I understand that this song is about death and the loss of a loved one. He is singing about losing someone close to him, but these are just my thoughts and interpretations as I listen and how I apply them to my own life and experiences. I loved this song. let me know what to react to next. Go check out my music!

Yeah and it’s not about god being there or not, it’s all about the grandmother, that he wishes she could come back to her body, not god.

This song hits home. I heard this song within weeks of losing my beloved husband to skin cancer in 2019 and that same year I had let God and Jesus in deep within my soul. So I pretty much was angers at God for taking him home when I wasn’t ready. I felt lost and I was in shock. I haven’t been back to church and I miss my husband so much. I guess God had other plans . This is so intense for me. Thank you 🙏 Hugs 🤗 💜🙏💜🙏💜🙏

One of the things I love about this, of which there are many, is that this music video is so simplistic, and it’s so powerful because it focuses on the voice and the story within the lyrics.

I'm 100 % willing to bet God called me to come across you and this video today. I was in a weird mood at work this morning and threw on Chris because I do love his music and voice and I haven't listened to him in forever. So I get home and I just watched one of my favorite podcasts, then started searching for reactions to Chris's music. This video was the 2nd video I clicked on and it hit me 10000% in the feels. Thank you! I feel so much more aware now and this is exactly what I needed for the longest time. You have a new subscriber and I'm sharing this.

And yes I have listened and learned but something with you made it resonate differently with me. And Chris was what brought me here to watch this, but the man above works in mysterious ways. Dude you nailed it. You said “when I’m honest, I am closer to god” that’s perfect. It’s not about falling in line and believing in something you can’t feel sometimes. It’s the act of honest speech. Honest thoughts. Being honest with your self and with the thing inside of you that’s paying attention to what you’re saying and thinking. When you teach yourself to think honestly to yourself... you train yourself to be honest with speech and with your interactions with others. It’s the act it’s self of honesty that moves you closer to the ideal. I’m not even religious in a Christian sense. I don’t believe god is a being. I believe he (for me because I am male) is an ideal. But not just an ideal. It’s metaphysical. I am positive you and I have so much to talk about. You’re very smart for a young pastor.
@Treyu213
@Treyu213 4 жыл бұрын
You also said “don’t keep your eye on other people” and that’s so perfect as well. Thou shall not worship false idols. And I don’t mean other gods other than the Christian god. I mean other people. Because other people will preach like they know the way... kind of like I am doing now. But nobody is perfect. Nobody is the ideal. Everyone should stride to live a life that is as close to the ideal as they can, which is damn near impossible because of things like lust for sexual pleasures or greed for wealth... it’s hard chemically. There are chemicals that flood your brain and act against your best interest as a biological being. But like I said before, it’s metaphysical. It’s deeper than physics and science. It’s deeper than chemicals and elements. Pick a star and wish on it! Strive towards it. Become union with the ideal.

Greetings from Sweden. I will make lots of mistakes with the language, but I hope you will understand. Your reaction is the best yet🙏 I was a christian once, but I felt like an outsider all the time. I tried to fit in, but I couldn't get to that place in my faith... Others seemed to know, they had no worries at all. At least not any they wanted to show🤷‍♂️ Like you said, they told me to not ask questions and just to believe. But life isn't like that, and faith is even harder. So when I was 18 I left, and I never looked back. I feel so lost sometimes, but I don't know why... I'm going 59 this year, and I'm a deep thinker, so everything goes through my mind. Sometimes I feel like just shouting out my questions and my sadness, but the next second I just feel stupid🤷‍♂️ It's hard because I can't tell if it's about other things or about God... I just want to say, if there were more pastors like you around, I would consider to turn around🙏

Hi! I'm from Sweden and has heard Chris for a while know he is really good and sings with his heart on his sleaves so to speak. I am kinda jealous of al of you that found god. I really havent do to several reasons... I have lots of different illness started when I was aboute 7 years old and know kinda making me immobile and hearts every minute of the time. I have replace some joints and probebley moor operations comming. And this is just a smal portion of bad that happend in my life. The few religious people I meet have told me that it's my fault that I'm sick like this...and thats no start to helping me found believe in god. It quite done the outher way!!! I have been so depreesed that I dosent whanted to love and times like that still comes. Last time it gott so strong I found a mucicband from USA and there fans and they helpt mutch moore than any pastor I ever meet...and some of them do belive in god and are telling abute it the right way. The band cant bee expleine do to what they do and how they sounds they really have to be experiensed in conserts to understand compleatley. They can make you cry or they can make you laugh and everything in between. They are 5 men that really are the most nices guyes I ever meet and doing everything they can for there fans. They started in college in 2000 and know are touring the world and also gets to sing with moore well known artists becouse of who they are. There are many stories in what happens when we soupporting them end they are supporting us. One of there song that I just love and also is Swedish from the begining and not manny know is that is " How great thou art". This video is very special. This outdoor consert was canseld after 3 songs do to rain and thunderstorm. A lot of the fans stayed in a pavilion to wait oute the storm. I have never heard of any outher artist doing what they did. They walked up a hill in rain and thunder...placed them self on a campingtable. Told them this consert whas canceld but that they gonna sing 1 moor song unpluggde. And look at there in the lyric the lamp flickers! Chris Rupp hade lefte the band a couple of years before so here is it Adam Chance that replacet him. Home Free Kearney, MO How Great Thou Art 6.17.2017 Complete Recordingkzbin.info/www/bejne/iaC5d4OspZ2JnpY I would be glad if youre doing a reaction videos on them and that song and lett me know what youre thinking aboute it. I'm still searching to find my tral belive in good becouse of the pastors words doring my uppbringing amd there hassh words.t takes the time and probebley coming when I'n atleast waiting for it. So in the mean time I'm greatfull for people like you and the band Home free and there fans "Home Fye's". Whising you a great weekend sending you angel hugs from Sweden Ps. I think this is why I have such a hard time with my faith. I believe. But when I attend church or hear oastors I'm almost condemned for having questions or I'm told I can't feel my real feelings bc God will just make it perfect. What??? No!!!!! My feelings are really and to be a good mom and human I have to process my feelings. I lost my faith for many years bc I was a "sinner" for questioning or asking questions. I'm starting to find it again but even now I'm still having a hard time finding a church that says many things I like but then there's always those comments that make me go "whoa....that's ignorant and actually not emotionally healthy". Just turns me off from church

Don´t worry about the pronunciation, it´s fine. You know the name Claire in English? Kläfford is pronounced similarly to that, in the beginning. Like Clefford. I actually think it´s some old family name of his, like there was some ancestor or uncle of his who moved to the US, chanced his name to Clifford, and then returned home to Sweden, and then chanced it to Kläfford so people in Sweden should able to pronounce it. Something like that. I´m not sure. The three letters in the Swedish alphabet, that the English doesn´t have are å, ä and ö. Å is pronounced like Au in Australia or Austin. Ä is pronounced like Ai in air Ö is pronounced like Ea in earn. This is filmed in the church of the village where he grew up. Ramsberg kyrka (Ramsberg church). It´s from the 1790s, and it´s were the funeral service of his great grandmother was held in 2011. It´s his brother who is filming, and his girlfriend directing. Chris had promised his great grandmother Brita to sing Jeff Buckley´s "Hallelujah" at her funeral. He isn´t calling out to God, but to his great grandma Brita. It´s her who isn´t there anymore, she is lying cold at the altar in the casket. I have a feeling that you interpret a lot about religion into this, when there isn´t anything religious about this. It´s just about a guy who is remembering the funeral of someone he really loved. You must realize. Churches for us is something different than in the US. A church from the 1790s is considered to be a pretty new church here, the church where I grew up is from the 1200s. From my perspective, I feel like American churches are more like a club, with members, or like a business, it´s a group of people. To us church isn´t so much about God and religion anymore, but about family, history and tradition. It´s something special to be at a place where your family members have been baptized, married and had their funerals 10, or more, generations back. To sit where they sat, hundreds of years ago, walking in their footsteps. It´s about our loved ones. The ones who are here. The ones who are no longer here. And the ones who will be there when we´re gone.

You´re right. God tells us that he is our father. So, as his children, we often disagree with the thoughts of our fathers. So we discuss some issues even if they are controvers. That´s just normal and we don´t need to bend our knees to talk to our father. So every prayer is just a kind of talking to HIM.

If the word is going to be short cut or longer ,well you have to know by hearingÖ is also a word that means island but to pronounce it I would guess you use it as e in herbs. Honestly, the reason I think the reason people outside the circle of Christian music and stuff like that tell the story of music and the bible better is that the church how it is now. *take this as you will* Has turned greedy but the true people who worship God or even take him into there heart know the true power of his grace and know that God will tell us what he needs to and will show us signs when he needs to I may have fallen from grace quite a few times but God has always been there to pick me back up!!!! I don't go to church because of all of the stuff that goes on in the big *and most small churches* but if I can find a church that preaches in Gods name like they should I would glady drive a while to go there!!!!

You are a wise young man. The next stage of your development is that God is real and he transcends all religions. He is Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism and many others. We all love the same Lord....we as humans segregate religion but we are all loving God. All religions are the same, we just need to know that and love and support each other regardless of what we believe is our religion.

I love this song. May I suggest you listen to “Du måste finnas” - Helena Sjöholm It is a song from ”Kristina från Duvemåla” a Swedish musical written by former ABBA members Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. (That is based on a series of four novels by Swedish author Vilhelm Moberg detailing a family's poverty-driven migration from Sweden to America in the mid-19th century) The song is the desperate Kristina's prayer to God. For the first time in her life, she doubts the existence of the Lord, after reluctantly moving to America, having a miscarriage and then becoming ill. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHKycpKBjNx5rrs This video is the song in Swedish with English subtitles, in my opinion, many times better than the English version.

Amusingly, when it comes to questioning God, I wonder if there's ever a consideration about the hints to the functional or disfunctional parental-child relationship. Kids ask questions all the time. They are new to the world. They want to learn about it. Normally we find it the sane and right thing to answer those questions as honestly and, depending on the question, age-appropriately as we deem possible. This differ from culture to culture of course. Christianity speaks of the Father and Son and that everyone is God's children. Yet not everyone seems to feel that every question is okay to be asked by these "children" of varying ages. Consider what kind of relationship is fostered between a child and parental figure when a lot to almost all worried or negative questions are left unanswered or disregarded. The outcome is usually never that good. We should never shy away from questions, regardless of what they're about and to whom they're directed. That's how we all grow, regardless of our age. So I think you have a good mindset about questions and questioning God.
