I LOVE how you show pics of the previous model year to compare to the new one. So often when watching other videos when they mention a change I always want to SEE the difference. Great job. I just recently bought a new 2024 GLI Autobahn with a manual because my VW sales guy, as I had asked, called me when he thought that the last Jetta with a six-speed was out. When I hear now that VW will still produce a manual in the 2025 GLI, I feel a bit duped. But seeing the 2024 GLI next to the 2025, I am very happy with my purchase. I am a "young Gen Xer" who loves manuals and hates needless tech. The new one looks sleek, but I am not no sleek.

When it comes to VW, the longer they run a model without major changes, the more reliable it gets, which is a VERY good thing. People who bought a late year 2.5 will attest to that. The Jetta seems to be a solid option in the class and the GLI is a car too many people sleep on.

As refreshs go, that is a substantial one. And all changes I see make sense and are actual improvements. The styling especially is way better. Just like the Atlas, one those really interesting VW cars with decent value for money that we do not get in Germany. VW = Volkswagen = People's car... So value for should in theory the essence of the brand. Nice to see that at least in NA it actually is 😀 In Europe they have Skoda and Seat for that, while VW itself is kind of placed above all the Asian brands, as well as PSA, Fiat and Ford in terms of price, but still slightly below Audi / BWM / Mercedes. So kind of "half premium"? From what I hear, they're better made than the US only models with less cheap plastic on the interior etc... But damn, I still like the Atlas over the Touareg. Especially given hugely expensive the latter is. And the Jetta seems like a perfect car for a Uni student, young people in general or the perfect 2nd car for a family.
@dawsongranger49403 ай бұрын
The interior is objectively worse than the outgoing model but the exterior styling looks better. Capacitive touch climate control sucks and the new screen looks more dated than the old one. Plus capacitive touch buttons on the steering wheel for the gli model. Something people complained about in the golf
@ArthurBenetton2 ай бұрын
Funny to see a German person say that. The VW's sold in the USA are pretty junky, very unreliable, mostly made in Mexico, and the models themselves are a bit different - the last few generations of Passat for North America are bigger than the "real" European one - but cheaper (in cost) and cheaper (in engineering). And the Atlas was built to be exactly that as well, big and cheap. It's really nothing at all like a Touareg, which easily competes with an X5/GLE in engineering and sophistication, setting aside the badge. It sounds like a good recipe, except here in the USA where they are still relatively uncommon compared to their Honda/Toyota competitors - so they still require a specialized European mechanic, difficult to find parts, etc. So in the end you have a cheaply made vehicle, but that is expensive to maintain and difficult to find parts - VW mechanics are the same shops that service BMW/Mercedes. Having a new facelift model every couple of years does not help (which makes parts even more difficult to find)! It's why VW has never quite been able to find a mainstream market in the USA for decades. Still, I like them, and so do some other people. The availability of a manual transmission is one of the other things that helps set them apart - Honda/Toyota no longer offer this is pretty much any car. VW will be at a real loss if they lose this unique offering.
@barneyboyle69333 ай бұрын
I’ll say it a million times if I have to: sedans need to adopt a sportback/liftback design as standard. Leave traditional trunks for sport cars and sub-compact commuters. Give any mid or full size sedan a liftback so it can actually use its cargo space more efficiently with folded seats. The civic hatchback for example is 6” SHORTER from front to back than the sedan is, yet it can fit a full size men’s bicycle in its cargo area without removing any tires. Automakers really aren’t doing enough to market this style. Most normies don’t even know liftbacks exist.
