Coming from the professional sound industry the EQ plugin should be first as EQ is generally a pre-fade effect whereas compressors and noise gates are post-fade. You did manage to pretty much get most of the points across.... Also in live sound you need to make sure that you don't have too much high end in your eq as people really don't like listening to high piercing sounds for too long, that also brings out all the s and c sounds if you have too much high end on the EQ.

It's funny I use to do that and got a comment exactly like that telling me to do the exact opposite lol. Thanks for sharing. I'll pin your comment :)

@@Gael_Level that is why when you look at a sound desk or even just software like the GoXLR app the order that the effects generally are pre-gain, EQ, send effects (compressors, reverbs, etc.) then post gain so in the goXLR case the physical fader is the post-gain. Technically you can put the noise gate at any point in the chain but 8/10 times you can get rid of background noise with just the eq by cutting out al the low end under the 100 Hz range. If you put the noise gate after the eq then the gate doesn't have to be as aggressive as it won't be cutting out as much noise and won't have to work as hard. I also noticed you didn't really cover too much about the actual audio level much in the video like what range the content creators should be aiming to hit. I see so many people make this mistake of being too quiet as they think if they hit the orange on OBS then they are being too loud.... What I always say to everyone is "People can always turn you down if you are too loud but not everyone can turn you up if you are too quiet" This is why typically I run my streams constantly in the yellow and occasionally hitting the red as it is easier for people to just turn me down as mobile devices can't go too loud if listening through the in-built speakers.

Nice video!!! So I did turn on the compressor and suppression which worked great but the noise gate was cancelling out my words so I just took it off for personally preference but this video was amazing man thanks a lot!

My mic sits on my oversized mouse pad, it helps a lot. Outside of hard table bumps it seems to absorb most of the smaller noises

Great stuff , also have you covered how to stream with a mic and still be able to talk in game to teammates, for example the stream hears the elgato mic and game hears headset mic or how is this accomplished ?
