For as long as back as I can remember to childhood I was bullied constantly into High School. They couldn't have destroyed my life any more completely as I ended up doing drugs being homeless and ending up in a shelter. It got bad enough for me to want to change as I've been in Chelsea Manhattan resident since 2004. But I came to the realization that anyone who had a problem with me then who has a problem with me now has the problem as I realize that the children that we once were we're no longer as we have become adults and I forgave them as I attended my high school reunion and was told that I was the most gracious person there and that being an outcast wasn't by choice.

Inspirational. Shows anybody no matter their race, appearance, disabilities, sexuality, gender or differences is equal,and capable of achieving their dreams. The music, the absolute heart and emotion put into the vocals, the lyrics, the choreography is just perfect. Nobody starts caring about them or seeing things differently but they stop caring that they don’t care. Every actor put their all into every second of this song and I am so proud of it. One of my all time favourites.

To each their own interpretation of course, but this is absolutely not what the song is about. They are fed up from being bullied for their differences of course, but the song is not about being equal... It's about standing UP and go on.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song. My wife and I were watching the movie in the theater and I was in tears the entire time. I’ve been a large man my entire life. I blame no one for my obesity but myself. But I’ve been laughed at, verbally mocked, ostracized, and told that I’m worthless every day. Every. Day. I’ve never heard a voice that spoke directly to my soul like this one.
@ashleyboyd15642 жыл бұрын
My daughter has vitiligo and this song got her the same way. We watched it home first, and bought the cd, so she listened to this over and over for days until she had it memorized. Several months later, we had the pleasure of attending a sing-along at our local theater and her singing along to this had ME in tears because it was like she had found her anthem. I made her a shirt for the occasion with the phrase "I am brave, I am bruised, I am who I'm meant to be- THIS IS ME." She belted out those words with all the fire she could muster from her little 9 year old body, and it was very moving. She is proud of how she looks and tells everyone "God made me this way, so why would I change it?" One of the docs in our pediatrician's office criticized me for not making arrangements for her to have laser therapy to attempt to even her skin tones, starting at the age of 5 or 6. When she was ln 4th grade, she wrote a piece for her school's Reflections contest about her struggles with being made fun of and dealing with "being different" and she won for the school and got 2nd place at the county level. She was picked on by several kids this year, her first year in middle school, but thankfully, it was handled swiftly. I said all that to say, from the mom of someone who has faced those hateful words, we send our virtual hugs of support to you, and say "don't let the haters get ya down!" ❤

@𝕄𝕚 • 𝕝𝕠 Sorry for the late answer but… Some conditions can cause facial hair/excessive body hair in women! It’s called hirsutism/hypertrichosis & it’s usually caused by increased level of androgens. Some conditions (such as endocrine issues, genetic mutations, PCOS etc) can cause hormonal imbalance & excessive hair growth in women. The characters in this movie are based on real life. “Bearded ladies” were popular circus performers back in the day. Some parents sold their children to circus because they were born different... I think that’s just horrible & sad 😔 Google Annie Jones Elliot, she was a famous “bearded lady”! I want to note that “bearded ladies”/women with hirsutism are not trans or male in any way - They’re just women that have beard/lots of hair! ♥️

This song works for everyone who has a “flaw”: I can apply this to both my bisexuality and autism, for example. No matter what problems people think this movie has, I’m glad it exists for this song.
@CMS-qo3wz3 жыл бұрын
I love the way you put “flaw” in quotation marks. I’m gay and autistic too. But just because society says I am “wrong” or “flawed” doesn’t mean it’s true. I am me and it’s who I’m meant to be. No one should have to be ashamed of who they are. We all deserve to just live our life happily and to love and be loved. (Happy Pride month to anyone who reads this 🥰🏳️🌈😊)
