Here’s another tip: Only print physical invitation cards for REALLY close friends and family who are likely to keep them for memory’s sake. We’re talking like 10-20 cards max. For everyone else, design a digital card that you can send to people through messenger, WhatsApp, or email. Make sure it looks professional.

What is also great for save the dates, is making a save the date video. You can shoot a video with a friend's camera or iPhone, and then edit it on imovie or movie maker. Then when you send it out, it's a save the date, but it's so much cheaper!

One correction for people who may be misled. Moissante is not a diamond, but a gem. It’s not chemically similar , but visually very alike. You can get lab created diamonds however, those are the exact carbon/chemical make-up of diamonds and are very affordable!

Yes to cutting plus ones!! We were so firm on this, and I'm glad that we were. We wanted as many people there as possible who we knew would support our marriage in the long run and strangers just won't. I think I made ONE exception for a friend who didn't know anyone else. Everyone else had plenty of people to talk to and dance with all night long. I also kind of hate how plus ones can be treated as a crutch to keep you from having to interact with new people. I didn't feel bad at all at the thought of my friends having a moment where they had to reach out to someone new or dance next to someone they didn't know.

Kit C. Cool. It’s funny. A year later, in the time of corona, all of my fiancé’s and my rules regarding that have changed now that our venue has changed, we’ve reduced the numbers, and have to provide for social distancing. Before, it was etiquette to give a groomsman a plus one no matter what, and now it’s like hey you’re not in a serious relationship, numbers really count so no plus one. With our rain socially distanced configuration, I hope we’ll even be able to invite the bridal party given we’ll have to separate all the family units into different tables. So nvm, groomsman, you get a plus one because being at a table of one is lonely. This whole thing is just stressful.
@led62443 жыл бұрын
I agree! Just bc people are not married doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get a plus one, however I will add not everyone needs a plus one ONLY if they know other people. I’d they don’t know anyone else, give them a +1 so they’re not alone and feel comfortable. I’ve been in those situations and it sucked
@gatzwolffadventures2 жыл бұрын
It should be implied. If youve been in a relationship.that long the newlyweds should already know them. If they don't, consider maybe sending them well wishes especially if they're adamant about no plus ones. But yea. A bride and groom should know about long term relationships married or not when making their guest list. That's why they should be smaller rather than larger

Jamie! Great Video!!! I love it. Absolutely perfect. Just wanted to add a couple quick comments. I am a DJ and have been in the industry for 25 years, along with being a wedding planner etc. Every weekend it seems I see all the favors, decor get thrown away and they always want to give me a gigantic box of cupcakes, or a layer of cake. I completely understand if people want to DIY the music, professional dj's can make or break the party - they should be the Master of Ceremonies and keep everything flowing and should know literally everything since they have the microphone - I actually do a personalized introduction and I even let people know details and keep it flowing. Music - an ipod can't read the crowd or be played at the right time. #manhours a lot of vendors are starting to charge per day rather than hourly. A lot of vendors have so many upsells - and it drives me crazy - it's like when you go to your favorite steak house and they ask if you would like your baked potato loaded they don't tell you it's an extra 5.95 for sour cream, lol. Don't forget to ask if there is a corking fee or cake cutting fee. Make the bar simple, and you don't need red wine, it spills and causes a mess a lot of times. My plug - if you went to a wedding a couple a years ago what do you remember, can you tell me how the flowers smelled, or exactly how the cake tasted, or food, or do you remember people dancing and having fun? :) thank you for such a great video kudos it would be an honor to work with you someday....or see you at wedding mba or something.

My fiancé and I didn’t bother with engagement rings, partly because I didn’t see a point to having only one of us wearing a ring to essentially tell the world we’re engaged and he didn’t want one, so we just didn’t. But instead I got a really beautifully pearl and rose gold ring as my wedding ring and he got a gold ring with a detailed Celtic design. Not getting an engagement ring, and not going for expensive gems or diamonds cut the cost down a lot. In the end both of our rings combined was about $700.

For example for the mohs scale cubic zirconia is an 8, moissanite is about a 9.5 and diamonds are a 10 out of 10, moissanite are eco friendly, and just as beautiful if not more than a diamond, just as strong, and budget friendly.

@@RachNRoll1 Lab created diamonds are still diamonds, but they were not made naturally by the earth. They are man-made. Personally, I prefer gems that come out of the ground. I’m planning my wedding for this October and my budget is tight ! So I’m using fake flowers, & it’s more leaves then flowers, even in the bouquets! & I’m keeping the table decor simple. Sometimes simple is better☺️ my photographer is $400 (I posted ads & said I was on a budget) But! If I couldn’t find a photographer I have lots of girls in my fam who loves taking pics so that would be my 2nd option. I’m also getting a Polaroid printer for the guest book, I’m assigning my fam to take pics of everyone (using their phones) who enters, print everything and stick it in the photo book and pass it around to let everyone sign under their photo😌 the dj is a little costly the cheapest I found was $1250 to bring everything Bc the venue I picked had no speakers or mics & we would need the dj all day ! Bc we aren’t being charged extra for time for our venue it’s a flat fee so I need a dj who can stay long as well. Speaking of the venue I got lucky that my mom is paying it & it’s only $2800 but they do payment plans. But if your doing everything and you are on a tight budget I would suggest beautiful parks ! I called plenty who only charge $50 for the whole day! Catering I’m blessed to have someone pay for that, BUT if your paying it I would suggest finger foods or Mexican food or restaurant in your area that can do a buffet theme for cheap, Or! Order food in bulks! like Chinese food Bc it’s cheaper that way and have family serve for you 😌 the videographer is another tricky one. I found this instagramer who is willing to use a drone to capture the landscape of the wedding and I’m thinking of having my fam record off a camera and have someone edit it into a beautiful wedding video ?🤷🏽♀️ AND!!! This a Big Tip!! If your on a budget for a wedding dress GO TO : Anomalie !! they will custom make your dress based off your budget ! Check their work on instagram they explain everything ! Get your dream dress!, Based off your budget! & custom made to fit you !😁🤗 They even did priyankas veil !😱💕

I really wish the stigma in the bride space about cash bars would just go away. It's super annoying to be made to feel like a bad person if you can't afford an extra 3+ grand on providing alcohol. Even just beer and wine is expensive these days. I do love that many places offer packages to host for x amount of hours making it easier to provide some alcohol to guests, but I've never thought that a bride and groom were poor hosts for not hosting alcohol. Ultimately as a guest, you're there to celebrate the couple and their marriage with them and should be grateful to them for whatever capacity the couple chooses to host.

Definitely look into alternative stones. I think diamonds are overrated tbh. Yes, they are pretty but I really LOVE emeralds. I know they can definitely be more than diamonds if it's a natural, cloudy one but I like the clear and lab created ones just as much. Those are so much less than a diamond. As for other gems, in looking I found that moissanite looks more sparkly imo and morganite is really pretty too.

Amazing I’m definitely using these tips. What do you recommend for water? Our venue and caterer don’t supply water. Water bottles or dispensers?
@bookergrl366 жыл бұрын
One of the things I remember from a high school homecoming dance forever ago was that they had water bottles instead of dispensers that year for some reason. There were partially full bottles literally everywhere. People would take a few sips, put it down somewhere, continue dancing, and lose track of their bottle so they’d get a new one when they wanted a drink again. The dispensers were so much less wasteful.

Jamie! Please do a same sex bridal video. How to incorporate traditions. I'm planning a wedding for a year from now, I'll be a classic bride and my fiance is more androgynous, meaning she will be wearing a suit. I'd like to keep it a bit traditional but having a difficult time.
@jencasey3166 жыл бұрын
Sable Jean - same. I've found that picking out the traditions that mean something to us and using those has helped with deciding. Both my parents are walking me down the aisle for example, but they arent giving me away, its more like I'm escorting them to their seats and I'm doing a dance with each of them. We arent doing the bouquet or garter toss (my bouquet would be too dangerous to throw anyway - we are doing crystal snowflakes because it is a December wedding - I could take out an eye with the pointies if I threw it) but we are doing an anniversary dance and giving the couple their cake personally - cut right after ours by us. Things like that.

We tried to avoid all-in packages but it turned out to be c.£8k cheaper to go with a hotel and barter instead

This is one of the biggest differences between US and UK weddings that always confuses me. I have never EVER been to a wedding in the UK that had a free bar. Ever. More to the point, I would never expect it- unless it’s a hugely grand wedding for very well off people, 99% of UK couples that I know of have cash bars, and it’s never seen as a tacky thing to do!
@Candlewick142 жыл бұрын
thats so interesting - In Australia, you would never invite peeps to a wedding and expect them to buy their own drinks. A paid bar is 10000% expected.

In my native Finland it's usually like that too - alcohol is quite expensive and it would be a lot to ask to have an open bar at a, say, 100 people wedding. Plus, Finns are known to drink quite a lot at parties, especially if the booze is free (which is very rare.) Now I'm living in France and my bf was weirded out when I told about the liquor served at my bff's nuptial in Finland: A glass of bubbly to toast, two glasses of wine or beer with the meal then a cognac with dessert. If you wanted more it was cash bar. He thought of it as cheap as in France the couple usually just buys a lot of champagne and wine bottles beforehand, to be drank at the wedding (and nobody "checks on you" how many glasses you've had). Also, contrary to France, a lot of venues don't allow you to bring your own drinks so most people offer a few drinks to their guests (that the venue or caterer provides) and then it's a cash bar for those still "thirsty".
