Russell’s ball placement was not good, it was ok. He threw inside to Sutton on a deep ball when he should of thrown a back shoulder, beck had a 40+ yard gain if Russ didn’t over throw him causing him to fall, and the Jeudy play. He also ran around a couple times when we actually had open receivers had he not bailed so quickly with no pressure. His limitations on the inside the 5 work was glaring as the hawks don’t have to worry about a qb sneak from Russ. He’s the most effective ball mover but seems to score worse than past qbs so far. Hope heads are on a swivel next week.

If the PLAN was to kick a FG which according to the Broncos it was, then you run the clock down and call a timeout to leave as little time as possible. As a QB you don't override the coach's plan like that in Week 1. Even Peyton and Tom and Eli and everyone else runs the clock down as far as possible before the kick maybe try to get someone jumping offside. (So Russ did exactly what was planned.) If the PLAN was to let your QB go for it on 4th and say "Let's Ride", then yeah Russ failed. Peyton was jumping at the screen for a timeout because he couldn't believe the PLAN was to kick a FG. This is why you're missing the point it was the Coach's PLAN, not Russ and his execution. To PLAN on a 64-yd kick, burn 40 seconds and waste a timeout, was risky to do and bit them in the end. To follow your coach's decision and let it ride is Russ to the core and what any good QB does. So with your logic, who do you blame for Marshawn not running at the 1? Pete for calling the pass, or Russ for not handing it off to Lynch anyways despite his coach's call? Also to Joel, stop with the "they were in the shotgun" that's an awful argument in 2022. It's called from shotgun because it's effective for years now over goal line formations and increasingly so. You're ignoring the spacing it gives the RB and makes it 7v7 as opposed to 11v11 in a goal line formation. Because it makes it believable you might do something other than run so people can't overload the box, which will always favor the defense at a man-for-man level.
