On March 4th, several videos circulating online captured the moment a white new energy vehicle exhibited at the Hangzhou Auto City caught fire. According to reports, smoke suddenly billowed from this vehicle within the exhibition hall of the auto city. Firefighters rushed to the scene, daringly moved the smoking car to the parking lot outside, where it erupted into flames.

not only that they're only good for around 5 years (since that's the life of the battery) meaning it doesn't become carbon neutral from the manufacturing (since that takes 10 years). not only that the use of cobalt in the makings of the li-ion batteries creates a byproduct that's worse for the environment than spent uranium

@@nvcxznbcxz To begin with I never said anything about batteries being produced in Europe, even tho Tesla does produce theirs in the USA Gigafactory, and Panasonic produces cells in Japan as well if you're talking about options outside of China, but even that isn't the problem. The Chinese cells aren't the issue for being built there, but the simply obvious lack of quality control and quality overall of the domestic market products they're selling in China for the Chinese is what I'm talking about. The Chinese make batteries for all kinds of products we use, high quality products at that, so we DO have better options even from China itself, the Chinese people don't tho, unless you want to import something from overseas if even possible, and then deal with parking it along the other bombs for maximum investment protection.

This channel usually does not put the numbers in relaton to the size of the country and often shows incidents from different years. China has a billion people. Thats three times as much as the US. So quite normal to have three times the accidents. But I also think china sells their better quality products to western countries, while they sell the crap to their own people. Their own people can not speak out about this. Also I think their is a lot of corruption in China which leads to disobey common safety rules. Also every country has its special problems which are not easy to adress because of culture and mentality. For a general comparision I would say there are way more shootings in the US per 1000 people than in China, Germany or Russia. While Germany has a very high level of alcohol consumption, higher than Russia which puts a burden on their health system. China has a lot of problems thats true, but I do not think these quality problems and corruption bring them down. We need to look at similiar countries like North Korea and Russia. Full of crap and corruption, but still dangerous. We should not underestimate them.

(Oh, dear...) You do know that lithium, itself, isn't actually toxic, don't you? One of the main lithium-based battery chemistries 'lithium iron phosphate' isn't toxic at all either. It is only the inclusion of *very small* amounts of toxic rare earth elements such as cobalt that make *some* lithium-based batteries 'toxic'. And even then, they pale in comparison with the standard lead-acid battery that has been in every car since the dawn of the mass-motoring age. Consider the number of lead-acid batteries that surround you everywhere you go! Where do you people get your information from? Do you just believe everything you read or hear without taking a moment to question the source and what axe they may have to grind or what profit they may be trying to protect by spreading this sort of click-bait screaming hysterical headline nonsense? Some perspective (which took exactly 5 seconds to discover via an internet search) - "An estimated 212,500 vehicle fires caused 560 civilian deaths 1,500 civilian injuries; and $1.9 billion in direct property damage in the US during 2018.": www.nfpa.org/education-and-research/research/nfpa-research/fire-statistical-reports/vehicle-fires. It is not the case that LI-Ion batteries are notorious for exploding or even catching fire. Li-Ion batteries that are not made to a HIGH STANDARD, for which they HAVE TO BE, are notorious for catching fire. This is a Chinese exclusive problem right now, it could spread to other countries when those countries don't have good consumer protections including the right to sue companies. But, in the US when it's been found that certain products have batteries that have been show to fail, there are recalls, law suits, etc..... to make sure it doesn't keep happening and this is consequently why Tesla vehicles rarely experience fires and the newer the vehicles are the more likely they never catch fire as Tesla works to continuously improve their own batteries, or the batteries they get via supply chains. It's also why Tesla would rather use Li-Ion batteries made in Japan and are more expensive than use batteries from China and typically only use Chinese made batteries in the Chinese market. And this is also why Apple has a LOT of inspection of their supply chains for parts that will go into their devices and will boot companies from being a supplier for Apple when it's shown their quality dropped. You HAVE to do this if you manufacture in China because a company will make a product to the specs a company wants and then 1 year later you find they've changed out some stuff so they can make more profit and now the quality isn't the same. It's also why most European and American companies should have NEVER started manufacturing in China.

I really doubt they sell this crap to Europe. They do as every dictatorship does, shit on own people an try to look good to others. I am from Germany. All car reviews for Chinese cars I saw where quite ok, even the German technical organisation (TÜV) which checks every vehicle every two years had not found anything worse than with other manufacturers. But the sale numbers a quite overestimated. The most sold Chinese car in Germany last year was the MG, and that was around 22.000 cars. When it comes to EVs, Germans mostly buy Tesla, Hyundai and VW. And when it comes to electrial bikes you hardly would finde someone who tries to fix it by himself. For China these may be common daily use vehicles, for Germans it is more a fancy thing to buy when you already have anything and want to look like you care about the enviroment. Or for elderly people who want to look sporty ("Hey i am 70 and still ride a bike"). They are also called "retiree killers" because so much elderly people who are not able to handle them are killed in traffic.

@@rogerbartlet5720 Tool batteries get totally flogged with rapid draining, rapid charging, constant vibration and the occasional shock when they're dropped off a ladder or slammed against a wall when drill binds up. They routinely get so hot internally during use that almost all chargers are built to check a thermal probe in the battery before they charge. Most brands withstand this just fine for many hundreds of charge cycles, because the cells are good quality and they're made with care - you can afford to hand-assemble them at the prices we get charged.

Well as they explained, this doesn't solve the problem. This just means you pack a bunch of highly flammable vehicles in a very confined space, so that when one goes up in flames, all of them do. And then you have tens of people whose only means of transport is completely destroyed, and they're just told "go ask the owner of the one that caught fire first to pay for a new one". And there's no way that single person/family is gonna be able to pay for 50+ new EV bikes. So you're completely SOL.

Maybe one day, but battery technology for motor vehicles is not there yet. They need to be the size of a conventional car battery and have a range of at least 1000 kms and fully recharge in less than 5 minutes. At the moment pure EV's are impractical and there excessive weight compared to ICE vehicles results in more damage to the roads, excessive brake pad wear, resulting in pollution of the environment, and excessive and accelerated tyre wear. Providing mor pollution and environmental damage.

A concrete wall with a cavity in the center for filling with sand can prevent spreading of fires with e-bike parking. This should be required in China as they have plenty of sand. Each bicycle parking spot should be on 0.5 meters of sand. That way if the concrete wall melts sand dumps on the bike making it unable to burn. When making a battery pack I keep a bucket of sand as snuffing out oxygen is the only way. Sand filled ceilings would work too.

I recently visited a EV battery repair shop and the repair guy told me there are over 20 years old electric bikes on the road, not with the original batteries though. Usually the batteries wear out and are replaced because they have limited recharging cycle, but sometimes in the end one cell can short out and cause a fire. Since all the bikes are covered with plastic it’s common that the whole parking area burns down. The battery cell manufacturing is a mature but each cell ages differently so among the billions of cells there are always some that short out.
