Finally to fill a gap between yamaha R7(CP2)and R1(CP4) the triple cylinder 890 cc Yamaha R9(CP3) is a game changer for those who wants to experience supersport performance. With brembo brake calipers and KYB front and rear adjustable suspension helps a riders in every way as possible. 5 inch tft screen with Yamaha Y connect Motorcycle App is a plus. On top of that with the price point of MSRP $12,499 it is afforadble.

I know alot of people are talking alot of smack about it and their opinion is fine but Yamaha made this bike to give the average street rider what they want, a street friendly, relaxed ergonomics, still pretty quick sportbike. Yes the MT09 is pretty much identical in the performance but the R9 is lighter more aerodynamic and it has better components

It will be interesting to see what the actual numbers are when the bikes hit a dyno.. with it being lighter and more aerodynamic, different gearing and ecu map i would expect it to be a bit different feeling than the mt-09

People are mixed on rider position but a few people who have sat on it say it’s not very relaxed but actually closer to a 2017+ fireblade in ergonomics, yikes.

My local Yamaha will have black in stock in March. I was told the blue is in May. I don't know why people who don't like this keep complaining. You buy the bike you want and be happy. The only thing I don't like about it is the 3.7 gallon tank. It is too small compared to the R6 and R1. And the same 3.7 gallons as the MT-09 family. This is something I have not liked since the 2014 model and will probably replace it. Because California has no intention of getting the 2024 MT-09SP in stock.

From what I've heard the bike is more aggressive as the R7 but not as aggressive as the R6
