I agree with him saying learn to polish. I don’t like hearing loud overly distorted chat. Sometimes people just plug mics in and don’t set it to sound better. If you pay for something make the most of it. I’m all about learning lol

EposVox: you clearly go above and beyond with the effort you put into these videos. You cover SO many bases in under 20 minutes, and it doesn't even feel like a sponsored video. Also it had me realize my audio chain on my microphone was not in the correct order in OBS, so thank you!

EQ is magic, you managed to make the mic sound like your dynamic mics. For my voice, and room I do more cutting then adding. Lots or resonating frequencies and it usually only likes like 2-5db. A lot does go a long way after you compress and bring it back up again.

As far as speaking clearly, I find that I speak more clearly if I'm streaming to an audience that is actually watching me, but if I'm recording, I tend to mumble. The way I was able to overcome this was by imagining that I'm NOT recording a video but rather TELLING a friend about the game and what's going on in it - when I play with friends, my voice is more excited and more clear, so if you have a decent enough imagination that you can imagine yourself speaking to your friends on Discord about this game rather than just recording your own voice, then you will sound the way you do when you speak with your friends. It might not be a professional speaker style voice, but it will be a large step above mumbling.

Great video! My biggest thing with my Wave 3 mic is that applying any plugins via OBS means treating the mic as a separate source in OBS instead of letting everything run through wave link. I really hope Elgato adds plugin support to wave link so that we can starting EQ-ing our mics directly instead of in specific apps.

Edit: you mentioned it in your video!!! Nice. The good thing is that somehow the suit RTX Voice doesn't need an RTX card to work. I have a GTX1660Ti and it still works just fine. There is one amazing way to remove any noises from your mouse and keyboard from your audio recordings and live streams. If you got a 1000 series and upwards NVidia card by any chance you can make use of RTX Voice which uses AI to filter out the noise. It removes basically 95 to 99% of the click sounds or any other noise. And I use a really obnoxious keyboard. It is almost like magic!

You’re probably the first person I’ve seen described sound reflections accurately. Most people think the foam is to spare their neighbors from streaming and gaming. But it does nearly nothing to stop transmission. You need a material like shredded rubber or neoprene.

Great Advice, & presentation! As always… I’m very excited that with such a small channel, minimal effort, & only 12 videos spread out over a year.. Deity has agreed to send me a mic for review, I’m sure I’ll laugh at whatever I create, when looking back later down the road, but I know with Adam’s tutorials, trial & errors… I’ll eventually improve! Thx for this super helpful info 🥳

One suggestion about the keyboard part, you can literally buy keyboard with silent switches like your typical MX Silent Red, or swap in silent switches for your custom keyboard afficionado out there. It will reduce the sound level of your keyboard to almost rubber dome keyboard level due to those having rubber dampeners at places where the stem (or pole) contact with the housing, producing sounds.

another equalizer APO(+vb audio cables) user here, I don't use the mic often but I do run copies of channels for multichannel audio purposes.. I am curious if we could emulate the clipguard feature by recording lower then have another copy running with usual gain on a separate channel.. getting EAPO to swap channels based on content however sounds sticky.

@@dozerjohn Voicemeeter is usually hopeless with consumer soundcards. It more or less requires a hardware USB interface such as GoXLR to work without crashing or hanging things. Although not all interfaces work as well either. I suggest Steinberg UR12 or UR22 which have both been completely flawless at 32 sample ASIO for me. $150 bucks or so pre-owned.

response to the deep dive into EQ - it's certainly something I'd find useful. I watch your vids mainly for the tech as much as anything, but getting to know EQ better would be useful to me on a personal level, as I've never quite understood the nitty-gritty of the PEQ settings and how they affect the sound of something, and at church I often have only a few seconds before a service to get an EQ on a speech mic right as the band are busy practicing most of the time so I'm setting them up most of the time.

If you're willing to shell out for it for a quieter keyboard, a Glorious keyboard(or similarly cheaper options) with hot swap capability and another $100 or so for switches, then zilent v2, Healios, Sakurios, or Roselios switches from ZealPC all have dampeners built into the switch stems to prevent the bottom out thock. Plus if you like the tactility of clicky switches, Zilents are tactile switches with a bump you can actually feel....looking at you "tactile" that feels like nothing MX browns.

Nearly PERFECT video. Missing one very important thing though when doing sound EQ or compression. Take frequent breaks and listen to unrelated things to Reset Your Ears. Your ears can quickly start to tune out bad sounds after you've heard them multiple times, making you unaware that the EQ you're applying or that audio clip that you've listened to for the 4th time, got worse with the changes you tried to apply to it.

Just a small opinion here, but in the intro when you were switching between good/bad the background track was such that hi-hat/cymbal part sounded a little like hiss so it muddied up the comparison IMO. I know I should be used to that track in your intros and stuff by now, but it was just so low and I expected noise in the "shitty stream audio" demo that I didn't realize it wasn't noise right away. Great vid, as usual, though.

Hi great vid , I'm struggling with my elgato wave 3 I had my sound perfect but then had to start everything from scratch ( long story ) . My problem seems to be noise gate on obs or streamlabs, I cannot find the perfect setting to capture my voice its either cutting bits out start of sentences and when I adjust it so it captures all my voice then it starts to capture other sounds , like cars outside doors shutting around the house and I can't seem to find the balance. I've watched loads of vids how to use the filters but it never turns out the same . I try to do voice over mostly like reporting latest news on games . I don't really use it for streaming games . Is there any help with settings u can give me or could u link a vid of yours in the comments if you think a previous vid of yours might help . I have the wave 3 , wave 3 pop filter and the wave 3 shockmount . Cheers

As a sidenote for the RTX Noise Removal plugin: it can cause up to around 30 to 40% GPU usage ON IDLE (not streaming), just to remove background noise. So it's not always the best solution. Or it's a bug, because for some reason, using Nvidia Broadcast as a dedicated program takes around half that GPU usage. And that RTX Voice example: it seems the technology has improved, as the audible quality loss has been lessened a bit
