I absolutely loved Perth on my first visit and would definitely consider moving here one day. It is like Sydney with far less traffic, people and the shenanigans of a global city. It is also more affordable, though I have heard its health system is not on par with the rest of the country. Another benefit is its time zone, which is more on par with Asian cities such as Singapore and Tokyo

Born in Sydney, moved to Bundaberg, then Townsville. Townsville is great, largest city in Northern Australia. . It has everything. But if we could get rid of youth crime that would be a plus.

Recently moved from Sydney to Newcastle. Good beaches, not too dense living, Market Town, Kotara, Charlestown and Bennett’s Green have everything you need. Ferry across the Hunter for a relaxing walk, good coffee, and great Fish and Chips. No tolls!!!

I was glad to see such a focus on the regional centres. There are so many opportunities in the large regional towns/smaller cities, but many coming to our shores barely look past the big 5. The Hunter Valley (which Newcastle is part of) has a multitude of job opportunites whether in heavy industry (Mining and supporting sectors), transport, tourism, health care, hospitality etc. Someone could live in a rural setting like Seaham and easily commute into Newcastle or Lake Macquarie for work.
@geoinsider

@@djt6012 Absolutely! Regional centers like Newcastle have so much to offer, and it’s great to see how accessible rural areas can be for work and lifestyle. These spots really deserve more attention!

The problem with having Sydney as one city in these rankings is that it's so large and sprawling, it's really two metropolitan areas. East and west. The Sydney CBD, eastern, southern, and inner west suburbs, along with the northern beaches and Sutherland shire make up one half of Sydney. The western, north west, south west, Hawksbury district, Macarthur region, and lower Blue Mountains make up Great Western Sydney. It's a powerhousececonomy in its own right, has a huge population, more affordable housing, and with the continued decentralisation of government departments, more job opportunities. With the international airport set to open in a year, and the planned aerotropolis, the greater west has a positive future. Don't bundle all of Sydney into one category.

I don't think there are more than half a dozen CITIES in Australia. Some nice towns maybe but cities?!
@geoinsider
@geoinsider 2 ай бұрын
@@daweilaotou1269 AFAIK, the definition of a 'city' in Australia varies between states, and the distinction between town, city, and other settlements can be blurry. According to the sources I checked, the number of cities can range from about 80 to nearly 400 depending on the criteria used. But even if you consider only 30 cities, it's still possible to pick 21 of the best 😉

Got the money? Anywhere is nice. Otherwise nice place to visit , terrible place to live. Like Wollongong, was a nice town with the best beaches no one wanted to come near. That was how we liked it. Then some people from Sydney with a lot of money decided Wollongong was the place to live, small, got yhe beaches and the mountains and close to Sydney. So come down and join us and bring your money down because we've just bought every beachside suburb and we'll sell it to you for four times as much. Stuff the locals, Wollongong is now southern Sydney now, that'll keep the money flowing.

Adelaide is the best city in Australia. Liveable- stunningly beautiful and easy to live in. Bugger all parking meters anywhere, wonderful treelined streets and parks everywhere and lovely weather.
