I am a current owner of a VW Jetta and I think your comments about the handling are incorrect. Jettas are wonderful cars. They handle just beautifully!

Maybe he needs to try and catch my 2017 GLI around a declining radius turn like other cars do and fail. Maybe then he will see what the handling is like. One thing is the tires, place an Ultra High Performance all season or Max performance summer tire on it and the ride stiffens up a bit.

Current owner of a 2014 Jetta but have had a lot of seat time in the current gen. I think you’re right in the fact that the MK7 loses some of the German feel it had in previous generations, but IMO the value for money in other categories make it worth it. So many safety features, and an all out SEL is under 30k with full leather, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, all the bells and whistles. The power is so much better than the numbers suggest and IMO feels faster than my 1.8T, while basically getting 50% better mileage. I’ll be trading up for a 2025 this year.

They changed the front end to what it should have been when this generation was first released. I was never a fan of the oversized grill.

I was faithful to the BMW 3 series for 15 years, but switched to the 2024 Jetta and I am happy. The Jetta actually drives very similar to a 2010 era BMW 3 series, and that was my favorite 3 series car. The Jetta is not a luxury car, but it gets the job done with excellent gas mileage and it is fun to drive. The design is very innocuous and almost invisible. I live in LA and no one is going to break into a Jetta to see what is inside the center console or glove box. By the way, there is a T in the middle of the word button. The glottal stop is an affection.

I have a Jetta sport with a 6 speed, i love driving it. Its not the gli but it is spirited, and the fuel econony is great.

Great review Kevin! Always appreciate more affordable new cars! I like that the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta comes standard with blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert. The Toyota Corolla, despite being more expensive than the Jetta, does not come standard with those features!

Had a mk4 5spd in grey with the 2.0 aka the 2 point slow. Put race land coilovers and long beach wheels from the GLI on it. Loved that car. Totaled it :(

Happy About the front lights they went back to the 2017 style DRL. Not so sure about the rear lights and the fake looking exhaust on that lower area

Only reason to buy a new care is for improved safety and japanese name plates have simply become unsafe for use on modern US highways underpowered and lacking in real steel amount and too low to the ground. None of these problems exist with the Jetta as a Sedan.

I own a 2024 6-speed. I disagree about handling. It definitely is not precise the way that my older Jettas were (this is my third) but I actually think it feels distinctly like a VW still. I test drove other cars, thinking I wanted to get away from Volkswagen with all the new tech nonsense, but it ended up fitting like a glove.

Nice improvement to the exterior. Interior, not so much. The infotainment screen (just appears as if it is leaning against the dashboard) could be much better integrated. This is a common issue nowadays. I would also prefer a design with the center air ducts higher up for better airflow.

I just got rid of my 2021 SEL Premium. The horn needs to be updated, and the sunroof needs a tint as the cover is porous. The sun will bake you alive while driving. The final straw was a terrible dealership experience. The maintenance on these cars is next level. They are charging luxury prices for a non-luxury product. Went to 2 dealers and they were exactly the same...service advisors did not want to do their jobs and give parse information regarding repairs...they quoted me $1000 for rear brakes only....ain't no way...

I just picked up a 2024 Jetta recently, and I'm glad I didn't wait for this one: the exterior styling here is much better I agree, but that touch screen remains the same 8" I have and is now tacked on the dashboard when it used to fit perfectly well before. I get that this refresh will allow them to go bigger, but right now, this new look just looks bad. The new climate control is also not as easy to use. I do like the stripes running across the passenger side of the dashboard going to that climate control vent. Pretty cool.

I’m a current owner 23 Jetta sport 6mt. Terrible car, extremely long gearing for a manual transmission,feels cheap, and to see for 2025 only a 8 inch screen. Wow….. I see Vw stopping production of these next. They chopped the cc, arteon and Passat so….. it’s like they can’t think of a good design anymore.

Depends, if you want something more sporty the GLI is a great value. The normal Jetta has things going for it though. Optional ventilated seats are a plus. German engineering is a pro or a con depending on who you ask though 💀
