That was luck... I think that Mark was unaware of the time, and how close he was to flagging Kai. As Kai said, he could have blocked with the queen, and he would have flagged him.. In that situation, it's safer to bring more pieces to the defense of the king, but you have to prepare yourself for these situations up front. Can't blame him for not using that strategy, which, to be fair, just occurred to me :)

In the first analysis position my move (while they were still playing) was Bxg4. Not as sharp as the Rook sac, but still a fun move. Queen can't take the bishop because then it's mate.

Nice game. Question. At 4:39 bishop takes pawn. Queen takes bishop. Queen to h2 is mate correct? I guess he wouldn't have to take the bishop though but then that's just a juicer pawn then right cuz then he'd just move the bishop back. Idk

That is correct. Capturing the bishop would result in instant mate, of course. In these games, dropping a mere pawn doesn't mean much. Usually it helps the guy who just lost the pawn as time is lost capturing the pawn then having to retreat the capturing piece when it gets attacked under the right circumstances. Also, grabbing the juicer opens the board up a bit for white's pieces, not having the pawn in the way. One of the best defenses is to use an opponent's own pawns to block his pieces.

Correct. then it is not required the bishop goes back. It lands on f3 after Bxg4 and Txd4. It is basically game over . Remember white queen can't move.

Both players destroyed their own king safety and failed to capitalize on the lack of king safety of their opponent, missing wins. The Duck started talking to his opponent when black had a winning tactic to enable Rh4 with invasion. I wonder if that was a coincidence or bad sportsmanship.
