Great video, although a few notes, 1. The Anzac class has extremely modern AESA radar and comparing it to the Perry class is ridiculous. 2. The Australian ships will have replaced the Harpoons with the LRASM by that stage. 3. Australia would've used WAY more of the 72 F35As. 4. And finally by that stage the Australian F35s will be carrying the JASM which will decimate any fleet. However I do understand this is all extremely hard to model and I do still appreciate the time and effort you have put in.

This is pretty unrealistic, but fun. Australia is actually helping the Americans catch up with Hypersonics, particularly Scramjets. Australia was the first country to develop a scramjet over 20 years ago and currently has the ability to 3D print them with a max velocity of Mach 12. Australia only talks about using them to deliver satelites into low earth orbit, but it is known locally that they are being developed within the Australian DSTO (Defence Science Technology Organisation) as missiles. A 2030 Australian naval/carrier group is likely to have hypersonic missiles. It should also be mentioned that Australia is also developing the MQ 28 Ghost bat. This is a fully autonomous (AI) stealth, multirole UAV. Pity these can't be modelled in DCS

The ANZAC class frigate has been upgraded to very moden phased array radars, but are being replaced by Australian built versions of the Type 26 that willbe fitted with AEGIS combat systems and an Australian phased array radar. More like Alreigh Burkes than FFG7s, For god's sake RAN FFG7s had MK41 cells. Essentially all RAN vessels these days are specified to use the most modernd USN combat systems and sensors that are USN standard or better. So if you want to simulate an RAN battle group in the 2030s you can essentially use USN escorts, probably Arleigh Burkes. To be fair the hunter class are based on the Type 26, but they will have AEGIS combat systems, Australian phased array radar ( CEAFAR2) and Mk41 cells with standard and essm, so in terms of combat system and radar capability probably the latest Arleigh Burke is closest, althought the Arleigh BUrkeshave deeper magazines. The Canberra class can be simulated with the Spanish Juan Carlos class - because that is the same basic design. You're also leaving out the RAAF which is very well trained and equipped - maybe even optimised for naval strike, since the RAAF shares primacy with the RAN in Australian defence policy and our forward defense strategy. So you could expect F-35A, F/A18Es and F/A-18G, supported by E7s (wedegtails) and tankers in any major battle with the RAN in the asia region, and probably a lot of the Indian ocean. We have a lot of friends in this region, we have been supporting the region with defence for decades, soitis highly likely we could secure basing rights (Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore) in the event of a conflict with China. Oh and Jindalee and P8s, as well as the Australian satellite capabiloty expected to come on line in the nesxt decade could have been expected to give us an information edge. Not to mention int and data from the 5 eyes agreement.

The major problems are the lack of VLS on the Australian Oliver Perry frigates. Even if they get modern radars, the fire rate of interceptors would not be good enough to take down a saturation attack of YJ-83Ks (basically a retired anti-ship missile superseded by the YJ-12K for the Chinese by this point). Also the PLAN won't sail a 2010 technology CSG with their training carrier (that is how they classify the Liaoning) to Australia for absolutely no reason so it isn't realistic to expect "ground based" crafts just because it is an already impossible scenario for 2010 ships, where almost half of which featured in this simulated fleet, are being phased for retirement to the coastguard as of now (and the remaining ships, the type 52c destroyers and older unupgraded type 54As, would be probably put on second line duties and most likely would never form an offensive naval task force). If they are fighting near Japan which is far more likely scenario you would see Chinese land based aircraft too with J20s which were put in service around the 2010s . Nor is basing rights with Malaysia or Singapore possible which view the Chinese more favourably than the US as of now (and also could be shown by them snuffing out Biden's' visit to build an anti Chinese coalition along with most of South East Asia even including the Philippines). Also I think the British Type45 would better simulate the Australian Type 26 frigate than Arleigh burke, since they are fare more similar in terms of displacement and weapon complement numbers.

I'm really quite tired of watching videos where one side gets bugged, resulting in these incredibly uneven matches. If the damn carrier hasn't been launching planes for half the time because it's bugged, it's not a fair fight either way. I want to see a FAIR fight between these two. If the carrier gets bugged, the only logical thing to do is run the battle again. There's nothing interesting about the Chinese getting overwhelmed with numbers because their planes won't launch or the Australians getting overwhelmed with numbers because all their planes ran out of fuel and RTB'd, but won't take off again.

@@Tigerdragon2 I mean, for the cost-conscious military the F-35 is kind of objectively a bad choice even with the incredibly messed-with 'fly-away' price that gets bandied around (which is only so low because they assume that a) it's gonna last 66 years and b) they can accurately predict costs that far out). It's really expensive to buy and to fly! But, honestly, there's not a really realistic world where Australia gets into a major conflict that doesn't include the US, and I think that's the impetus for getting so incredibly few 'modern' aircraft. More and more countries are basically accepting that they're accessories to the US war machine rather than independent forces.

the ai sucks at the point it comes time to retreat and regroup, it seems completely unable to coordinate a second strike. once the australians had superiority of battle (chinese fleet out of defensive missiles) all f35s would have returned for rearmament. there is no way the chinese fleet beats a coordinated next wave of the re armed f35's (especially without their awacs) which delay the new attack to let the australian fleet close in first before attacking in a 50% non stealth ship strike.

Bad tactics by human f35 pilots. 1. You don't try to dogfight with 8k bombs slung on your wings. 2. Try communicating with your wingman if he wants air ground then the other is air to air to clear the enemy airspace while atg hangs back. 3. If you concentrate on taking out the slower antships would conserve some sm2s which could be used for antiship. In regards to the game play, no respawn for the humans but have to RTB and reload if possible. If not, they have to land before respawning to add a little more spice.

Im an australian, and i keep up with australian military news, especially when it comes to aircraft, i have not heard about the australian navy wanting or even considering F-35B's, and the currect landing deck we have cannot even support F-35's because it doesnt have the facilities and the deck itsnt syrong enough or made for fixed wing fighters. However I want to believe that the RAN is wanting F-35B's so if anyone has any information, or finds news about this then please send it through, id love to read about it.

The RAN refitting the Canberra and Adelaide to accomodate fixed wing ops is a schoolboy (and this old farts) fantasy. It won’t happen the RAN don’t want or need F-35 B’s. The LHD’s will operate fixed wing drones, it the only non fling wing assets that they’ll deploy.

Yes my understanding is that although the ship is based on the Juan Carlos - we elected not to harden the flight deck for f35s, so it could operate harriers but not f35s in its current state but could be upgraded in the future - I also don’t believe f35Bs are anything but a keyboard warrior’s dream for Australia - they are too different to the A model so would be considered a whole new class of fighter and the RAAF already didn’t really want multiple types beyond the super hornet,F35A mix they currently have. I suspect the closest we would get would be similar to the British carriers right now, with US marines flying off them as needed.

The RAAF has a very capable mix of aircraft useful for long range strike missions. This includes AWACS, tankers, P-8 maritime warfare aircraft, F-18 Growler SEAD fighters, other F-18s, and F-35As. Australia is also developing a Wingman drone to carry weapons for long range strike missiles. Also, very long range MQ-4 Triton surveillance UAVs. Australia also has a very long range, over the horizon radar systems. And 6 submarines. By 2050 Australia should have 12 nuclear powered attack subs. Australia is looking for more advanced anti-ship missiles to replace Harpoons. And longer term plans for ultra long range anti ship missiles. All of these assets provide a very well coordinated and effective, long range, maritime strike capability. And 3 AEGIS air defence ships. Much of this capability exists now. Also, intermittent satellite coverage over South East Asia. Including the South China Sea.

I know I am a year late but ANZACs replaced the Adelaide FFG, Hobart replaced the old Perth class DDG's do not believe wikipedia, the Aus gov didn't want to spend the money to replace the capability of the Perth class so thought of the ANZACs as a do everything to replace both FFG and DDG's as a cost saver, but they were never a replacement for the destroyers. That capability wasn't fixed until Hobart class was put in service 😉 cheers mate.

The LHD's will probably never carry F35s. There has been a suggestion that a third LHD be purchased and carry F35Bs but I don't think that is likely. The more likely scenario is that the LHDs will carry Ghost Bat drones for air defence. I'd love to see something with Ghost Bats at some point.

I think the Aussies would have been wise to send up several air-to-air F-35s then some air-to-surface then repeat, gradually shifting to more surface attack. That would keep some air defense for later Chinese spawns/launches while keeping pressure on the ships.

Lots of American planes have issues, to begin with, just think of the osprey it was a disaster but now is just a great plane. The point is they work through the issues and usually turn into great planes.

Thanks for trying to do this scenario with what you have. I have to admit that watching an F35 fly into CWIS range was embarrassing. I just put my coffee down, sighed and gave up on this scenario at that point. Equally, watching a single harpoon not be intercepted by missile and then fly through dual CWIS cannon fire to strike and eventually sink the pride of the Chinese fleet? Traffic jam on their carrier And launching aircraft into the sea? That’s just comical. I’d definitely re watch a version of this scenario if it was presented with several kinks ironed out for both sides. Then we can settle with a good and proper dust up, not you know…this. So yes, thank you for attempting it. I was excited to watch however that just faded as I watched cluster after cluster.

As an Australian, this is quite interesting to me. It's quite a bit more likely to happen irl at some point in the future than most people realise, unfortunately. Australia is a country that has a smaller population than a lot of Chinese cities do.....we are massively outnumbered....but we have a lot of warfighting experience and intermesh with US and New Zealand forces totally smoothly. Without Australian coal, Australian farms and Australian iron ore....china's industry literally grinds to a halt and the population starves and freezes to death.....which, on its own, is a good reason to invade Australia if ever we cut them off completely, as it would be a matter of survival. Though, if it came down to actually trying to invade Australia....ha.....good luck with that. Edit: We demand a rematch naturally!

For the rematch, the F-35s need to be able to refuel and go back to combat. One wing of Chinese fighters being saved until no more F-35s were flying was the turn of battle: in reality, they would have died just like the wing that took off, so no turn of battle at the end. Plus, Australian naval assets are way more modern than the ones shown in this scenario. Oh well, those explosions were fun.

@VincentNajger1
@VincentNajger1 Жыл бұрын
@@nic7048 You're kidding right? According to travelchinaguide Chongqing has a population of over 30 million and the four biggest cities are all over 20 million residents. And that's just registered permanent residents....if you included all of the transient worker population, as well as all of the other people that don't get counted as 'permanent' residents, the populations would be way higher....and then if you take into account the city's surrounds and the smaller satellite towns that are regarded as part of the larger cities by the residents, but not officially, you are looking at massive populations that are massively greater than the population of Australia. I don't really understand the point you were trying to make anyway....or am I talking to one of those 50c army Wumao? What a strange thing to arc up about lol

US Congress passed a request by Australia in 2020 for 200 LRASMS ( at the time to be deployed from the F18f Super Hornets and at a later date from the Hobarts and the ANZACS.
