The Europeans and Japanese slept on their Laurels while the Chinese worked around the clock to sneak up behind them and bring them down. This is no longer a running joke about Chinese quality. This real so pay attention. The new King Off Road is here.
@cheungchingtong18 күн бұрын
I came from a city in China which manufacturing a variety of exporting products, an uncle of mine owns a company manufactures tractors, he once told me back in the 2000s some Europeans would came and bought his tractors, and asked specifically to blur the Made-in-China label, so they would import those back to Europe, later he found out a Swiss actually shipped the tractors to Greece, then loaded them up and transported to Switzerland, did a little decoration and put a Swiss-Designed label on those, and sold those things at a 25 times price. And same happening to Armani nowadays, they now put most of their manufacturing lines in China, and stop labeling Made-in-Italy, but Designed-in-Italy, and hide the Made-in-China ones in where you could most impossibly find. Most of Chinese made products, the quality of them haven't been a problem since 2000s, the only problem is the importers in your country, like Walmart in the US, they come to China, ask for the lowest prices they could get, even though the factories have told them that at that cost products won't be good, but they couldn't care less about that, all they are thinking about, is how to sell you a product for $100 back home, which they bought it in China for $3-5, that for $3 you wouldn't consider it as bad quality, but for $100 you definitely would.

@@jonarudy yap....the problem is greedy western importers. its a very common practice that western importers mark up their chinese imports 50 - 100 times. then sell them to western consumers. i.e. western brand name eyeglass & sunglass selling 300, 400, 500 usd per pair are pretty much all made/designed in one small chinese town - danyang. their original price out of chinese OEM/ODM manufacture are 3, 4, 5 usd per pair. western brand companies just put their logo on it. mark up 100 times and sell it to you.

Very cool and kudos to the Chinese for taking up the challenge and executing on it. Though, 3500kg would mean in the EU ppl would need a truck drivers license to use it. So, a lighter version; say 2200 kg max, would be more suitable and reach a larger audience. I view the current version more as a halo-car. A technical and engineering exercise and as tour-de-force.

"仰望" in Chinese means looking upward or showing respect for someone. the interior of this car is too old school. However, its buyers, those rich daddies, love it very much. Of course, it can even floating on water like a boat. What's more importantly, this vehicle showcases BYD's e4 platform, with four motors precisely controlling the rotation speed and steering of each wheel which completely subvert the traditional 4x4 model of gasoline vehicles.

That's an amazing car and would be very popular here - at an appropriate price point, not that inflated figure they gave. What this does show us is just how serious the Chinese auto makers are, and the threat they pose to the global incumbents who have been relying way too long on their reputations while providing mediocre products, and often worse service. I'm old enough to remember when everyone made fun of Japanese cars when they first came to Australia - but over 10-20 years they start to dominate. Then it was the cheap Korean brands in the 1980s - which were crap - - but look at them over the past 10 years. People are now starting to accept products like the Tank300/500, GM ZS, and BYD as new mainstream market cars. As these makers sort out and fine tune the vehicles sold in Australia and their reputation grows, sales will boom. Toyota, Ford & Nissan will always keep selling their top products, but a high portion of potential buyers will seriously consider whether its worth paying an extra $20-$30k for something that gives a lot more value.....but the longterm perception of quality/reliability will develop over time. I don't think anyone at Ford or Nissan can assume buyers will choose them instead. Even the new Toyota Prado could see its sales impacted over time.
