Just got one myself and I'm at 4 hours after about 30 mins of mowing a fairly large property my drive system stops and then after a couple of seconds it'll go then stop again tell I let it sit for about 5 minutes did you run into this

How is the durability on these units? I was recently speaking with a landscaper who purchased 2 Scag 21 inch mowers last year. He has had to replace the transmissions in both mowers. He also said that parts wear out quickly and are expensive and hard to get. He loved the cut but has now put both mowers for sale and is going back to Toro.

No the transmission bracket is cheap but easy to replace.

Got the same mower. Leaks grass all around the bagger edges.Iam going to try and seal it up more with some foam tape.

Thanks for the excellent video and feedback. The shape of the deck and the power of the Kohler 224 cc engine definitely makes it a phenomenal bagger. How would you compare it to your Toro 21" commercial mower? Better, the same, or worse than the Toro? Thanks

Toro in my opinion don’t bag as good so I use the toro if I’m trying to bag a little.

SCAG would be a definite consideration if I didn't have my Honda commercial and HRX, similar features but with a shaft driven hydrostatic transaxle on the commercial. Both mowers pack the bag, have a blade brake clutch and didn't come with a side discharge. I ordered a discharge with my Honda Commercial as I knew I would be using it. That said, I don't know how well the SCAG does mulching. Both of my Hondas can mulch the clippings to an incredibly fine size. I am pretty impressed with the design of the SFC-30 as well. I also like Kohler Command Pro engines as well.

Scag offers a Honda engine option with the 21", in fact it's the most expensive out of the two other Kohler engine options.

If you have to stop to pickup trash or do something will the mower continue to run or does it cut off when you let go of the controls?

Sometimes when I turn my engine off it backfires I don’t run it that much only used it maybe 3x other than that I love it

Once I did the first oil change and fuel filter it stop.

These units you can help mitigate the backfire problem by idling for 10 seconds before shutting it down. It's like a snow blower in that sense, except some snow blowers don't have a throttle control.
