VW quality at its best

Vehicle Quality has entered a death spiral, we had a Ford Maverick in our shop w/ < 2000mi on it w/ a rear wheel bearing issue - customer heard grinding / clicking noise. Bearing practically fell apart while we were working on it.

It’s not like manufacturers can’t build reliable, long lasting and repairable vehicles but that’s not what the bankers, corporations, politicians and NGO’s have in store for us plebs……… goal number 1 is extracting every last penny from our pockets, goal 2 is absolute 24/7 surveillance and control over every living creature

Had a 2016 Jetta with a 1.8 turbo bought used at like 60,000 miles. Engine had a leaky main seal at 80 had to add a quart of oil each week. Front struts went bad too replaced them at 80. Limited aftermarket struts weren’t a much better ride than the broken OEM. I replaced the upper and lower transmission mounts my self when I heard clanks during shifts. The ones look like hockey pucks. Got an aluminum and dense rubber one. Could feel the engine vibration made it way funner to drive. Oh, and low profile tires suck too. One potholeand bubbled sidewall. Never again. Got a 2019 3.5 ecoboost. Change the oil and filter every 5000 myself. Got 54000 on her. Thinking about doing a transmission and differential service myself next.

@paulherbert5548 companies like TRW , Hella, etc make parts all over as well. TRW in particular makes a bunch of VW brake components in the US for the cars made in Tennessee & Mexico

Will never buy another Volkswagen Touareg. I purchased a used one for $3,800, everything worked as it should at the time. The transmission at 155k failed so I went to Aamco Transmissions, said they can replace it with a used transmission for $6,300 😮, mostly labor fees. I'm not getting caught up in that circle
@dentalnovemberАй бұрын
Your first problem was going to AAmco for a transmission. I had some transmission lines replaced there and they failed twenty miles away. Wouldn’t warranty their work. Winchester Virginia. Should have took them to small claims court.
@caseyfreeman3994Ай бұрын
@dentalnovember who do you suggest I take it to? Nobody else around here will touch it. I'm in middle Georgia
@dentalnovemberАй бұрын
If nobody will touch it you need to get outside of where you are at because AAmco is a corporate scam. Maybe you lucked out and did the best you can but I have had dealings with them at multiple locations for thirty years and it was never a positive outcome. Find a mechanic that a reputable source recommended.
@caseyfreeman3994Ай бұрын
@dentalnovember that is the average price for the swap on my ride but I'm not paying it no matter how well the job is done, not worth it considering the going value of the ride itself. It's a 2006 Touareg V8

European cars are wonderful, but over the last several years, they've become very expensive and price on their parts is far more than their Japanese competitors. I see this on a weekly basis in our shop. VW is loosing its market share on cars to Japanese and Chinese vehicles. Too many customer being priced out of the market.

Something seems odd about this. The car would have to be driven off the transporter upon arrival to the dealership. A problem would have been immediately known. Was someone having fun and games with the car? Salesmen and lot boys are nothing but overgrown children at times.

Youd have to do some serious driving in 20 miles to break a vehicle, I’d argue nearly impossible to do on a brand new vehicle… this is 100% manufacturers issue
@cycleguy666Ай бұрын
At 20 miles it may have been built and never filled with oil!! Internally probably destroyed!! VW may look back to Prep sheets to see if final drive oils are or are not checked...... .may be adding cautions to new car prep work!!

Years ago my father bought a new Chevrolet. The car had a hard time idling so he took it back to the dealership in Homewood and had the mechanics look at it. Nothing wrong with it sir replied the chief mechanic. Father was frustrated so I decided to look at it. Discovered vacuum hoses not terminated so I plugged them back in. Problem solved. Car ran great from that time on. The assembler was probably taking a coffee break when the car came down the assembly line.
