Setting up my home built 20m Moxon Beam Antenna in some free space. Still some minor issues to overcome but no showstoppers. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below?

I have been using a 20 meter Moxon in a fixed location pointing about 85 degrees from my home in Oregon USA for two years. It is only 25 feet off the ground. I have confirmed 75 Countries, 6 Continents, All 50 US States, locations from Australia to Finland, from New Zealand to Greenland. I love the Moxon antenna.

I’m really enjoying watching you work through each Challenge. I’d like to see a close up of how you are attaching the wire to each spreader. I would also be trying two thin plastic cutting boards (polypropylene ) to sandwich those saddle clamps between. I used a single on my build and it flexed too much, but I think two thinner would be pretty stiff.
@MM0OPXFieldRadio2 жыл бұрын
I will show this in a later video, it was something I notice others didnt show this so had to figure out myself. The thin chopping boards are much more flexible than these plates believe it ot not, I've tried them.

@@MM0OPXFieldRadio , well that will save me from trying the cutting board idea, thanks. Maybe two individual sheets of thiner aluminum then what Chuck had originally suggested…. Hmmm

Check out what Steve has done. He has used 1.5mm aluminium plate with great success. g1ybb.uk/lightweight-20m-moxon/

Colin your spreader poles must be more heavy duty than mine that was quite the bend. You might try moving the inside one closer to the mast and see if that will spread the tension and slide the spreaders in a bit like you said. Looking good though!
@MM0OPXFieldRadio2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chuck. I have the next size up of end clamps that will grip further down. That should reduce the tension a lot. If that's not enough I also have the next size up again to try.

Its not outwith the realms of anyone as a portable antenna Andy. Hopefully inspires some others.

Sadly here in the UK there are many many (thousands probably) cheap battery chargers that have huge RF noise outputs. One from Amazon is quoted as “our biggest seller”. The one I found / replaced had its RF suppression components deleted during assembly. They knew that no one enforces the interference directives in the UK so let’s save a $ … heartbreaking for us.

Absolutely. The initial sample is submitted for type approval has required filtering but serial production doesn't. I'm just glad I was able to locate rhe source and then switch off when operating.

Great video - where do you get those rubber clamps?
@MM0OPXFieldRadio2 жыл бұрын
They come from flowfitonline.com, part numbers start with RAVG. Search for this then select your size.

Hi Colin,happy new year,is this the same width size as a hexbeam?? Cheers
@MM0OPXFieldRadio2 жыл бұрын
Happy new year Andy. Not 100% sure but think the hex is not as wide. Less visual impact with the Moxon IMO.

Nice one , are you looking to sell this as a kit ? I might be interested

Unfortunately not but hoping to supply a bill of material along with the drilling template for the centre plate. All will be be free of charge.
