I think for 12k it’s one of the best value for money. A lot of tech. Great engine. Powerful. Complete

For those talking about the hole in the middle, it will not be there when it’s actually produced. There is other videos sharing how it’ll be covered/filled

Thanks for calling out the gap in the engine bay area, it does look odd. Interesting observation about quality as well. Ofc an exhaust is the first thing I'd change, but I wonder if there's anything that can be done to spruce up the look?

Thanks for the review. As an owner of 2 prior R6’s, I got a chance to see a pre-prod unit down here in SoCAL. Just put my deposit down to order one for a March ‘25 delivery.

Great bike for street riding & occasional track days, plenty fast enough to have fun in the twisties, just a beautiful bike! Nice review John!

Wow beautiful motorcycle! Definitely a track weapon

The exhaust and the winglet are almost the deal breaker for me. To me the bike has all the right spec but lack of any emotional draw for me. It made the RS660 looking better. I might have to get one before they put winglet on that one the next year.

I was supposed to go to that event at Motorcycle Mall today but unfortunately I got out of work late and at 6:55 pm I’m still on my NJT commuter bus, never make it in time before it ends.

Even the radiator cap, picking from in between the plastics... it does not scream "buy me" "I am sexy"...

I totally agree with you more or less about everything. I think that the yamaha quality standards have droped the last years. Regarding the 190 rear tyre, althouth it will make the rear end look far better, i guess it could have made the bike less nimble. A good touch is the 43mm front forks straight from the r1, compared to the 41 that most similar bikes have. I appreciate also the new frame but in my opinion, a new swingarm should have been designed too (more racing/ banana shaped). Did you notice by chance if the r9 has a steering damper. I guess it does not.

i was hoping it was nice because I really like the idea of getting it. The exhaust is no different than what I have on my RS660 and probably will be swapped out with an aftermarket system - like everyone does... As for the "Plasticy" finish - I would probably go with the white and red color because the blue defiantly looks plastic....

Great little track bike

Same design exhaust as the rs660 but Aprilia at least covered it well and integrated it into the bike.
@TrackdayroadtripАй бұрын
Like your channel, I agree - the exhaust is ugly, the cosmetics are not refined and don’t look premium…. However, I think the guys at Yamaha kept the price point down by keeping things generic because we all do the same thing when we purchase our bikes - we go straight to the aftermarket products to replace the cosmetics and exhaust. Yamaha knows this and didn’t waste money on things we replace and focus the money on the things we don’t replace - unless we are converting to a track only bike of course… I purchased my R7 in 2022 and my biggest issue was how few electronic rider aids it had. Aside from abs it doesn’t have the same electronics the mt-09sp has. I can only assume it was to keep the price point down…. Since the R9 has the full suite of electronics - it will be (in my opinion) the best track day bike and daily rider. I guess we will find out in April! Keep the videos coming!!!

I agree - the new ducati v2 is at another level for an extra 3k.
@TrackdayroadtripАй бұрын
Yes - but compare the cost over the life of the bikes to keep the warranty valid - authorized mechanical maintenance for a Ducati is huge. If you can afford it then enjoy it! But realistically the cost of maintenance for a Ducati is much higher - not to mention the wait time to have a Ducati serviced is usually much much longer than a Japanese bike….

If you want to be the new test dummy for the new Ducati V2 reliability sure.... Meanwhile the CP3 is tried and tested and proven bulletproof reliable. I'd love to own a Ducati but i'm not taking that financial risk lol.

Not enough power and no provision for swingarm spools? Paddle type stand is being used? Really Yamaha? Decent looking though - good for a track bike

It's only 120 HP you don't need a 190 rear wheel , front Brembo brakes are good .

That hole sucks! They could've added full fairings covering all those gaps to make the aesthetic complete... I'm buying one but modifications are unavoidable...
@SuperPukingRainbowsАй бұрын
I see your take and I feel you already only like the r1, this isn't an r1, the price point is amazing for the electronic suite, premium brake lines, calibers and fork and shocks. so the entire time it is all just nit picking about the color and styling. to say this isn't premium when brembo is right there on the calibers is idk what else to add, but to each their own.

It’s gonna be a great ride. A little carbon fiber, exhaust with re-map, and go ride. Why are we ragging on the exhaust? Our host’s BMW comes with an exhaust that’s even uglier, and we swap them anyway! Frankly I’m thinking some high-temp black cerakote, and leave it just to stay in stealth mode.

Wow. Front end with that cyclops eye is ugly. The exhaust is ugly. The swing arm is puny and ugly. The gaps in the frame are ugly. The amount of “home theater” controller buttons on the grips are ugly and distracting. A far cry from what they took from us.
