like they both barely fit inside, but with very little headroom to spare. It would be hard to recommend the Signia to anyone over about 5' 8".. Not sure why Toyota can't come out with a SUV with a taller roof that has good outward visibility and comfort. This Crown Signia is really just a wagon or hatchback.. It has a very low roofline, and like the Venza with its lower roof - this low roof results in poor outward in all directions. Not good for safe driving or driving enjoyment.. and a lower roofline gives this Crown a low caved in feeling, and cramped interior (same problem that the Venza had). It would be a really nice if they would have made it an SUV by raising the roof about 3" to 4" inches.. That would improve outward visibility, driving enjoyment, and make the cabin much more comfortable and airy. Maybe Toyota can finally correct this problem by adding a Toyota Signia SUV with a 3" to 4" higher roof. That would be a great SUV.

Taller than than 5' 8" you run into problems of headroom and with poor outward visiblility in all directions. Bad visibility means bad safety when driving.. Be so nice of Toyota would have simply raised that roof about 3 or 4 inches on the Crown.. That would help with cabin room, headroom and much better outward visibility.. and making the Crown a much better all around vehicle..
