£21 a night to stay here and it was wonderful!

The Grange Caravan & Camping site by Caister On Sea in Norfolk is a great little find.
With it's blend of hard standing & grass pitches and 16amp EHU we thought we had all that we needed but there was more because The Smokehouse restaurant at The Grange served amazing texan ribs, burgers, chicken & steaks. It was so good, we managed more than one trip there!
We visited Hemsby with it's mini Las Vegas Amusements, slots, bingo, fair ground rides and more (Savannah loved it)and Dave went star gazing!!

Hi there, Great vlog on the smokehouse site. I live in ormesby st Margaret and going to book in here for a few nights hopefully before they close for the winter or if not when they re open next year. . I’m a first time caravaner and have yet to go on my first outing with the van. Don’t want to travel to far on my first time , so this is going to be perfect. Hi Helen and Dave, have not been to Norfolk in over 30 years, the Smoke House makes me think I should make the effort. Update, collected our Caravan last Sunday, an hour on the M5 later we were at our fist ever site. Greeted by very friendly owner who after we told him we had only had the Caravan for an hour and a half, congratulated me on how close I got the 'van to a concrete bollard without touching it! Said if he wanted a laugh he should come and watch my first attempt at reversing. Gave us a site map with suggested best route to our pitch, he then met us there, not to take the Mick, but to bring a cordless drill, spirit level and a couple of wood blocks. He then proceeded to coach my wife where to stand to spot for me. He then came back a couple of hours later to check we were okay and had everything working - absolute Superstar! Having stayed our 2 booked nights we decided to travel on a bit further, having sort of got ourselves organised we booked a night at a CAMC site and moved on, all went well - ish. Contrast to the private site, I got moaned at for being 4 inches off the "peg". Our membership will be short lived if this is normal, I'm chuffed if I can get the 'van straight at this point! A couple of things we learned in our first few days as Caravanners, Fly screens are not net curtains, don't stand butt naked in front of them! Fortunately only the wife saw and warned me!! Waitrose ready meals are absolutely the way to go for minimal washing up, we had Lasagne, Fish Pie and Cottage Pie with various veg' which were "pinged". (neither site was close to a Pub or Restaurant) Use a checklist, particularly for packing up, would save ploughing a furrow in the pitch with your Jockey wheel. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Did we enjoy our DIY break rather than our usual Hotel trips? Absolutely! Our 'van has Alde wet central heating so we have already booked sites into November to see how we get on, a Caravan is still an experiment for us, but so far the results look promising! Hi Caz & Squash, interesting because we’ve also encountered a chalk & cheese approach this week between a private site & a CAMC site, won’t bore you with the details but I was asked to move the caravan (after it took me an hour to set up) because the pitch posts were too wide (someone had moved a post before we arrived) but it’s there job to ensure that the pitch is prepared and ready before we arrive. Anyway, glad you’re enjoying it and it’s Waitrose all the way 👍 Take care Dave & Helen. 👍

Hi Dave and Helen, a lovely camp site, lovely to meet Coco, funnily enough my aunt and uncle had an African grey parrot and he used to sing "the sun has got his hat on" and mimic their voices telling the dog to sit and many more things, they are so clever aren't they. @HelenandDave Right now I live in Pasadena Florida West Coast St. Petersburg area. I retired from working in DC a few years ago moved here to enjoy the beaches. Unfortunately I collapsed paralyzed a few years after moving here cancer Stage 4 I never knew I had. So I am in a nursing home in Pasadena Florida until the Lord comes for me. My passion is KZbin all day and on sleepless nights the nurse will come to see ifI am okay and always ask " What are you watching".....thank you two for all the wonderful entertainment you provide so many. You will never know how happy you make so many ❤️

That is almost in motor mover range for you! ( who needs an EV?) Closest site we have managed was in Hemsby at Highfield, almost 2 miles for us, mainly to check out a new awning. Must admit I have spent a lot of time at the Grange when it was a great real ale venue. Also agree the Smokehouse is a great eatery, although the mini Las Vegas is something I have not done since my early teens and not likely to return after over 50 years, the pension would soon go with all those half crowns and threepenny bits being fed into those machines. But well done Dave and Helen for promoting the local spots, good publicity is always good for the area.

Hi Mel, Highfields? Is that the horse stables CL? (That’s where Helen kept the horse, Ross’s place). The grange was a good real ale pub and we used to use The First & Last a lot back in the day. Sad to see it looking so run down now. Hope you’re both well. Dave & Helen 👍

@@HelenandDave Yes, that is where wife and daughter also had horses there. The 2 CL’s, I each side of entry drive were fairly popular in the summer, although music and noise from the club across the road could be quite intrusive, I put that down to inconsiderate DJ’s personally😉. Ross did let us temporarily store our van there while we had builders in, that maybe gave him the idea to open the CL. Expensive game, horses, just added to the stock of hitch and wheel locks.
