Not surprised in the slightest. These young FMs and GMs are very solid when it comes to theory, but are totally put off when dealing with someone as creative and unorthodox as Duck. He's also got years of experience under his belt, and that counts for a lot when playing younglings. Well played to Nemo though, she's a very good player and will only continue to get better :).

You need to realise that Duck clearly likes having fun first and foremost in these Coffee Chess games, and therefore purposefully plays an unorthodox game which often puts him at a disadvantage early on (only to then reverse things when his opponents least expect it). But when it comes to serious opposition, I've seen enough Duck games (vs Shankland and Hikaru, for example) to know that the man can play very solid chess when he needs to. I know he had time advantage when he drew vs Naka, but the way he played was very impressive, and I don't think Nemo would have drawn with Naka under any circumstance imo.

@@Rafael-xt1nm Well Nemo could’ve checkmated him if she found the right moves which she would’ve found if she had more time. When you’re low on time you just make random moves sometimes and that’s what she did. In my opinion, in order to see who the better player really is then it needs to be a classical game.

@@swedishviking9134 Could have, would have. When you have players who are quite close in ratings, then anyone can win if it's their day and there is a one blunder or one amazing move. But when it comes to blitz or rapid, what determines who is better between similar rated players is who can play a better end game under time pressure, and it is clearly Duck imo. I also think he's more well rounded than Nemo, and has more ways to win. But she's a great player too, and think she can defo win a few games vs Duck if they played 10 matches.
