Great video. Thank you for your theories or observation at the end.

Good job as usual with your videos. Glad to see the volcan Do well on this test I was expecting it to be number one overall after drag test . But its not because lighter weight m2 held Just about as good. If you had A 21 pound m2 verses 21 volcan With 5 drags each Its my feeling the volcan will Be number one ⚓⚓⚓ I have a volcan 55 and it saved My boat when I had a motor failure at a drawbridge. With less Then a 3to1 scope do to Is proximity to a bridge and rock jetty in a 2 knot current Towards the bridge

will a 4kg vulcan be a good choice for a 20t sail boat 1800lbs ? i think so.

Thanks for your testing, really appreciate it. At 27.20 you mentioned that you later would test all chain vs rode for holding and setting. Is that something you will do soon? We would be interested in all rode, partly chain and rode etc. Thanks again.

Did you publish raw measurement data in a table rather than the subjecive rating?

Thanks Steve you are doing an absolutely amazing job. In Sweden and around the Baltic Sea there is a lot of mud bottom Cy on the charts. Sometimes almost only clay. And here, copies of Bruce are the absolute most common anchor, like 90% use it. Because it is mud, the anchor is very firmly attached. You often need to back over the anchor. Just like you had to do with the last anchor (Vulcan) in the test. Have you done any tests on that type of bottom. In the order of 12-15 kg. 26-33 lbs. Boat size 28-35 feet We usually anchor against land. That is, stern anchor and bow towards land. So it's exclusively moves in one direction. Regards per

Also disappointed you didn't include others like the Bruce......
@flygoodwin3 жыл бұрын
I included every 20lb. (range) anchor that I have (except Danforth 18H). I have been searching for a similar size Bruce on Craigslist every day for months. No luck.
@s.v.gadder14433 жыл бұрын
I am curious because I don't believe the Bruce was tested in that substrate before. And because I added a 20kg/44lb Bruce to my anchor list and here in the panhandle/ near by areas there seems to be a lot of that type of sand mud, my Danforth does great 90% of the time but I'm also considering cutting the Danforth bottom "claw" to a point, I know that at times it has a hard time digging in....

Steve, Would you be interested in testing a 21 lb titanium anchor we have developed? Bob

I'm curious how much your camera tether effects the weed gathering... j.s.
@flygoodwin3 жыл бұрын
It is rare that weeds become entangled in the camera tethers. I think what happens, is that the chain tends to slide over top of the weed, pushing it down, shielding the camera tether.

I'm would have liked to have seen a Danforth style anchor in the mix, not the aluminum fortress; seeing as the test was done in sandy/mud.

I recently picked up an 18lb. High Tensile Danforth. Stay tuned......

What happened to the Bruce? I have always thought more chain the better, but looking forward to no chain with diving anchors. Would save weight and need for windlass

Steve, once again, thanks for all your work. I do have to ask though; have you been contacted by any of the manufacturers yet? LOL
@flygoodwin3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. In fact, it was Spade Anchor USA that contacted me very early on, with an offer to test one of their anchors, thus starting this ball rolling, in earnest. Since then, the following manufacturers have submitted anchors for testing: Anchor Right, Mantus, Kingston, Viking, Ultra, Knox. Fortress has supplied info and replacement parts, and several others have offered to supply test anchors that I have sadly declined due to being overwhelmed with testing. I have now tested over 60 different anchors.
