When I told my mother I wanted natural hairstyles this is what I meant. Something I could take out and do myself when I wanted, not cornrows or braids that had to stay in for at least 2 weeks before I could do another style. I love my afro and am so happy she allowed to have my hair out for the entire vacation. A little bit of conditioner, oil or moisturizer goes a long way. School is approaching so back to those protective hairstyles I will forever detest. At least I still have time to change my mother's mind and this video really gave me hope. I wish people appreciated our stray hairs and fuzzy fros, it's what our hair wants to do, stop trying to control everything. I love the 'mess' stop calling it messy or unkempt, it's washed and brushed and combed, that's all you should be allowed to care about anyway
