Hint....when you replace your roof, make sure you lay down some ice and water shield first. (My brother has a roofing company up here in Canada. In these climates, it is a must.) Do it in the late spring so the tar has a chance to seal with the aid of the hot summer sun.
@sondraflesch14632 жыл бұрын
I've heard that is a recent shield.. Thanks for reminding me for my build !!
@had2galsinthebooth2 жыл бұрын
Ice and water shield under shingles on that whole section would be a good idea,but,a better idea might be rubber membrane and no shingles because there isn't much fall/slope to it. New roof deck,then glue the rubber down,then do the flashing with unsupported rubber which is easy to form fit. Yellow glue for rubber-to-wood and black glue for rubber-to-rubber. Properly done I think it's like a 50 year material but that might depend on thickness you buy. I'm sure there are good guides for DIY on small section like that. I did flat roofing for only about a year in the early 90s so no expert. Google it.
@ruthking78842 жыл бұрын
@@had2galsinthebooth Grace Ice and Water shield is actually a legal requirement here. and many do them in the spring so the tar on the shingles properly seal when the hot summer sun melds them together....I don't roof, but my brother has been in the business for over 40 years. It is designed specifically for that task. It has been around for decades. Usually insurance for roof damage requires it be done to code for insurance reasons....better check on that.
@had2galsinthebooth2 жыл бұрын
@@ruthking7884 Ice and Water Shield is good stuff and if using shingles on a nearly flat roof it is an absolute must have,I never argued that,matter of fact I said it is a good idea. What if the final "skin" is EPDM rubber? Is the Ice n Water Shield still needed? My research says no,it is not needed and not recommended. Please bear in mind that is if no shingles are used as stated in my other reply. And now I leave you to your own devices,good day.
@ruthking78842 жыл бұрын
@@had2galsinthebooth I am not sure. I agree with your idea, I was just wondering about insurance. I am not sure what they require there. I know if you have insurance coverage for roof damage on household insurance, they can use any excuse to get out of paying....just might want to check on what the requirements are where you are.

From my experience creosote isn’t as likely to form when a fire burns fast and hot. Your old stove wasn’t efficient but it moved a lot of air thus lowering the formation and buildup of creosote. Your new stove will burn slow and efficient but may require a good seasonal cleaning.

Also, hardwood, like oak, creates less creosote buildup than soft woods, like pine.

Great Job, video Hanna. That’s a nice looking stove you installed. The tile and wall ventilation is a great idea for less clearance from a wall. Keep a old pot for boiling water on the stove top. That way you get some free steam heat and moisture from your stove. A fresh air hole 🕳 close to the stove on the floor will give your fire air and not sucking air from a window or door. Stops cold air from creeping across the floor from unwanted leaks in your cabin. Thank you for sharing Girl enjoy your new stove and stay safe 🙏🏽

We used to clean the chimney at the old place (we just recently moved) once a week, and we had the brush attached to a long rope either side, and a railroad spike on the end. We’d drop the spike down, and one person would be in the roof, and the other would be under the chimney inside, and we’d just pull the rope back and forth for awhile 😂 was my least favorite day of the week.

You can move a woodstove easy by yourself using levers. Grab two 2X4s, a four footer and a 38-40"er. Hold the 40"er under the edge (lip) of the woodstove horizontally. Place the four footer vertically under the 40"er, under the lip of the woodstove on the side that faced the camera. Then wedge the four footer under the four footer (kicking the bottom end out towards you as needed), so the 40"er is wedged up under the lip of the woodstove lip. Now push down on the end of the 40"er and lift the stove about 3" up on the side and then facing the camera. While holding the stove up 3", now push the end of the 40"er to your right about 18". That will move the stove (one the side facing the camera) to your left about 8". Not sure the proper term, but I always called it "walking". Rinse and repeat, alternating sides until you walk it back to where you need it. Easy-Peasy. =)

Love your new woodstove I have been waiting for this moment and I'm assuming you looked up all the code for your specific woodstove but usually if you have single wall pipe it has be to 21 inches away from the wall even with the cement board. I would just check into that if anything you can get double or triple walled pipe and that can be much closer to walls. Same with the woodstove each specific woodstove has different specs of how far from combustible surfaces it can be. But sorry if you already checked all of this but I just figured I'd mention it my boyfriend and I built a hearth under and around our woodstove and the code was tough to navigate but so happy with it now and so excited that you have an efficient stove with the window! (It's so nice to watch the fire and be cozy) love your videos so much!

i so look forward to your videos and love your little dances and Matt looks just cool when he does it too which is a miracle because you are so cool and you could easily over shadow Matt but he is the stable one and strong and he is just what you need and he is not embarrased by your out burst of energy Love you both xxx

Oh please use closed caption. I would love to know what you are saying. Even though I can't hear your music, which everyone seems to love, I do feel your rhythm thru your dancing. Love your happy mood and determine work ethics. I think you are awesome. Please add CC.
