Learned to surf in Ocean Beach NJ in 65 but I was a Eastern LI dude surfing Toby,,Gilgo and the Eastern end of LI ..Hamptons etc. Once able to drive I was headed south road trips to Hatteras and Florida Then west for 35 years. Bali Indonesia, Hawaii at 70 yrs old I still get pumped when I see East coast surf rise up to this size. I can remember freaking epic days in Shinnecock inlet surfing beautiful lefts inside the breakwall. Surfing is the absolute best sport there is in my opinion. Guys and girls enjoy every fucking moment in the ocean and on the waves. You will play them back in your mind forever! Peace out! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Love your comment Scott! My old man grew up in Neptune and Avon surfing whatever wherever it was from Asbury south to AC. He’s 77 now but still paddles out, shoulder willing, on calmer days. Just to feel it. He hasn’t seen this video yet but I can’t wait to hear his reaction. Awesome work Ryan!

Surfers living in warm climates don’t realize how difficult it is to surf with full wet suits , cold water and howling , offshore winds slowing your drop to the point where the wave is already closing over you and peeling so fast , you hope you can make it! I’ve surfed waves like these in Montauk and the outer bar at Ponquogue. My respect goes out to these guys.

I’ve been surfing the east coast for 35 years. Mass to FLA and everywhere in between. This is the heaviest swell I’ve seen ever. It’s punching like Pipeline. Typical offshores, a little too strong, 15-20 as usual, but not terrible. Hats off guys. Even in my prime, not sure I would’ve paddled out.

I grew up on the Jersey Shore in the 80s and surfed as a kid, shout out to Grogs Surf Shop and Brighton Beach SSP. Never in my life have a seen anything remotely close to those conditions. Come on man.....first off....these waves are not 20 feet....they are 8-10 to 12 maybe a 15 foot set wave of the day. The camera angle drone makes it a bit deceiving. Second pipeline can and does get legit 25. I was 60's and 70's South Seaside Park Midway beach local, Casino Pier surfer.

nice to see the surfing community finally giving some recognition to new jersey. It doesn't get this big often here, those who grew up surfing New Jersey know how to surf and aren't scared to surf big waves. Can't tell you the amount of times I've been in hawaii or so cal and when i tell people im from Jersey in the lineup or paddling out they 'ye always surprised or give a weird face impression especially during some swells

Just had my wife watch this video and she was amazed by the cinematography and choice of music put together so well. The sun, offshore whisps of spray and the timing of music was matched perfectly. Those sets were monsters. Glad those guys got to drop in and at least get barreled before judgment day. Oh what stories to tell! Peace out!
