I have a 21 Aprilia Tuono Factory 1100 with the race ecm, and upgraded exhaust. Riding buddies have the 22 Ducati Streetfighter Sp and the 22 KTM superduke. For me the Aprilia engine is much more suited for street riding. While the KTM has a bunch of low end grunt it quickly runs out of steam up top. The Duc has improved the mid range since its debut, but still makes most of its power up top. All are comfortable, and are amazing machines, I still favor the Aprilia, the chassis is just supreme, the engine has a great mid range punch with decent power up top. The Yamaha is just out of its league in comparison. Tuono, Superduke, Streetfighter, Beemer are simply amazing machines, best ever built period, anyone of them are just fantastic!

Love how people get soooo butt-hurt when their make and model isn't number one in a test. Your bike is your number one to you, so be happy. The Tuono had won the vast majority of the naked for the past 10-ish years from many respected, online magazines and sites.....for a reason, it's that good and for the most part, edges the others out by just a little. I've ridden all of them and agree, the Tuono is the best (IMHO). Deal with it ya'll! 😀

And it depends on the review. I just watched one with Sd in first place, Duc in second and the Tuono third. Ultimately, all of these bikes are great and we're splitting hairs mostly. Ride what inspires you and that you genuinely enjoy riding. I've owned both the Tuono and SD, and will take the SD every day for fun street riding. My 6'2 body doesnt care much for the cramped Tuono riding position either.

@fabiena1787
@fabiena1787 Жыл бұрын
The problem is: fixing the brake isn't that easy. Ok for the pads, etc. but I think the main problem is in the electronics of the bike. European bikes generally allow for a mode that disables the ABS on the rear. In return, you get ALL of the available power for the front. Getting your braking impaired because you are loosing some weight on the rear is really irritating. Of course you can try and disable the ABS totally... But why, Yamaha?
@nicksokolis6343

As fabiena1787 said the problem is the ABS. If upgrade the brakes, calipers disks pads etc then the abs will be even worse.

I am a Ducati fanatic and still no bike has ever convinced me to change, but my friend had a Tuono V4 Factory with just an Akrapovic slip on and it was the best sounding bike on the race track. Before we both started riding on track bikes we went on our hypernakeds on the track and everytime he went by on the straight, people were looking, what kind of MotoGP bike that is, just from the sound. Then he bought the first Panigale V4S and had it for 3 seasons. That bike was an absolute beast. He sold it and after that went for one more track day again on the stock Tuono and he beat his own time by 1s compared to the V4S! On contrary, another friend is racing hypernakeds in an amateur championship. He had the KTM SuperDuke 1290, Aprilia Tuono Factory and the S1000R. He won the championship twice. For him, the Aprilia was the worst of them. The first friend had the S1000R before the Tuono and said that the BMW was the worst bike he ever had. So you see how subjective motorcycles are. I tested a lot of new bikes with inline 4, V4 and V2 engines and for me the V2 always wins. On road... On track... Motorcycles are very subjective, as long as you are not a pro rider, who can use the maximum from that bike and than he will always opt for the fastest and strongest bike.

And as a taller rider, 6'2, the SD is way more comfy. If I was gonna do track days, I'd prob prefer the Tuono. Bust for strictly street riding, SD wins in my books. It's also not as thirsty as the Tuono.

Test rode Aprilia just before I ordered the bike. Unfortunately the ergonomics is a nightmare and the heat generated from the bike was definitely a write off. Jumped straight onto the KTM evo and was blown away. So comfortable, so much torque and a great city bike for commuting. The front of bike looks like a Batmobile. Also, the Aprilia looks really cheap and plasticky. So glad that cancelled the Aprilia factory and bought the KTM Evo. Also with £2000 additional offer from the dealer for the part exchange helped with the down payment. Got the dealer to install Puig screen and a tail tidy. The Evo now is just perfect! If you get a chance do ride the KTM. It’s brilliant!

@@King_Harrold I've got a 2016 Multistrada and it's exquisite to ride but it ate the con rod bearing at 29k miles. Fortunately I bought a service contract on it that paid the $9k to repair the engine. In the end the second contract will expire after I've owned the bike for 10 years, which I guess is sort of good for a Ducati. If I take the purchase price and divide by 10 I guess that's the annual fee for riding it, and if it survives any longer than that, that's gravy. Next bike is probably a Ninja 1000. You don't hear people saying "oh man, my Kawasaki broke down." Suzukis are also pretty reliable.

Excellent review! However, the KTM makes a 180 HP & weighs 417 dry. I also have to say that if you upgrade the stock stabilizer on the KTM to an adjustable one, which WP offers, the uneasiness of the bike in the corners that they mentioned in their review, goes away. The bike is so smooth in any corner. And if you encounter bumpiness in the corner, the adjustable stabilizer works great. If you owe a KTM or are thinking about getting one, is something I definitely recommend.

The KTM service i received was ok but nothing like BMW or Ducati i cant tell you, over the years I've been with all three manufactures. Reading between the lines on the UK KTM forum if you get a good KTM then your golden however if you get a bad one its the start of a lot of issues coming your way.@@salsadurauk

I had a SuperDuke R, a current gen MT10, and a previous gen MT10. I now ride a '23 XSR900, and also have a '22 R1. For really going fast, I prefer the R1, for sitting upright in the wind, I prefer the light and slim XSR that I can hold wide open frequently by comparison to a Hyper-N. The Hyper-Ns are great, but are somewhat compromised by their wind exposure, size, weight, and rotating mass. When I used to have one and was riding with any speed, I found myself thinking "I should have just taken the R1 instead". BTW, Euro 5 really knocked the shine off the MT10. In factory tune the engine feels pretty dead compared to the previous generation. And the wonderful head spinning goose bump inducing wail the bike use to make is completely gone... replaced by modest induction noise. I was disappointed to see how many moto-journalists down-played this and instead went with Yamaha's talking points on the "new exciting sound". Just sold my 8th new-bought KTM. I am back firmly in the Japanese camp and don't plan on going back to that brand.

Dealer network and support has to be considered! Two weeks ago I was in the market for these bikes and actually bought the KTM over the Aprilia, the main reason being that the Aprilia dealer network is very sketchy here and the dealer would not even allow a test ride. Sorry Aprilia, KTM gets the win! And the $ ! (and c’mon Yamaha, you basically started this field with the original badass FZ1, get with the program and build a full tilt MT-10R!)

Its so funny how no matter what Yamaha riders just cant take a "L".... There isnt a bad bike, car or truck on the market but in shootouts someone has to win.....Aprilia tuono has been winning this class for quite some time by multiple testers now so its really not a surprise.... If you know yourself well enough you can pick one best suited.... Aprilia has nailed it with that chassis and pkg and std version is less than a Yami.....

Still insane for me to see how low the horse power is on US Spec bikes. In eu spec the ktm makes 180, aprilia 175 and MT10 160. S1000RR makes around 190 to the wheel EU and less than 190 to the crank in the US. I saw an S1000RR in the US make 183 hp to the wheel with full exhaust and a tune, which in turn would give a EU spec bike around 200-210 wheel horse power. Is it down to emissions in the US? I thought the US was "open" to power.

Here's the thing: it's an oversquare short-stroke sporting twin. It needs revs. Keep the tach above 4500 RPM and most of the vibes go away. It won't hurt it and in fact, KTM recommends operation at 5,000 rpm or higher... oil pressure is high there and the engine gives good performance AND fuel use at that RPM. I rarely use 5th gear, much less 6th gear... at 130kph there's a ton of air hitting you on a naked bike, and the KTM is very, very naked. I do see guys fitting screens to them since the engine is very happy running over 200kph if you wanted to.

Having owned a '16 MT10 and a '22 Tuono, I'd go for the MT10 every time. The Tuono vibrated, the clutch rattled, the quick shifter and blipper were only good after a Gabro flash. I traded the Tuono on a S1000R and it's a better bike in every way, regarding suspension, electronics, etc. It doesn't have the sound or torque of the Tuono though, which is why I'd take the MT10 over a Tuono. Things get a lot more fuzzy choosing between the S1000R and MT10... For sports riding the ergonomics of the S1000R are better but for longer rides and general quick riding, the MT10 is better... The 22 MT10 SP brakes were worse, which were resolved with EBC HH pads. The forks have been pulled through the yolks 10mm, as the MT wasn't as nimble as the BMW. The fuelling is brilliant and the new Ohlins is a HUGE improvement on the previous MT. Ergonomically, I fitted different bar risers, which lowered the bars 10mm as well as increasing the reach 10mm, which definitely helps for sporty riding.

I want a Moto GP KTM V4 powered naked bike. How can the MT10 only make 134 - 135hp? I think those are rear wheel hp ratings but still it's listed with 165 brake hp how could it lose 30 hps? I guess tho same for the KTM and Aprillia, both at listed with 175 and 179/180 brake hp and much lower power ratings you list (155/157hp?)

I see a lot of guys getting 168 wheel out of them, roughly as stock. But frankly that's a lot for this kind of bike! Even then, the exhaust and tune shouldn't make another 19hp, so I'd suggest that we are seeing - at least partially - differences in dyno readings partially. Not every dyno reads the same.

(Am early in vid 3:45Min) am curious about the hp being 20 less on the MT10….I assume the mt can easily get a ecu flash tune to not only increase the hp dramatically but how it’s delivered, basically turning it into an upright R1 …do the other bikes have their engines “down tuned “ also? And if so is it as big a down tune as the mt has , etc etc?

The Ktm Superduke is not designed as a streetbike. The older Superduke was, the one with the adventure frame, the new one is basically just a naked rc8r with the superduke 1290r engine. U actually can feel the difference in how the two superdukes feel at low speeds(crawling traffic), the new simply feels more cumbersome ie like a sportbike is while the old sd1290r feel still very nimble even at slow speeds and at higher speeds the older feels twitchy and the new more planted. Basically the new sd1290r is just a naked superbike just like the mt09, tuono v4, mt10, bmw and streetfighter is, just that the superbike version from KTM is discontinued. But, now I keep on watching the vid :P
