As much as love decluttering, I would love to see more ways to do so mindfully and sustainably. Most of the time, donating things usually will find themselves in landfills if you’re dropping it off at a thrift store. There are so many ways to repurpose things and give them places they can possibly do so! Would love to see more resources like that mentioned here.

I do not think it is fair to give away a game, a toy or a stuffed lovey that is in any way damaged, missing a piece, or even slightly grungy looking. When I donate items they need to be as perfect as possible. If I wouldn’t put it in my home or give it to my child I will not donate it. 😊
@The_Beach_Lady3 жыл бұрын
I agree
@adelest95003 жыл бұрын
I think it's fair as long as you give it away personally (not just pass it on some charity to deal with it) and make sure that person taking it knows the condition of the item.
@punkinpie273 жыл бұрын
I used to think the same way, but I discovered that my area thrift stores actually recycle damaged clothing, including shoes. Check with your local centres and recycling recommendations. Donating them may actually keep them out of the landfill.

These lists are always so obvious. Throw away that empty chapstick tube. Like, duh. Tell me to get rid of my cheap body spray & wear my nice perfume. Tell me I don't read physical books anymore so I need to get rid of them even if they are autographed. Tell me, it's ok to get rid of things that were gifted to me without feeling guilty. And girl, you can get rid of those black trousers that you "might" need "someday" but haven't worn in 2 years. And boxes - if there's nothing in the box, I don't need a box of boxes. Ok, I'm going to go declutter now. 💛

An idea for almost burned out nice smelling candles is to put it in the freezer. Let the wax get very hard, then take a knife and crack the wax and put the left over wax pieces in a wax melter and enjoy the nice fragrance a bit more.

I would donate games and puzzles with missing pieces and note that they are missing pieces. Puzzles with missing pieces are perfect for crafts (you can repaint them and make a cute wreath like Woman's Day has on the front cover of their Feb 2021 issue), and games with only partial pieces can be sanitizes and used to make a cute themed cake for a kid's game themed birthday party or to make cute art for a family/game room.
